Darlene Wheeler Scell Briles

Darlene Scell Briles, 63, of Gastonia, NC, died on Wednesday, April 27th 2022.

The family will receive friends at the home of Dean and Karen Wheeler on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 from 4 pm-6 pm.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Scell; her father, Gene (Red) Wheeler; mother, Doris Whitley Wheeler; and one grandchild.

She’s survived by her children, Johnny Stowe and Nancy Stowe Chabut; siblings, Dean Wheeler and Doris (Net) Coffman; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Briles was married to Ronald Dale Briles.


Dale Wayne Summey Died



Mr. Dale Wayne Summey, 56, a resident of East Old Hwy 64 passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022 at his residence.  By his personal request Mr. Summey will be cremated.

He was born May 1, 1965 in Randolph County, NC, the son of the late Wayne Summey and Willa Mae Wright Summey. 

Surviving are, one son, Dustin Shane Summey of the home; one daughter, Felisha Gale Harrison of Tulsa, OK; three grandchildren, Layken Gillis, Keelyn Kissee, and Taylen Hulin.

"Thomas A Peeper" Hits the KCFFI!!!


'Thomas A Peeper' has arrived at the Kansas City Film Festival International! Filmmakers Bill Briles and his wife Aleta Doroudian Briles are set to debut their flick today, April 28, 2022 at 4:05 CDT. 

The narrative, taken from the festival itself states "In a five-day period, Modesty Divine’s life becomes entangled in disastrous ways with her new eccentric gardener Thomas, which includes the apparent accidental death (or murder) of her soon-to be ex-husband Ash."

The flick is 83 minutes in length and if you catch this post, 'Thomas A Peeper' is playing at the AMC Ward Parkway Theater 4!!! This is either the fifth or sixth feature film in the dynamic duo's career in filmmaking! Others include, First Shoot the Lawyers, Romance at Frisky's Bar, A "Private Dancer" in Mom's Kitchen" and in pre-production, My High School Girlfriend, Your Wife..."

Roger Brantley Smith


Roger Brantley Smith, Sr., 87, of Asheboro, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at his home.
 
Mr. Smith will lie in repose from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Science Hill Friends Meeting with Rev. Brady Morrison and Rev. John Porter officiating.
 
A native of Randolph Co., Roger was born on January 4, 1935 to the late William Frank Smith and Irene Strader Smith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Roger Smith, Jr.; brothers, Frank Smith, Jr., Garland Smith, Richard Smith, Archie Smith; and sister, Peggy Briles. Roger is survived by his wife, Doris Briles Smith; daughter, Laresa Ann Davis; sister, Doloris Briles; grandchildren, Katie Smith, Tyson Davis, Clint Smith, Treva Gates; and great grandchildren, Henry Smith and Ruby Gates.

Two Cemeteries Updated!

The Briles Information Network has completed the updates for two cemeteries in Randolph County, North Carolina. The BIN transcribed and photographed each cemetery dating back to 2005, 2009, 2019, and 2022. The BIN is working on a script to indicate if someone buried in the cemeteries is related to the Briles Surname, other than the obvious. Next up on the list is Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Randolph County, NC.

Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery
is located at 2661 Ross Wood Road Trinity, Randolph County, North Carolina. We completed the survey on April 15, 2022. 350+ memorials have been added to the listing, however there are some grave sites that aren't marked. This church is still active with the lastest burial in March, 2022, Dennis Lynn Tester. The Briles Information Network is currently working on a documentary on this cemetery, courtesy of Video Impressions, a subsidiary of the BIN.

Mt. Pleasant Community Church Cemetery,
formally a United Methodist Church, is located at 4713 Cashatt Rd in Trinity, Randolph County, North Carolina. We completed the survey on April 20, 2022. 380+ memorials have been added to this listing and like above, there are many unmarked grave sites. My great, great grandparents Joseph Lafayette & Roxana Spencer Briles are buried at Mt. Pleasant. This is an active church with the latest burial on April 20, 2022 (Wiley Craig Hunt).

Norma Jean Floyd Dies, Her Grandmother is Fatima Briles Floyd

TRINITY – Norma Jean Floyd, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at High Point Medical Center.

Graveside service celebrating Jean’s life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Hopewell United Methodist Church Columbarium with Pastor Josh Barnes officiating. The family will speak with friends immediately following the service.

Jean was born May 16, 1936, in Trinity and was the daughter of the late Cicero and Lula Williams Floyd.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Floyd, Ruth Royals, Helen Robbins and Kathleen Hill; and four brothers, Paul Floyd, Cicero “Ham” Floyd, Howard Floyd and Charlie “Beeson” Floyd.

Jean is survived by her son, Thomas “Tom” Floyd of Trinity; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Brower of Asheboro; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.


Ms. Floyd's Grandmother is Fatima Briles Floyd.

Mark Edward Holder

Wolcott, IN- Mark Edward Holder, 62, of Wolcott, passed Tuesday April 19th 2022 surrounded by family. Friends may call from 2-5 PM (EST) Saturday April 23rd 2022 at the Wolcott Christian Church. Funeral service will follow directly after at 5pm at the Wolcott Christian Church. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Born August 3 1959 in Lafayette, IN to the late Ralph and Mary (Briles) Holder, who survives.

Surviving Mark is his wife Debbie (Poore) Holder of Wolcott (m: September 2, 1978); children, daughter Karena (Zach) Price of Remington and daughter Karie Jo Holder of Wolcott. Grandchildren, Kaden (fiancé Havannah Willams), Wesley Price, Keegan Holder Bella Price, Zoie Price and Juvens Price; mother Mary (Briles) Holder of Fowler, IN; brother Jeff Holder of West Lafayette, sister Kim Holder of Fowler IN, sister Lisa (Chet) Green Warsaw OH, brother Mike (Mary) Holder Remington IN and Dwayne Holder Fowler IN. Many Uncles and Aunts Nieces Nephews also survive him.

Preceding Mark in death is his father, Ralph Holder, grandchildren Haden &Jaden, Finley, Sloan, Avery, Holden & Hunter and Scarlett Price; nephew Zachary Glen Holder; father and mother in law Alvis and Betty (Clark) Poore; grandparents Glen and Martha (Lang) Briles and Roy and Delores (Hall) Holder.

Charles William Briles, Jr., 94, Dies


Charles William Briles, Jr., 94, of Archdale, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022, at his home.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Elton Wilburn officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
Born August 28, 1927, in Randolph County, he was a son of the late Charles W. Briles and the late Mary Brown Briles.

Charles is survived by his sons, Dr. Charles Briles, III and wife Dr. Aleta Briles of Arizona, and Rev. Mickey Briles and wife Deana of Archdale; brother, Darrell Briles and wife Lovetta of Sophia; sister, Eva Jay Farlow of Florida; and grandchildren, Colton Briles and Caroline Briles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Smith Briles.

Lynda Jernigan Briles

Lynda Jernigan Briles, 68, passed away April 5, 2022. Services for Lynda will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Southcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A small visitation will be held before the service starting at 12:00 pm.

Born December 23, 1953, in Lubbock to Willian Henry & Helen LaFern Jernigan. In June of 1974, she married Bruce Wayne Briles in Lubbock who passed in 1987. 

Surviving are her son, Eric Briles of Lubbock; her brother, Ronald Dean Jernigan of West, TX; two sisters, Jacquline Ann Murphy of Lubbock, Barbara Helen Gross of Wolfforth.

Rusaline “Rusty” Briles Cassidy


Rusaline “Rusty” Briles Cassidy, 83, of Trinity, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Friday, April 15, 2022, at Holly Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Tony Moore officiating.

Born August 18, 1938, in Davidson County, she was a daughter of the late Russell Briles and the late Zola Summey Briles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Buddy” Cassisdy, grandson, Russell Marshburn; brothers, Lee Briles and Marion Briles, sister, and Imogene Briles.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Marshburn and husband Jamey of Trinity, granddaughter, Chelley Sonner, and great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Sonner.

James “Jim” Edwin Briles Dies


James “Jim” Edwin Briles passed away on April 3, 2022 with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life Service for Jim is pending.

Born January 8, 1934 in Bell California to Emmett James and Mary Martin Briles. United States Army Veteran. Preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Mary Briles; and brother, Bill Briles. 

Left to cherish many years of precious memories are his wife of 54 years; Marilyn Briles; daughters, Sharon Burgess and husband Jack, Donna Vanwestrienen and husband Darreld, Patricia Holland and husband Patrick; sons, Earl Riley and wife Olivia, and Carl Riley and wife Kim; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Johnny Ray Parrish Dies


Johnny Ray Parrish, 62, born November 23, 1959, passed away peacefully at his home on April 5, 2022 with family by his side. There will be a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Johnny is proceeded in death by his parents, Ray Parrish and Esther McDowell Parrish; sister, Peggy Boggs; and brother, Tony Parrish.

Johnny is survived by his son, Terry Ray Roberts of Star; two sisters, Judy Parrish York (husband Danny York) and Linda Parrish Dunn both of Asheboro; companion, Gisela Gwen Rabon of the home; granddaughter, Michaela Barnes of Ohio; and several nieces and Nephews.

Elner Lucille “Lucy” Noah

Elner Lucille “Lucy” Noah, 80,  passed Tuesday, April 5, 2022 with family by her side.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 am, Friday, April 8, 2022, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel conducted by Pastor Rodney Smith. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am till 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service.

Lucy was born June 10, 1941, in Davidson County to Percy Watson Hulin and Josie Briles Hulin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Burchell “Buck” Noah, son Michael Wesley Noah, brothers; Billy, Jesse James, Clayton, Tommy, Terry Hulin, sisters; Hazel Hoover, Edna Pennington and Virgie Hulin.

Lucy is survived by two grandchildren, Wesley Tate Noah (Aleisha), Korrie Noah Martin, two great grandchildren, Everly Martin and Fischer Martin.

Mamie Kathryn Miller Robbins

Mamie Kathryn Miller Robbins, 88, of Trinity, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at her home.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Joshua Barnes officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.

Born May 4, 1933, in Randolph County, she was a daughter of the late William Virgil Miller and the late Effie Floyd Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Levi Robbins in 2009, brothers, Clinton Miller, and Bud Miller.

Kat is survived by her son, Randy Robbins and wife Lisa of Trinity, sisters, Shirley Clark and husband Douglas, Brenda Kennedy and husband Mike, and Rachel Trexler and husband Ronnie all of Trinity; grandsons, Daniel Robbins, and Justin Robbins.

Irvin Clarence Brown

Irvin Clarence Brown, 94, of Asheboro, died Friday, April 1, 2022, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Mr. Brown will lie in repose from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro. The family will recieve friends on Wednesday following the graveside service. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Randleman, with Rev. Mark Hall officiating.

Born in Cedar Falls, NC on March 29, 1928, Irvin was the son of the late Colvin Clarence Brown and Ethel Caroline Laughlin Brown. 

In additon to his parents, Irvin was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Martha Ellen Glenn Brown; sister, Betty Bowers and brothers, Ray Brown, J.B. Brown, Jimmy Brown and Allen Brown.

Surviving are his daughter, Lynn Brown Barham and husband, Don of Cornelius; sons, Mike Brown of Winston-Salem, Reid Brown and wife, Terri of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Virginia Brown of Asheboro; brother-in-law, Don Hill of Dekalb, IL; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
