Joseph Kindley Passes

Mr. Joseph Roosevelt Kindley, 89, passed October 16, 2006 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Born on September 17, 1917 in Randolph Co. to Edward Kindley and Julia Gibson Kindley. He was employed with several local furniture manufacturers and a lifelong member of Free Grace Mission Holiness Church. Preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Iva Ruth Summey Kindley on September 30, 2006, two sons, Don Kinley and Harold Kinley, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers. Surviving are his children, Ruth Ann Kinney of Asheboro, Helen Shelley and her husband Boyd of Thomasville, Larry Kinley and his wife Lynn of Thomasville, James Kinley and his wife Neta of Denton, Winfred Kinley of Denton, Rebecca “Becky” Lanier and her husband Jeff of Denton, and Stephen Kinley of Trinity; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Stephen Stowe officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM and at other times at the residence. Beatrice Thorpe Wallace Passes

ASHEBORO-Beatrice T. Wallace, age 89, passed October 25, 2006, at Randolph Hospital. Funeral services will be October 27th at 11:00 a.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Gene Goldfinch and Rev. Jeff Joyce officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Falls United Methodist Church cemetery. Born September 24, 1917 to Rully and Ena Marable Thorpe. Preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George C. Wallace; brother, James F. Thorpe, Sr; and sisters, Julia Briles and Mary Thorpe; niece, Debbie Benton of Charlotte; nephew, James F. Thorpe, Jr. of Cedar Falls. Survived by a sister, Frances Musselwhite of Asheboro; niece, Sue Allred of Asheboro; nephew, Sam Musselwhite of Asheboro; great-nephew, Jay Thorpe of Randleman; great-niece, Alison Briles of Asheboro. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral and other times at the home of her niece, Sue Allred, 437 Foxworth Rd., Asheboro. Mr. Lester Parrish Passes

DENTON — Mr. C. Lester Parrish, age 89, passed Oct. 24, 2006, at his home. Funeral service will be Oct. 28th, at 2 p.m. at Pierce’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church; Elder Johnny Ray Gardner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Born Dec. 13, 1916, in Randolph County to Onslow and Velora Wood Parrish. He had worked as a self-employed logger and had also worked at Harrelson Rubber Company in Asheboro. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended Pierce’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Mae Loflin Parrish in 1972; and by a grandson, Neil Kindley.Survivors are wife, Letha Gordon Parrish of the home; stepson, Edward Loflin and wife, Susan, of Denton; daughters, Carol Parrish of Denton, Bonnie Swaney and husband, Donald, of Asheboro, and Kathy Bowers and husband, Dwight, of Thomasville; sisters, Lela Briles and Blanche Bray, both of Trinity; grandchild, Nathan Kindley; two step-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton, and other times at the home of the daughter on Sawyersville Road, Asheboro.-Briggs

Mrs. Edith Briles Hoover Passes Away

BENNETT — Mrs. Edith Briles Hoover, 75, passed Oct. 9, 2006, at Mariner Health Care in Asheboro. Funeral service will be Oct. 12th at 3 p.m. at Sawyersville Wesleyan Church; Rev. Darrell Rabon and the Rev. James Brewer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Native of Randolph County, the widow of Herman W. Hoover and she attended Brown’s Chapel Christian Church in Spies. Survivors are daughter, June Hoover Albright and husband, Gary, of Bennett; son, Darrell W. Mr. Clay Yates Passes

ASEHBORO- Clay Edward Yates, 88, passed October 8, 2006 at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro. Funeral will be 2:00 PM.Tuesday, October 10th at Pleasant Union Community Church in Jackson’s Creek with Rev. Gary Phaub officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Yates grew up in Jackson’s Creek, NC and graduated from Farmer High School. He enjoyed sports and played baseball, basketball and loved quail hunting. He was employed by Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mill and later started his own wholesale and retail egg business. He sold his egg business and began raising quail and operating Clay Yates Hunting Preserve. Clay was a faithful member and longtime member of Pleasant Union Community Church. Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ester Briles Yates. Survived by his daughters, Judy and husband Pat Adams of Greensboro, NC.; Jayne and husband Rick Lutz of High Point, NC.; grandchildren, Elaine A. Seales and husband Timmy; Kimberly A. Armstrong and husband Don; John Clay Adams and wife Alyssa; Jennifer Lutz and Andrew Lutz; four great grandchildren.; brothers, Glenn Yates and George Yates both of Jackson’s Creek, NC., Wade Yates of Asheboro, NC. -Pugh

Iva Ruth Summey Kindley Passes

TRINITY — Mrs. Iva Ruth Summey Kindley, 84, passed Sept. 30, 2006, at her home. Funeral service was held on Oct. 3, 2006, at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville; Rev. Stephen Stowe officiating. Burial was at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Born on Aug. 16, 1922, in Randolph County, to Samuel Lee Summey and Elsie Beatrice Briles Summey. Preceded in death by two sons, Don Kinley and Harold Kinley. On Aug. 8, 1940, she married Joseph Roosevelt Kindley, who survives of the home; also surviving are her children, Ruth Ann Kinney of Asheboro, Helen Shelley and her husband, Boyd, of Thomasville, Larry Kinley and his wife, Lynn, of Thomasville, James Kinley and his wife, Neta, of Denton, Winfred Kinley of Denton, Rebecca “Becky” Lanier and her husband, Jeff, of Denton, and Stephen Kinley of Trinity; two sisters, Catherine Hunt and Betty “Jane” Swaim, both of Trinity; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.-JC Green
