Ida Belle Briles Passing

We just received a notice for Ida Belle Briles who was born on January 3, 1935 and passed away on May 19, 2021. There is no obituary from Neptune Cremations or news outlets. We believe she was married to James Burl "Jim" Briles, both lived in Oregon.

Barbara Ann Kennedy Durham

Barbara Ann Kennedy Durham, 80, of High Point, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021, at her home.

Funerals services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 26, 2021, in the chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Rev. Joe Beane officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Wright Funerals-Cremations.

Born April 30, 1941, in Randolph County, she was a daughter of the late Roy Elder Kennedy and the late Nancy Allie Welborn Kennedy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde R. Durham and brother, Carlton Kennedy.

She is survived by her son, Robert Durham, daughter, Shonda Drohan; brother, Dennis Kennedy; sisters, Nancy Summer, Georgia Wagoner, and Marie Leonard; grandchildren, Jeri Ann Smoot (Chris) and Robert Williams; great-grandchildren, Dereka Berridge (Mike), Jennifer Berridge (Jonathon), Lawrence Edwards, and Kayden Williams; great-great-grandson, Elijah Stewart; canine companion, Angel; and great-great grand dogs, Josie and Scooby.

Loretta Mae Briles Hannigan

Loretta Mae Briles Hannigan, 89, of Shrewsbury, departed this life Wednesday, May 12, 2021, following a long illness.

Per her request, a small private memorial service will be held for immediate family. Burial will be Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens.

Born June 29, 1931 in Lincoln County to Noah and Mary Pinson Briles, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Myron Hannigan; and her brothers, Dennis, Beryl, and Don Briles.

Surviving are her children, Mickey Hannigan, Tom (Brenda) Hannigan, her twins, Cecilia (Jerry) Backus and Bruce (Robin) Hannigan; seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Josephine Van Scoyk Briles Dies


Josephine Briles passed away peacefully on May 6, 2021 at St. Lukes Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, Burlington, Kansas from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., May
18, 2021, followed by a graveside service at the Crandall, Kansas Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. 

Mrs. Briles was born on February 10, 1932 in LeRoy, Kansas to Vivian (Hunt) and Lewis Guy Van Scoyk. On June 18, 1950, Josephine married John F. Briles at the Crandall United Brethren Church.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Van Scoyk, Vivian and Bob Helmer; husband, Rev. John F. Briles Sr.; grandson, Matthew Briles. 

She is survived by her children, John F. Briles Jr., Noah (Fonda) Briles, JoAnn Briles-Klein, and Lois (Mike Peters) Briles; grandchildren, Laura (Dan Luckey) Klein, Jonathan (Melissa) Briles, and one great- granddaughter, Arya. She is also survived by her only brother, Robert (Alida) Helmer; sisters-in-law, Mildred Briles and Virginia Mitchell.

Timothy Dwight Briles Dies


Timothy Dwight Briles, age 61 of Asheboro, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro with Rev. Gregg Arnold officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave, Asheboro.


Tim was born in Davidson County to Jake Briles and Harriet Floyd Pullman. Tim is preceded in death by his father, Jake Briles; and sister, Tammy Bledsoe Humphreys. Tim is survived by his wife of 32 years, Laura Pierce Briles; daughter, Brittney Deese and husband Zaven of Asheboro; son, Brett Briles of Asheboro; mother, Harriet Briles Pullman of Trinity; brother, Doug Briles and wife Rebecca of Asheboro; sister, Vicky Hinsley and husband Mark of Coleridge.

Barbara Jean "B.J." Kindley Brady

Barbara Jean "B.J." Kindley Brady, 77, of Asheboro, passed away, Thursday, May 6, 2021 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Cannon officiating. Entombment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021, prior to the service.

Mrs. Brady was born on April 27, 1944 in Davidson County, NC, to the late Quinten Kindley and Monnie Spencer Kindley Caviness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Franklin Brady, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, April McCormick and husband Mark; brother, Larry Kindley and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Abigail Snow and husband Will, and Rebecka McCormick; great grandchildren, Lillian Payne, Brookelynn Payne, and Weslee Snow. Also surviving are her stepsons, Scott Brady, Jeffery Brady, Eric Brady and their families; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
