Vietnam Vet Gerald Thomas “Jerry” Briles

Gerald Thomas “Jerry” Briles, 67, of Stephens City, VA died Monday, June 8, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C. family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home with his father-in-law, Mr. John Maisch officiating, followed by a reception at South Chapel. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Born in 1948 in Washington, D. C., the son of the late Joseph Wheeler and Helen Lions Briles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving four tours in Vietnam; received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and numerous other medals during his military service.  Mr. Briles married Lisa M. Briles on December 30, 1989 in Hocking County, Ohio. Surviving with his wife is a brother, David Briles (Judy) of Bowie Maryland. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Kryder.

Nathan Charles Kindley's Death

 Nathan Charles Kindley age 48, of N. Main St. Denton died June 10, 2015 at his residence. A private graveside inurnment will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Born August 1, 1966 in Randolph County to Charles Leo Kindley and Carol Jean Parrish. In addition to his parents Nathan was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Neil Kindley. Nathan is survived by aunts and uncles.

Mary Kennedy Black Dies, Grandmother is Sarah Briles

Mary Kennedy Black, 92, a resident of Hopewell Church Rd., died Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Hospice Home at High Point. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ken Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside service in the church and at other times at the home of her daughter, Joyce. Mrs. Black will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church prior to the service. Born on June 13, 1922 in Randolph County, NC to James David Kennedy and Grace Luemma Walker Kennedy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jones Black on September 27, 2000, whom she married on November 18, 1939; daughter, Brenda Hedrick in July 2001; son-in-law, Roger Hedrick in January 2001; brothers, Lee, Dolphus, and Wade Kennedy; and sister, Gladys Crotts. Surviving are her daughter, Joyce Hill and husband Eddie, of Trinity; grandchildren, Dale Hedrick and wife Norma, Paul Scott Hedrick and wife Kelly, Mike Hill and wife Kathy, and Paula Sikes and husband Robbie; great-grandchildren, Nick Hill and wife Katie, Alex Hill, Lindsay Hedrick, Adam Shew and wife Priscilla, Lane Hedrick, and Chet Sikes; and great-great granddaughter, Victoria Shew.

Reba Varner Briles

Reba Varner Briles, 88, formerly of Jamestown, died June 7, 2015 at Westchester Manor in High Point. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. Born May 16th, 1927 in Guilford County, a daughter to the late William R. and Mary Belle Jordan Varner. In 1947 she married William Monroe Briles who preceded her in death in 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded by a daugher, Shirley Ann Briles in 2000. Surviving is a son, William (Bill) M. Briles III of Jamestown; a sister, Nancie V. Williams of Jamestown; two grandchildren, Mary Ann Sexton and Christopher W. Brady; and four great grandchildren, Jennifer, Maggie and Sophie Sexton and Jonathan Brady.

Vicki Ann Briles Dies

HILDEBRAN- Vicki Ann Briles, 54, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at her residence. Services will be Monday, June 8, at 3:00 PM at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Makant officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, June 8, at Hickory Funeral Home from 1:00 – 2:45 PM.Born November 12, 1960 in Catawba Co. to Jo Ann McAdams Briles and the late Edward Lloyd Briles. Surviving is her mother, Jo Ann Briles; daughter, Haley Walker and fiancĂ©, Wesley Helton; granddaughter, Lacie Helton; grandson, Waylon Helton; brother, Rick Briles and wife, Cindy; sister, Sandi Wagner and husband, Kenny; niece, Amanda Briles; nephew, Tyler Wagner and numerous friends and cousins.
