Gerald L. Winfrey Passes

Gerald L. Winfrey, 84, a resident of High Point, passed away Friday, October 26, 2012. A service to celebrate Gerald’s life will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, in High Point, with Pastor Frank Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Born December 11, 1927, in Guilford County, NC to the late Edward L. Winfrey and Effie Rush Winfrey. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his wife of 58 years, Daisy O. Winfrey and a brother, James Winfrey. Survived by; Joe Winfrey, son, and Inett Cordell of Roan Mt, TN, and Eddie Winfrey, son, and Sue Rutherford of Pine Knoll Shores, NC, his sisters in law; Jessie C. Winfrey of High Point and Jane Bogedain of Salisbury. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews, and a special friend; A. Ray Hughes of Wilmington, NC.

Rhonda Gayle Austin Lambeth

Rhonda Gayle Austin Lambeth, 71, passed Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the home of her daughter. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 PM at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville by the Rev. Mike Orman and the Rev. Wayne Tucker. Burial will be in Fairgrove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Born in Randolph County, December 16, 1940 a daughter of Henry Jackson (Jack) Austin and Doris Juanita Hunt Austin.Surviving are her husband, Dale Lambeth of the home; a daughter, Dorlie Gallimore of Thomasville; her mother, Doris Juanita Austin of High Point; two sisters, Jackie Pryce of Jacksonville, FL and Sherri Webster of Thomasville. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Lindsay Taylor Suits, Max Allen Suits, and Mackenzie Nicole Gallimore. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Austin. Arthur Parrish Dies

Arthur Parrish, age 85, of Asheboro passed Friday, August 24, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Family will receive friends Monday, August 27, 2012 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC, prior to funeral service at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro Born January 13, 1927 in Randolph County, NC, the son of Benjamin Carliss and Kate Kearns Parrish; preceded in death by his wife; Joyce Lambe Parrish. He is survived by one daughter: Debbie Parrish Frazier and husband, Gary of Franklinville, two sons: Roger Parrish and wife, Joyce of Asheboro and Ott Parrish and wife, Cindy of Archdale, 7 grandchildren: Vicki Donnelly, Melissa Frazier, Derek Frazier, Nicole Parrish Mercado and her husband, Christopher, Tara Leigh Parrish, Chrissy Grimsley and Josh Parrish; 7 great grandchildren: Makayla Donnelly, Wes Donnelly, Lilly Wood, Max Mercado, Jacen Mercado, Chole Grimsley, Dekota Grimsley and 4 half brothers and sisters: Hilda Robbins, Mack Parrish, L. Violet Floyd Sexton Passes

WHITEVILLE- Violet Lorraine Floyd Sexton, 83 passed July 26, 2012. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Harold Shives. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. Born April 21, 1929 in High Point, the daughter of Marvin Reid and Florence Carroll Floyd who both preceded her in death along with two sisters, Ada Frazier and Lois Marie Yates and a granddaughter, Lauren Brooke Andrews. Married to Ed (Penn) Lindy Sexton, Jr. who preceded her in death on September 9, 2002. Surviving are six children, Linda Gail Massingill and husband David of Harrison, TN; Jerry Sexton and wife Susan of Myrtle Beach, SC; Aubrey Lee Sexton and wife Carolyn of Whiteville; Teresa Andrews of Trinity; Tammy Smith and husband Kenneth of Trinity; and Christopher Sexton of Whiteville; seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Charles L. Winslow

Charles L. Winslow, 80, of Thomasville, passed away, Monday, June 25, 2012, at his home. Funeral service will be held 2 pm, Thursday, June 28th, at Amity Hills Baptist Church; Rev. Barry Wall and Rev. Keith Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6 until 8 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Born on June 13, 1932 in Randolph County, a son of the late, William Thomas and Alma Smith Winslow. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother William Hal Winslow. On January 16, 1960 he married the love of his life the former Janet Wall. Charles was employed with the US Postal Service and retired after 30 years of service. He was a loving husband, brother, and friend. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Winslow of the home; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Hilton of High Point; and several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Myrtle Irene Rush, age 83, passed Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation. Family will receive friends Friday, June 22, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Rabon officiating. Entombment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. Born in Asheboro on August 23, 1928 to Wiley and Maude Vuncannon Rush. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her brothers John and Dock Rush and her sisters Ivamae Potts and Margie Redding. Survived by her sister, Bertha Maness Cooper of Asheboro, NC; her beloved cat, Smokey; great niece, Tammy Nelson of Medina, OH; sisters-in-law, Edith Rush and Levena "Pete" Norris and many nieces and nephews. Blanche Scotten Hiott Passes

Blanche Scotten Hiott, 93, of Thomasville passed away June 13, 2012 at the Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County. A service to celebrate her life, led by Dr. Ivan H.M. Peden and Rev. Peggy Finch will be held at JC Green Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Thomasville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, June 15, 2012 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. Born on November 2, 1918 to James O. Scotten and Mattie Miller Scotten. Preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Rudolf Hiott. She is survived by her family: Galen and Kathryn Hiott of Lexington, Gary and Carin Hiott of Trinity, and Rosemary and Ed Johnson of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Jennifer Johnson, and Carl and Ashleigh Hiott; sister-in-law Malynda Knight; nieces and nephews: Juli Moon, Dawn Lewis, Dana Davis, Gene Scotten, and Dedee Duvall. Jill Briles-Hinton Resigns

We have received late word that Jill Briles-Hinton has resigned as head coach of the Richmond Spider Golf team. Jill is a member of the LPGA and has coached both Richmond & the University of Florida Golf programs. Jill is the daughter of Joel & Sue Mattner Briles. Her line goes back to Conrad & Margaret Rush Briles. We wish Jill will spending time with her family!

Inez Parrish Bean Passes

Inez Parrish Bean, 90, passed Monday, June 4, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clayton Stoneman and Rev. Darrell Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Trinity, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 pm on Tuesday. Born to the late Oscar E. and Ida Lee Myers Parrish on January 10, 1922. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, a brother, Roy E. Parrish; sisters, Eva P. Freeman and Eutha P. Small; and a sister-in-law, Ehtel S. Parrish. On June 21, 1943 she was married to Paul Franklin Bean who predeceased her on February 17, 1963. Surviving is her daughter, Marsha Bean Hayduk of High Point; a sister, Ruby Parrish Loflin of High Point; a brother, Albert Parrish and his wife Alice of Trinity, NC and several nieces and nephews. Nancy Rush Cagle Dies

Nancy Rush Cagle, 91, passed Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral Services, 2 pm, Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Union Grove Christian Church, Asheboro; Dr. Julius Lambeth officiating. Wake: Visitation, 7 pm to 9 pm, Tuesday, Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Daughter of the late Jessie Warren & Sarah Henley Rush; born November 13, 1920, and graduated from Farmer High School in 1938. She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Acme-McCrary Hosiery. Preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Edward F. Cagle, her son, Charles W. Cagle, and by six brothers Jim, George, Richard, Ernest, Glenn, Zeb, and three sisters, Effie Winfrey, Jessie Branch, and Mary Ann Russell. Survivors: daughter, Hilda Sloat Harden, and husband, Bennie, of Coleridge, brothers, Robert Rush, and wife, Violet, Asheboro, Alson Rush, of Lexington , daughter-in-law, Diane Cagle Powers, and husband, Johnnie, of Coleridge, grandchildren, Craig Cagle (Tracey), Elizabeth "Betsy" Messick (Mike), and Angela Sloat Gunter, great grandchildren, Tiffany Ellis, Joshua Cagle, Jessica Messick and Jacob Messick, three great great grandchildren, and two step great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews

HIGH POINT-Anne Hill Fries, age 90, passed Saturday, April 21, 2012 at her residence in the arms of her daughter, Debbie. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 28th at 2:00 p.m. in Sechrest Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Micah Ray officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Mrs. Fries will be taken to Harrisonburg, Virginia on Monday for a visitation from 2:00 until 3:00pm in the Kyger-Trobaugh Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted Monday, April 30th at 3:00 p.m. in the Eastlawn Cemetery in Harrisonburg. Born September 27, 1921 in Thomasville to the late Cicero and Mary Lambeth Hill. Preceded in death by her husband Ward M. Fries on November 13, 1998. (m. May 23, 1944); four sisters, five brothers, and her husband on November 13, 1998. Surviving are her daughter; Deborah McDonald and husband Bob of Warrenton, Virginia. She is survived by many loving family members on both the Hill and Fries sides of the family, including her sisters-in-law: Doris Shifflett and Vera Acker. She is also survived by a special “grandson”, Hunter Scott, and wife Laura of Holmen, Wisconsin.

Mary Sue Yow Rush, age 66, of Asheboro passed Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Family will receive friends Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 12 noon - 1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Oaklawn Cemetery, with Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp officiating. Native of Randolph County and formerly of Dothan, AL; preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dale Rush and her parents, Augusta and Carene Powers Yow. Survived by her daughter, Kim Rush and Brad Hoogkamp of Asheboro; son, Tony Rush and his wife Jessica of Dothan, AL; grandchildren, Will Spencer, Pate Spencer and Easton Rush all of Dothan, AL; twin sister, Sara Hudson of Asheboro; brother, Harvey Yow of Asheboro.

Bettie Sue Smith Lawrence Dies

TRINITY – Mrs. Bettie Sue Smith Lawrence, 82, of Trinity, passed Saturday, November 12, 2011, at High Point Regional Cancer Center. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 16th, at 2 pm in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Pastor Danny Bank officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 pm Wednesday, prior to the service. Born in Davidson County, on September 21, 1929, a daughter to the late Fred Eugene and Lillian Beck Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wesley Lawrence, Jr. Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Lawrence Spencer and husband, Doug and B.J. Lawrence; two sons, Charles Wesley Lawrence, III and wife, Debbie and Kimball Lee Lawrence; a brother, Jarrell Smith; two sisters, Martha Pennington and Julia Burgess; and a granddaughter, Melanie Litton and many friends.

HIGH POINT-Samuel Kenneth “Ken” Rush, 80, passed Monday, October 17, 2011 at High Point Regional Hospital. A celebration of life funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at Cumby Family Funeral Service; Ken Clegg officiating. Burial will follow in Deep River Friends Meeting Cemetery. A visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Born September 14, 1931 in Randolph County, a son of the late Ernest and Effie (Kinley) Rush. Survived by his wife Patsy Hodgin Rush; a daughter, Debbie Rich and husband, Mark of High Point; two grandsons, Chris Beeson and wife, Shelly of New London, NC, and Matthew Rich and wife, Julie of High Point; two great grandsons, Connor Beeson and Austin Rich; four sisters, Cleo Myers and husband, Frank of Archdale, Peggy Hill of Archdale, Ann Poarch and husband, James of Valdese, NC, and Mary Lou George of High Point; two sister-in-laws, Jackie and Donna Sue Rush; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Donald Reese Yow, the son of Herbert & Rena Hollingsworth Yow passed on August 11, 2011. Lebanon United Methodist in Randleman with Rev. Carol Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born in Randolph County and was married to Ann H. Yow in 1961 and is survived by her and two children; Donald Gregory Yow of Randleman and Trisha Ann Henderson and her husband Todd of Franklinville; brothers, Glenn Yow, Bobby Yow and his wife Evelyn all of Asheboro; sisters; Jean McCollum, Peggy Brookshire and her husband Joe all of Randleman; three grandchildren, William Reece Henderson, Kynley Anna Henderson and Macey Nikole Henderson all of Franklinville. In addition to his parents Donald is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jack Mccollum and sister-in-law Kitty Yow.
