Charles L. Winslow
Charles L. Winslow, 80, of Thomasville, passed away, Monday, June 25, 2012, at his home. Funeral service will be held 2 pm, Thursday, June 28th, at Amity Hills Baptist Church; Rev. Barry Wall and Rev. Keith Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6 until 8 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Born on June 13, 1932 in Randolph County, a son of the late, William Thomas and Alma Smith Winslow. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother William Hal Winslow. On January 16, 1960 he married the love of his life the former Janet Wall. Charles was employed with the US Postal Service and retired after 30 years of service. He was a loving husband, brother, and friend. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Winslow of the home; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Hilton of High Point; and several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Hida Rea Tuttle, age 88, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at her residence. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 4:00 PM in Emanuel Reformed Church Cemetery with Rev. Rickey Payne officiating. Born Aug 26, 1923 in Davidson Co., daughter of the late William Ambrose Beck and Bessie Myers Beck. She was married to Wilbur Tuttle who preceded her in death on June 29, 1982. Surviving are one daughter, Joyce M. Hughes and husband David of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Susan M. Hulin and husband Randy of Lexington and Kenneth Hughes of Thomasville; three great grandchildren, Brandi Hulin Leath and husband Jermey, Jason Hulin and Bradley Hulin all of Lexington; three sisters, Evelyn Marion and husband Emit of Charlotte, NC, Lucille Nifong and Pearl Brinkley both of Thomasville. Helen Johnson Kennedy Dies
Helen Johnson Kennedy, passed Friday evening, June 22, 2012 at her residence. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 11 A.M. in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen White officiating. Born April 10, 1927 in Davidson County, a daughter of Thomas Filmore Johnson and Edna Ritchie Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Johnson Green and a brother Ira Thomas Johnson. On November 19, 1949 she was married to F. Stuart Kennedy, who survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters, Marcia Kennedy of Thomasville and Kim Kelly and her husband J.B. of Apex; a son, Harold Stuart Kennedy and wife Valerie of Thomasville; brothers, James Johnson and wife Alliene of Burlington and Robert Johnson of Thomasville; and her grandchildren, Nicole Scott, Adrien Michelle Kennedy, Thomas Weston Hawkins, Caitlin Kennedy Kelly and Alexander Stuart Kennedy.

Kevil Richard Hughes, 84, passed Monday evening, June 18, 2012 at the Westchester Manor Nursing Center in High Point. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2 P.M. in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. James Summey and Mr. David Meredith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery Born May 5, 1928 in Davidson County, a son of Everett Kates Hughes and Eulah Roxie Snider Hughes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Pearly Moore and brothers, Jaffie Hughes and Clifford Hughes. On June 30, 1956 he was married to Carolyn Eagle, who survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Christina Hughes Walters and husband Franklin Don Walters, Jr. of Charlotte; a son, Kelvin Richard Hughes and wife Diane of Thomasville; special daughters, Brenda Burton and husband Danny of Denton and Brenda Thompson and husband Roger of Lexington; sisters, Geneva Dorsett and husband Vernon and Florence Yates, both of Denton and Delores Huffman and husband Ed of Thomasville; a brother, Luther Hughes and wife Virgie of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Ida Rea Hughes of Lexington; grandchildren, Candice Burton Smith and husband Aaron, Onawa Thompson, Anthony Hammonds and wife Erica, Daniel Hammonds and wife Haley, Christiana E. Born Nov. 20, 1922, in Davidson County to William Henry Hedrick and Ida Bell Swing Hedrick. Preceding her in death was her husband, Harvey Hoyle Garner, May 21, 1995; two brothers, William Hedrick and J.W. Hedrick; and three sisters, Mary Palmer, June Lambeth and Clara Faye Palmer. Surviving are a son, Danny Garner of Lexington; a granddaughter, Melissa Thompson and husband Shannon; two great-grandchildren, Meredith Huffman and husband Josh and Matt Hedrick; two great-great-grandchildren, Jordan Huffman and Zy Huffman; a brother, Lowell Hedrick and wife Rachel of Lexington; and two sisters, Nancy Swing and Betty Harvey, both of Lexington.

We have received late word that Jill Briles-Hinton has resigned as head coach of the Richmond Spider Golf team. Jill is a member of the LPGA and has coached both Richmond & the University of Florida Golf programs. Jill is the daughter of Joel & Sue Mattner Briles. Beryl G. Briles, of Shrewsbury, WV passed Sunday, June 10, 2012 after a long illness. A service for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Montgomery Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Minister Steve Fox officiating. Born July 9, 1926, in Lincoln County, a son of the late Noah and Mary Briles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Briles; son, Chris Briles; and granddaughter, Erin Briles. Surviving are his daughter, Terri (Zane) Stephenson; son, David (Kendra) Briles; grandsons, Michael Perry (Terri Kittinger) and Kevin Briles; sister, Loretta Hannigan; brother, Don (Lois) Briles; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Two Charged with Murder
Two people have been charged with 1st Degree in murder in the death of John Russell Morris and the accused may have Briles ties. Jessica Dawson Summey and Shawn Lundy have been arrested in Virginia and will be extradited back to Randolph County. The Randolph County Sheriff's Office said investigators have found burned vehicle parts from John Russell Morris' Jeep Wrangler behind a home at 516 Mount Shepherd Road. Deputies also said they found human remains. The body has been sent to the Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for identification.

Inez Parrish Bean, 90, passed Monday, June 4, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clayton Stoneman and Rev. Darrell Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Trinity, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 pm on Tuesday. Born to the late Oscar E. and Ida Lee Myers Parrish on January 10, 1922. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, a brother, Roy E. Parrish; sisters, Eva P. Freeman and Eutha P. Small; and a sister-in-law, Ehtel S. Parrish. On June 21, 1943 she was married to Paul Franklin Bean who predeceased her on February 17, 1963. Surviving is her daughter, Marsha Bean Hayduk of High Point; a sister, Ruby Parrish Loflin of High Point; a brother, Albert Parrish and his wife Alice of Trinity, NC and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday June 1, 2012 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel.Born on September 29, 1944 in Linton and was the son of the late William Edgar and Ruth (Shoufler) Briles. Army Veteran. Survivors include his wife of 32 years Millie Briles of Bloomington, one son Ty Briles of Bloomington, one sister Carole Briles of Ellettsville, two brothers Harold Briles (Deloris) of Ellettsville and Roy Briles (Lorna) of Bloomington, 2 nieces and 3nephews, 3 brothers-in-law Steve Hardin of Maryland, Ric Hardin of Bloomington and Tim Hardin of Noblesville and his uncle John Briles (Dee) of Bloomington.
