Leon Herbert Skeen

Leon Herbert Skeen, 90, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 at Pinelake Peak Resources Carthage, NC.

Graveside Service, with Military Honors, will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Arnold Comer officiating. The body will lie in repose from noon to 2:00 PM prior to the service at Kennedy Funeral Home.

Born in Randolph County on October 9, 1931 son of the late Herbert and Nannie Poole Skeen. Veteran: United State Army, during the Korean War. Preceded in death by wife of 55 years, Eva Hussey Skeen; sister Hazel Lee Ennis; brothers: Britt Skeen, Clifford Skeen, J D Skeen.

Leon is survived by step son: Donald Hussey (Joyce); daughter: Sandra Craig (Ted); grandchildren: Brandi Craig, Bethany Barden (Chance); step grandchildren: Greg Morton (Rita), Jerry Morton (Melanie), Karen Baldwin (Gary); 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; son: Eddie Rush; many nieces, nephews and friends.

James Ray “Jimmy” Kinley Passes

TRINITY- James Ray “Jimmy” Kinley, 78, passed Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

A service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held on Monday, November 22, at 2 p.m. at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting, with Pastor Randy Quate officiating. The committal service will follow in the Meeting Cemetery His family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, NC.

Born on April 17, 1943 in Randolph County, a son of the late Samuel Ray and Dorothy Frazier Kinley. 

He is survived by his children, J. Todd Kinley and his wife, Leslie Anderson, Maria Kinley and her husband, Gaeton Leake and Jennifer Holland and her husband, Tom Holland; his sister, Katherine K. Garrison; his brother, Terry Kinley and his wife, Jane. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Joshua Kinley, Caleb Kinley, Adrienne Anderson, Katherine Anderson, Arlo Leake, Vivian Leake, and Garret Holland.

Ruth Hunt Brady

Sophia- Ruth Hunt Brady, 69, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital. 

Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 – 2:00pm, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Christian Fellowship Church, 3232 Walker Dr, Asheboro, NC 27205 with a service to follow at 2:00pm and fellowship immediately after.

Born in Randolph County on May 4, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Bim and Frances Hunt. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 49 years, Roger Brady; daughter Olivia Blanton and her husband Jody; grandson, Jonah Blanton; siblings, Brenda Thomas and her husband Paul, Sam Hunt and his wife Janet, Clifford Hunt and his wife Virginia, David Hunt and his wife Kathy, Gail Bailey and her husband Darrell and Lucy Lucas and her husband Bobby; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Doris Ann Welborn Hayes

Doris Ann Welborn Hayes, 87, of Thomasville passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Gary Myers officiating. Doris will lie in state at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville on Wednesday from 8:00 AM-6:00 PM for those wanting to pay their respects, she will also lie in state at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service, from 8:00 AM-10:30 AM.

Doris was born July 01, 1934 in Davidson County to the late Dewey Lee Welborn, Sr. and Ocia Hughes Welborn. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Roy Hayes on May 9, 1995; two brothers, Dewey Welborn, Jr. and Bobby Welborn.

Surviving are her two sons, Randall Lee Hayes of the home and Tony Wayne Hayes of Lexington; one daughter, Deborah Hayes Chod and husband Robert A. Chod of Sarasota, Florida; two brothers, Charles Welborn and wife Shelby of Thomasville and Joe Grooms and wife Patsy of Lexington; one grandson, Adam Wayne Hayes of Thomasville; one great-granddaughter, Emmie Lou Hayes; and one daughter-in-law, Teresa Hayes of Thomasville.

Mrs. Hayes' grandmother is Martha Jane Briles Welborn


William Allen Farlow

William Allen Farlow, 84, resident of Trinity, died November 5, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Mr. Jerry Farlow officiating.  A private interment will follow the service at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday.

He was born May 7, 1937 in Randolph County, a son to Allen and Millie Sink Farlow. US Veteran of the United States Army National Guard.

In 1963, he married the former Shirley Ann Wilcox who preceded him in death in 1981.  He also was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Farlow (Peggy) and three sisters, Doris Lilly (Walter),  Phyllis Lowdermilk (Roy) and Louise Wall (Lyn).  Surviving is his daughter, Kaye Martin and husband Ronnie of Trinity; four grandchildren, Joseph Martin (Julia),  Rebecca Dixon (Joe),  Ben Martin (Crystal), and Sarah Ritner (John) and six great-grandchildren, Weston, Jude, Caden, Silas, Luke, and Jett.
