Ora McDowell Clark, age 91, of Asheboro passed away on April 18, 2024.


The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 1:00-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.  Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Miller officiating.  Interment will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery.


Mrs. Clark was born in the Jackson Creek Community of Randolph County on April 20,1932 to Arthur and Ocia Small McDowell.  


In addition to her parents, Ora was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ernest Leroy Clark, 3 brothers, and 6 sisters. 


She is survived by her daughter, Gale Clark Hasty and husband Timmy of Randleman, and sister, Louise M. Lambeth of Thomasville.

Gary Wayne Kindley Sr, 78, of Denton, passed away Monday morning, April 15, 2024, at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 4:00 PM, in the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel officiated by Rev. Josh Britton, Rev. Hulon Pait and Rev. Cindy Ramirez. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the funeral home.

Gary was born on September 2, 1945, in Davidson County to the late Jesse Wayne Kindley and Mary Lee Crouse Kindley. US Army veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Janice Markham Kindley, of the home; daughters, Cindy Ramirez, of Linwood, and Michelle Kindley Snider (Clinton), of Denton; son, Gary Wayne Kindley Jr. (Christine), of Clemmons; sisters, Marilyn Kindley Taylor (Rocky), of Denton, and Frances Kindley Lanier (Denton); eight grandchildren, Carrie Michelle Snider (Matthew), Jennifer Snider Hepler (Josh), Amanda Snider Davis (Jordan), Captain Benjamin Ramirez-Kindley (Molly), Gabriel Ramirez-Kindley, Dante Kindley, Darwin Kindley (Jessie), and Kira Kindley; and five great grandchildren, Skylar Hepler, Raylin Hepler, Tatum Hepler, Raleigh Davis, and Renlee Davis.

Mrs. Carolyn Denese Hughes, 81, of E. US Highway 64, Thomasville, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.  


A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Sam Lewis officiating.  No formal visitation will be held.  


She was born on December 9, 1942 in Davidson County, NC to Clyde Lester Hughes and Sadie Elizabeth Kinley Hughes. 


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Sluder; and 3 brothers, Donald Lester Hughes, Frankie Edward Hughes, and GB Hughes. 


Surviving is her son, Curtis Wayne Sluder of Thomasville with all his memories of his mother; her best friend, Frank Sides of Thomasville; her brother, Odie Paul Hughes and wife Linda of Thomasville; her sister, Jeweldean Hughes Kinney of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.

Georgia Leigh Skeen Staley, 83, of Ramseur, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at Randolph Health, in Asheboro.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, prior to the serivce, at Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.

Born July 2, 1940, in Randolph Co., Mrs. Staley was the daughter of the late Charles and Maggie Merritt Skeen. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Staley was preceded in death by her son, John Michael Staley; sister, Betty Caviness; and brothers, Charles Skeen and Tommy Skeen.

Surviving are husband, John Calvin "J.C." Staley of the home; and several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Pam Teague (Harold) of Seagrove.

Tommie Ann Robbins, age 49, of Asheboro passed away on March 31, 2024, at her home. 

Visitation for Tommie will be held from 1-3PM Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Midstate Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel.

She was born in Asheboro, North Carolina on July 15, 1974, to her parents, Judy Floyd and Thomas Robbins. 

Surviving are her parents, Judy Floyd and Thomas Robbins; her older sister, Wendy Garner; her daughters, Cortni Robbins, Makayla Robbins, and Callie Robbins; her grandchildren, Fenris Martin, Piper Martin, and Baylor Gregory.

Gerry Edgar Floyd Sr., age 66, of Asheboro passed away April 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. 

The family will hold a private service at a later date.

He was born March 10, 1958 in Randolph County, North Carolina the son of Reba Hoover Floyd and the late Thurman Floyd. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Floyd.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Rebecca Floyd; children, Crystal Tremaroli and husband Brad; Gerry Floyd Jr., Amber Spisak, Amanda Hutchins, and Adam Davis and wife Giana; five grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Albright and Sandra Floyd; his grand dogs; and numerous other family and friends.

Earlene Sexton Way, age 97, of Greensboro passed away on April 4, 2024 at Verra Springs at Heritage Greens.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Oaklawn Cemetery, 737 Albemarle Road in Asheboro with Scott Reavis officiating.  

Mrs. Way was born in Davidson County on February 20, 1927 to William and Gnettie Kindley Sexton. In addition to her parents, Earlene was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Newman Way, and her eight siblings, Alton Sexton, Wesley Sexton, Wayne Sexton, Hobert Sexton, Joel Sexton, Willena Russell, Paula Durham, and Sula Belle Sexton. 

She is survived by her daughter, Candice W. Reavis and husband Steve of Elon; sons, Steven P. Way and fiancée Lisa Brantley of Asheboro and Samuel E. Way and wife Peggy of Greensboro; grandchildren, Tracy McCart and husband Jason, Scott Reavis and wife Melanie, Kevin Way and wife Alyssa, Sarah Reavis, Julie Silverman and husband William, and Samantha Way; and 9 great grandchildren.

Kenneth Dwain Robbins, 63, of Sophia passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at his home.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 1:00 until 1:50 p.m. at Providence Friends Meeting, 2054 Providence Church Road, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Rollins officiating. Interment will follow the service at Randolph Memorial Park.

Kenneth was born in Randolph County on April 1, 1960, son of Lloyd Kenneth Robbins and Nancy Freeman Robbins. Robbins was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Kenneth Robbins and his wife, Tonja Robbins.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Michael Robbins and wife Kelly of Asheboro, Karen McSwain and husband Richard of Siler City, and Justin Robbins and wife Julie of Franklinville; step-son, Ryan Fox of Mooresville; mother, Ms. Nancy Ann Robbins of Asheboro; grandchildren, Tylor, Sarah, Jalen, Isaiah, Ean, Eli, and Evan; sister, Kimberly Tysinger and husband David of High Point; mother-in-law, Dottie Rollins of Sophia; father-in-law, Larry Swaim and wife Lola of Franklinville; brother-in-law, Kevin Rollins and wife Jeanette of Asheboro; sister-in-law Anita Cole and husband Jim of Hickory; and several nieces and nephews.

Janice Elaine Freedle Cook, 73, of High Point, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Pennybyrn at Maryfield in Jamestown.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11 AM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville. Burial will follow the service at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1410 Lexington Ave, Thomasville, NC.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

 She was born November 22, 1950 in Davidson County, NC to the late, Raymond Freedle and Lena Mae Parrish. In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by a brother, Sammy Freedle. 

Janice is survived by her daughter, Karen Bowers of Jamestown; her son, Brian Cook and wife Tina of Thomasville; a brother, James Freedle and wife Vickie of Lilburn, GA; three grandchildren, Chastity Brinkley, Copeland Bowers, Alyssa Martin; two great-grandchildren, Oliver Leonard, Emma Seech; special niece and caregiver, Laura Gregg and husband Jae of Lexington; several nieces and nephews.

Born in Randolph County, NC on February 9, 1954, Janet was the daughter of the late Harold Devoy Hoover and Connie Lee Maness Hoover.

Aiko Briles, 97, of Eagle Point, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024 at her residence. She was born on January 16, 1927 and was married to the late Owen Emmit Briles Jr. who passed in 2003. Her son, Martin L. Briles passed in 2022. There is no information regarding services at this time. Conger-Morris Funeral Home is servicing the Br. iles Family.

Everett "Buck" Lee Small, 89, of Asheboro, died Thursday, March 21, 2024, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Private services are being held.


Buck was born on November 13, 1934, in Randolph County, the son of the late Ream Small and Eunice Pierce Small.  U.S. Army veteran.


In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his brothers, Lindsay Small, Clay Small, Lloyd Small, Hoyle Small; sisters, Ocia McDowell, Kate Skeen, Kathleen Yow, Esther Davidson, Annie Mae Robbins, and Marie Freeman.


Surviving are his wife, Evelean Small of the home; daughter, Karen Holland and husband Dale of Charleston, SC; sisters, Allene Gallimore of Lexington; grandchildren, Kayla Nicole Holland, and James Ross Holland and wife Madison.

Born in Davidson County on February 5, 1944, she was the daughter of Melvin and Rona Pearce Garner. She was preceded in death by a sister, Adrena Gallimore. She was a member at Bethel Baptist Church and formerly at West Stanly Baptist Church in Albemarle.

Mr. Van “Boogie” Weldon Hicks, Sr. 83, of Lexington, died at Atrium Health High Point Hospital on Monday, March, 18, 2024.

He was born on June 24, 1940, in Randolph County to the late Carl Lee Hicks and Viola Kindley Hicks. In addition to his parents, Boogie is preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice Summey, Ruby Gallimore, Crissy Jane Smith; five brothers, T.J. Hicks, L.C. Hicks, Roland Hicks, Richard Hicks, Hoyt Hicks; a great-grandson, Kaleb Dill.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Briles will lie in repose from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro. 


Born in Randolph County, NC, on July 12, 1931, Donna was the daughter of the late Robie Elsie Gallimore and Alice Myrtle Hoover Gallimore. 


In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death her husband, Gilbert Briles; sister, Margaret Briles; and brother, Burnis Gallimore.


Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis Caviness (Gary W.) of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Gallimore of Trinity; granddaughter, Natalie Caviness; and her schnauzer, Chloe.

Patty was born on June 11, 1954, in Davidson County, NC, the daughter of Lloyd Julius Kinley and Jimmie Whitted Kinley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Louise Kinley Morris.

Carole Briles, age 81, passed away at McCormick’s Creek Healthcare Center on January 30, 2024. 

A visitation will be held at Allen Funeral Home (4155 S. Old State Road 37. Bloomington, IN 47401) on March 16, 2024 from 10am-12pm with a funeral service at 12pm officiated by Reverend Gregory Briles of Genesis Church and Reverend Ron Henson of Ellettsville First Assembly of God. Burial will follow at Flynn Cemetery at 1:30pm. 

She was born in Linton, IN, on August 13, 1942 to Edgar and Ruth Briles. Survivors include brothers Harold Briles and Roy (Lorna) Briles, nephews and nieces, Greg, Amanda, David Debbie, and Ty; and sister-in-law, Millie Briles. She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, William.

She was born on October 7, 1934 in Davidson County to the late Dora Cody Pierce and Robert Pierce. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Bryant, and her sister, Joyce Pierce Payne. Surviving is her brother, Buck Pierce and wife Nancy of Thomasville; several nieces and nephews; and several extended family members and friends.

Mary Olean Kindley Proctor, 98, of High Point, passed away, Friday, January 5, 2024, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.

Born, October 20, 1925, in Asheboro, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Astor Maness in 1983 and Robert Proctor in 2015.

Surviving is her daughter, Dawn Chapman and her husband Bernie of Trinity; grandchildren, Wesley Chapman and his wife Adrianna, Jaylan Chapman; great-grandchildren, Addi Chapman and Weston Chapman; and her sister, Ann Harkey.

Patsy Briles Holt passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 after a sudden and brief illness.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Alamance Presbyterian Church.

She was the daughter of the late Dalton and Lula Mae Moon Briles. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry G. Holt and infant daughter Melinda Shawn Holt. She is survived by daughter Sharon Holt Carter (Jimmy), son Kevin Holt ( girlfriend Melinda), grandson Travis Carter, sisters-in-law Martha Holt, Peggy H. Fields (Buddy), and many nieces and nephews.
