Beulah Shelton Rush Dies

Beulah Shelton Rush, age 88, passed Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living, Candor. Wake: Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC and other times at her home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at First Wesleyan Church, 1368 NC Hwy 134N, Troy, NC; Pastor Jeff Ray and Rev. William Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born July 26, 1923 the daughter of James William and Valie Marie Inman Shelton. Native of Surry County; preceded in death by her husband; Lester Warren Rush in May 2011. Survived by two daughters: Vada R. Whitaker of Troy, Glenda R. Spaugh of Pfafftown, four sons: Harold D. Rush of West End, Darrell W. Rush of Troy, Farrell Rush of West End and James Allen Rush of Bear Creek, 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and 5 stepgrandchildren.

Hampton Wade "Hamp" Rush Dies

Hampton Wade "Hamp" Rush, 65, of Sophia, NC, passed Friday, July 29, 2011, at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, August 1, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Reeder officiating. Burial will follow at Back Creek Friends Meeting Cemetery in Asheboro. Born April 4, 1946 in Randolph County, the son of the late Hal Stanton Rush and Laura Mae Hunt Rush. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rush was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Rush, Jack Rush and Gene Rush, and his sister, Evelyn McDowell. Survived by his wife, Mildred Rush, of the home; daughter, Sherry Nichols and husband, Roger, of Sophia, NC; sons, Terry Rush, of Sophia, NC, Shaun Rush and wife, Lisa, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Michael Trogdon and Erika Nichols, both of Sophia, NC; half-sister, Doris Dunn, of Asheboro, NC; mother-in-law, Edith Hancock, of the home.

Linda Farabee Beck Passes

Linda Kaye Farabee Beck 65 of Lexington, passed Wednesday July 27, 2011 at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday July 30, 2011 at Becks Lutheran Church; Rev. David L. Martin officiated. Born in Davidson County on October 15, 1945 to James Roswell Farabee and Florence Moore Farabee; preceded in death by her father and mother Florence Farabee Koontz and step-father Carl Clayton Koontz. Surviving are her life long love and companion, Danny H. Garner; and son David Clayton Beck and wife, Kris, of Lexington; grandchildren Taylor Ross Matthew Beck and Carter Andrew Beck; sisters Pamela Koontz Hamilton and husband, Coy, of Lexington and Carla Sue Howard and husband, Bruce, of Salisbury; niece, Brooke Hamilton Harris and husband, James, of Lexington; nephews, Patrick Clayton Hamilton and wife, Sally, of Mocksville and Phillip Clayton Howard of Salisbury; great niece Maci Glee Harris; great nephew Walker Bladen Harris; and special family members, Melissa Thompson and husband, Shannon, Meredith Huffman and husband, Josh, and Mike Hedrick and wife, Carrie, and Matthew Hedrick.

Clarence Harold Loflin, age 81 of Denton, NC died passed, July 19, 2011 at his residence. Funeral service was held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 22 at Siloam United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Sandy Young, Rev. James T. Webb and Rev. Claudie Harrison. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Born December 9, 1929 in Davidson County to Fred H. Loflin and Pearl Snider Loflin. Survived by his wife, Maxine Garner Loflin of the home, a son Dennis Loflin and wife Cheree of Denton; a daughter Vickie Loflin Beaver and husband Donald of Conover; grandchildren, Christie Carroll Garner and husband Kevin and Callan Loflin all of Denton; Great Grandchildren, Hannah Garner and Stephen Garner.

Jerry Lee Welborn Dies

Jerry Lee Welborn, 66, passed Friday morning, July 22, 2011 at the Hospice Home at High Point. Services will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Hilltop Baptist Church at 4:00 PM with Rev. W. A. Seawell, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born on January 22, 1945, in Davidson County, the son of Luther Welborn and Catherine Hayes Welborn. Preceded in death by his wife, Nell Leonard Welborn, who died on May 1, 2011. Survived by his mother, Catherine Hayes Welborn of Thomasville; two daughters, Lori Fox and husband Phil Lones, and Tara Fox Bowers and husband Twig, all of Thomasville; one sister, Shirley Scott of Trinity; one brother, Dennis Welborn and wife Peggy of Denton; a special nephew, Dennis Welborn, Jr. and wife Ronette of Ulah; and a great niece, Nicole Welborn of Thomasville; several nieces and nephews; loving neighbors, Jerry & Geraldine Casper of Thomasville; and two grandsons, Westley Lones & Jordan Smith.

Brenda Lowman Welborn Dies

Brenda Lowman Welborn, 70, of Thomasville passed Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. Funeral service was held today Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 12:00 noon in Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church; Rev. Gary Myers officiating. Burial followed in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Born June 26, 1941 in Salisbury, N.C. to Ernest and Ruth Saunders Lowman. She was married December 25, 1958 to Bobby Ray Welborn. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Lowman and a sister, Delores Grimmett. Surviving are three sons, Jack Welborn, Scotty Welborn and wife Karen and Brian Welborn and wife Kathy, all of Thomasville. Also surviving are grandchildren, Josh Welborn (23), Jacob Welborn (15), Jennifer Welborn (15), Robbie Hyatt (14) and Tyler Welborn (10).

Timothy "Tim" Keith Crotts, 53, passed Saturday, July 9, 2011. A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at his home. Born May 2, 1958, in Davidson County to Larry Odell Crotts and Nancy Leonard Crotts. He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife, Donna Elliott Crotts of the home; his mother of Lexington; sisters Penny Wilson and husband Mark and Jennifer Crotts, all of Lexington; stepchildren Andy Elliott and Amanda Walser and husband Mark; stepgrandchildren Alexis Curry, Skyla Curry and Tate Tomlison; two nephews; and three nieces.

Lucinda Hoover Ball, 87, of Asheboro, NC, passed Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home. Wake: family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, July 18, 2011, at Sawyersville Wesleyan Church with Rev. Jeff Garner, Rev. Darrell Rabon, Dr. Jeremy Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Ball was born October 22, 1923 the daughter of the late Lewis Edgar Hoover and Annie Rogers Hoover. Preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ball and her brothers, Robert Hoover, Oscar Hoover, Sam Hoover, Page Hoover, and Warren Hoover. Survived by daughters, Nancy Hogan and husband, Alvin, of Denton, Judy Trotter Moody and husband, Charles, of Randleman, son, Freddy Ball and wife, Jeanette, of Lexington, grandchildren, Elaine Kiser and husband, Neal, Alvin Hogan, and wife, Candy, Marcell Lomax and husband, Dale, Brent Trotter and wife, Yvonda, Ricky Trotter, Tracey Whitley and husband, Brian, Casey Parrish and husband, Thad, Chante Goins and husband, Jamie, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
