Zelda Warren Pierce Willard

Zelda Warren Pierce Willard, 78, of  Floyd, VA passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Walter’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Shannon Hicks. A celebration of life service is being planned for a later date at Beaver Creek Baptist Church in Floyd, VA. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.

Zelda was born in Davidson County on December 19, 1942, to the late Rev. Warren E. Pierce and the late Oleene Gallimore Pierce. 

She is survived by son, L. Allen Willard and wife Susan of Floyd, VA; daughter, Melanie W. Ratcliff and husband James of Floyd, VA; brother, Phillip L. Pierce and wife Donna of Denton; sisters, Brenda P. Wicker of Randleman and Joy P. Leonard and husband Mark of Lexington; 4 grandchildren, Rusty Moore, Nicholas Willard, Ashley Willard, and Warren Ratcliff; 2 great-grandchildren, Jayden Moore and Raelyn Moore; nephews, Tony Pierce, Kelly Wicker, Stacy Wicker, and Jeremy Wicker; and her uncle, Doak Gallimore.

William L. “Bill” Briles, 67, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday May 30, 2012 at Golden Living Center. Services will be 10:00 am Saturday June 2, 2012 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday June 1, 2012 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel.Born on September 29, 1944 in Linton and was the son of the late William Edgar and Ruth (Shoufler) Briles. Army Veteran. Survivors include his wife of 32 years Millie Briles of Bloomington, one son Ty Briles of Bloomington, one sister Carole Briles of Ellettsville, two brothers Harold Briles (Deloris) of Ellettsville and Roy Briles (Lorna) of Bloomington, 2 nieces and 3nephews, 3 brothers-in-law Steve Hardin of Maryland, Ric Hardin of Bloomington and Tim Hardin of Noblesville and his uncle John Briles (Dee) of Bloomington.

Hazel Skeen Ennis Dies

Hazel Lee Skeen Ennis, age 89, of Asheboro, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at High Point Regional Hospital. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home, 908 Albemarle Road, on Friday evening, November 11, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011, at West Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Outen and Rev. Lee Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Born September 24, 1922, in Asheboro to the late Herbert and Nannie Poole Skeen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Britt, Clifford and J.D. Skeen, and her husband, Clarence Ennis. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Robert Whitehorne, of High Point; her grandchildren, Andrew Whitehorne and Kathryn Whitehorne and her fiancé, Cory Duncan, all of Raleigh; her brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Eva Skeen of Robbins; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jesse Wade Parks Passes

SALISBURY - Jesse Wade Parks, 21, of Salisbury, passed Monday, July 18, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral service was held at at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2001 in the Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home chapel, conducted by Pastor Sherri Barnes. Burial followed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Born May 27, 1990, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of Craig Dean and Marnita Rogers Parks of Salisbury. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Norma Rogers of Salisbury and Donald and Peggy Metters Parks of Lexington. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Jacob Franklin Parks of the home

Mt. Gilead Cemetery Next to be Transcribed

The Briles Information Network would like to announce that Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church Cemetery will be the next cemetery to be transcribed and photographed. Briles Descendant Runs for Thomasville City Council

Joel Pierce is running for City Council of Thomasville, NC. The Nonpartisan plurality election is set for November 8, 2011 where seven seats are up for grabs. Joel Pierce is a Briles descendant, twice! He is the son of Nolan Irvin & Bonnie Grubb Pierce. His lineage dates back to Ansel & Mary Briles Pearce (Mary, Frederick Briles, Conrad Briles) and through his grandmother's family, Millie Barnes Pierce. Her line also goes back to Conrad & Margaret Rush Briles because her grandparents are Henry and Elizabeth Kindley Barnes (Elizabeth Kindley, Jacob, William, Shadrach and Margaret Briles Kindley, Michael Briles, Conrad Briles).
