Darrell Troy Parrish Dies

Darrell Troy Parrish, 86 of High Point died Monday, September 19, 2016 at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday September 23nd at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point. with the Reverend David Umphlett officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Born October 14, 1929 in Randolph County he is a son of the late Troy Harriss Parrish and Frankie Lohr Parrish. He graduated from Allen Jay High School and attended High Point College. Mr. Parrish is a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Terry L. Parrish and Van M. Parrish. Mr. Parrish is survived by his wife Ruby Workman Parrish of the home and two children; Jan Marie Parrish Pugh and husband William H. Pugh, Jr. of Fairfax Station, VA and Darrell Troy “Dee” Parrish, Jr and wife Mena of High Point. Also surviving are five grandchildren; William H. Pugh, III, Lindsay Gray Pugh, Anna Marie Parrish, Katie Shufelt Whitecell and husband Chris, John Shufelt and three great grandchildren; Gracie Whitecell, Lizzie Whitecell and Lily Whitecell. Deletta Smith Briles

Deletta Mae Briles, 69, of Columbus, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Memorial service 6:00 p.m. Sunday September 4, 2016 at East Columbus Christian Church in Columbus, Indiana. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the church, Ron Bridgewater officiating. Burial at Garland Brook Cemetery. Born May 26, 1947, to Elmer A. and Myrtle B. Anderson Smith. She married Duane M. Briles April 7, 1973. Survived by her husband, Duane M. Briles of 43 years; a daughter, Robin L. (Ronnie) Phillips of Columbus; a son, Ray B. (Angie) Phillips III of North Vernon; grandchildren, Rachel (Matt) Ross of North Vernon, Tyler Phillips of Tennessee and Taylor Dobbins of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Graci Ross and Gavin Ross. Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Elmer Wayne Smith; and a sister, Myletta Frazier.

Teresa Kindley Grant Dies

Teresa Diane Kindley Grant, 58 of Davidson County passed away August 31, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington. A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Hughes Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Summey officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM. Born August 13, 1958 to the late John Samuel Kindley and Marie Kathleen Varner Kindley in Davidson County. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith V. Grant, one daughter Crystal Dawn Grant, two sisters, Sarah Green and Barbara Jean Kindley. Surviving is two daughters Cynthia Grant and Melissa Harvell and husband Brad; one sister Kathy Marie Kindley, eight brothers, Johnny Lee Kindley and wife Sandra, Kenneth Ray Kindley, Jerry Samuel “Sam” Kindley, Timothy Lynn Kindley “Fuzzy”, Glenn Thomas Kindley ‘Inky” and wife Crystal, Charles Eugene Kindley “ Charcoal” and wife Loretta, Phillip David Kindley “Mojo”, Brian Kindley “Petie”; two grandchildren Jenna Johnson and Colton Bowman; PawPaw George and MawMaw Carrie Kindley; many beloved nieces and nephews; she also leaves behind many special friends and co-workers at Royal Development; and her special cat “Pearl”. Thurman Lee Floyd

Thurman Lee Floyd, 83, of Asheboro, died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at his home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016 and other times at the home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Sawyersville Wesleyan Church with Rev. Jeff Garner and Rev. Richard Loman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born August 18, 1933 in Randolph County, Mr. Floyd was the son of the late Edgar and Dora Floyd of Trinity. Mr. Floyd was married to Reba Hoover on September 1, 1951. In addition to his parents, Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Lee Floyd; sisters, Lois Manns, Mozelle Rayburn; and a great-grandson, David Spisak. He is survived by his wife, Reba Hoover Floyd of the home; daughters, Judy Albright and husband, Carroll of Asheboro, Sandra Willoughby and husband, Jim of Denton; son, Gerry E. Floyd and wife, Rebecca of Asheboro; sisters, Dianne Pierce and husband, Dempsey, Harriett Pullum, Gladys Brent, all of Trinity, Sue Garner and husband, Grady, Doris Cox and husband, Lavon, all of Asheboro; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
