Mr. Clay Yates Passes

ASEHBORO- Clay Edward Yates, 88, passed October 8, 2006 at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro. Funeral will be 2:00 PM.Tuesday, October 10th at Pleasant Union Community Church in Jackson’s Creek with Rev. Gary Phaub officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Yates grew up in Jackson’s Creek, NC and graduated from Farmer High School. He enjoyed sports and played baseball, basketball and loved quail hunting. He was employed by Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mill and later started his own wholesale and retail egg business. He sold his egg business and began raising quail and operating Clay Yates Hunting Preserve. Clay was a faithful member and longtime member of Pleasant Union Community Church. Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ester Briles Yates. Survived by his daughters, Judy and husband Pat Adams of Greensboro, NC.; Jayne and husband Rick Lutz of High Point, NC.; grandchildren, Elaine A. Seales and husband Timmy; Kimberly A. Armstrong and husband Don; John Clay Adams and wife Alyssa; Jennifer Lutz and Andrew Lutz; four great grandchildren.; brothers, Glenn Yates and George Yates both of Jackson’s Creek, NC., Wade Yates of Asheboro, NC. -Pugh
