Pauline Farlow Allred

Pauline Farlow Allred, age 89, of Randleman died Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Carillon Assisted Living of Asheboro. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 2 PM with Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Burial will follow the service at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Born July 16, 1923 in Sophia the daughter of Lawrence E. and Mary Blanche Hill Farlow. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Monroe Allred, sisters, Clarice Farlow McDowell and Clata Hardin, brother, Raeford Farlow. Survived by daughters: Patricia Ann Cagle and husband Clinton of Randleman and Vickie Allred Hinesley and husband Steve of Asheboro; grandchildren: Terry Lee Swaney of Ramseur, Dwayne Edward Swaney, Rhonda Gayle Maynard and Bradley Hinesley all of Asheboro and Brandy Beck of Seagrove; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters: Virgie Coltrane and Earlene Taylor both of Sophia and Wilma Cook of Asheboro. Margaret Hill Norton Dies

Margaret Hill Norton passed Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in the High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 11 A.M. in West End United Methodist Church with Rev. Myra Ward and Rev. Bill Medlin officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Norton will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until the service hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Born November 21, 1925 in Davidson County, N.C., a daughter of Cleveland Cletus Hill and Elizabeth Brinkley Hill. In 1946 she was married to Joe H. Yokeley, who died April 2, 1979. In 1986 she married James G. Norton, who died November 1, 1997. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Rebecca (Becky) Leonard and Joan Hester. Surviving are sons, Steve Yokeley and wife Martha and Chris Yokeley and wife Suzan, both of Thomasville; grandchildren, Scott Yokeley and wife Kelle, Eric Yokeley and wife Jessica, Jonathan Yokeley and wife Heather and Erin Yokeley; six great-grandchildren; Step-daughters, Jean DeLaSerna of Pennsylvania and Carolyn Saylor and husband Cliff of Virginia; step-sons, James Norton and wife Betsy of Tennessee, David Norton and wife Diane of Georgia, and Doug Norton and wife Sally of Charlotte; sixteen step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.

Kenneth McCray Hill

Kenneth McCray Hill, age 88, a lifelong resident of Trinity died Thursday, October 18th at GrayBrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday in Fairview United Methodist Church with the Reverend Nancy Krall and the Reverend Phillip Poole officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Born January 3rd, 1924 a son of the late Lemuel and Mae Hill. On January 20th, 1942 he married the former Marie Louise Stanley who died January 13th, 2005. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister Rosa, two brothers, Paul and Joe and a special son-in-law, Roy Brower.  Surviving are two daughters, Alice Brower of Trinity and Debbie Royals and her husband Dr. Gary Royals of Charlotte; two sisters, Doris and Daisy; one brother, Ned and his wife Sharon; three grandchildren, Tina Fowler, Joshua Royals and Stephanie Royals; four great-grandchildren, Kenny, Brooke, Kaylee and Conner and several nieces and nephews.

Iris Hill Gardner Dies

Iris Hill Gardner, age 82, of Asheboro died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 12:30-1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of Brenda and Doug Marshall. A graveside service will follow on Saturday at 2:00 PM at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 3448 New Hope Church Road, Asheboro with Rev. Benjamin T. Chavis officiating. Born in Randolph County on September 23, 1930 to Jesse and Grace Henderson Hill. She was retired from Mr. Jeans and in addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband Charles Hoyle Gardner and her sister Thelma Trogdon. Survived by her daughters, Gwen Millikan and her husband Mike of Ramseur, NC, Brenda Marshall and her husband Doug of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Vestal and her husband Mike; great grandsons, Andrew Jeremiah Vestal and Cameron Vestal; and special companion, her cat Blueboy. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, October 1, 2012, at High Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Summey, Rev. David Hunt and Junior Summey officiating. Burial will follow at Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. A native of Randolph County, NC, Rev. Swaney was born June 9, 1931 the son of the late Reuben Curtis Swaney and Minnie Corinth Summey Swaney. Survived by his wife, Mary Ferguson Swaney, of the home; son, Clinton Swaney and wife, Kathy, of Denton; daughters, Kathy Hulin and husband, R.C., of Lexington, Lisa Swaney Loflin and husband, Randy, of Denton; sisters, Edith Small and husband, Max, of Asheboro, Ollie Ruth Ferguson, of Liberty; brothers, J.B. Survived by his wife, Oteia Craven Hill, of the home; daughter, Janice Kay Hill-Bonds, of Honduras; son, David "Alex" Hill, of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Mary Catoe, of Asheboro, NC, Lois Jennings, of Asheboro, NC, Becky Williams, of Robbins, NC; brother, Joseph Hill, of Asheboro, NC; grandsons, Josh and Ethan, step grandsons, Nathan and David, step great granddaughter, McKenzie, great grandchildren, Connor and Makenna. Born September 10, 1944 in Randolph County to Walter and Nealie "Nellie" Ann Shirley Jarrell. Survived by his wife of 47 years and the love of his life, Charlene Hill Jarrell; daughter, Angela Hoover and her husband Randal of Asheboro; grandsons, Caleb and Seth Hoover; sisters, Shelby Patrick and her husband Kenneth of Asheboro, Phyllis Greene and her husband Eddie of Asheboro; brother, Kenneth Jarrell and his wife Brenda of Randleman. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville, until the service hour. Born June 28, 1962 in Guilford County, N.C., a son of the late John Edward Hill, Jr. and Barbara Grimes Hill. Surviving are his brothers, John Edward (Eddie) Hill, III and wife Sandra of Concord, N.C. and Steven M. Hill and wife Pamela of Summerfield, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Kelly Hill of Concord, Angela Lynn and husband Dan of Keller, Texas, and Millie Joiner and husband David of Wake Forest; great niece Megan Marie Lynn; great-nephews Brian and Adam Joiner and Ryan Lynn; aunts, Joyce Lucas and husband Ed, Joy Everhart and husband Ford, Lorraine Crotts and husband Bennie and Sue Bowman and husband Woody, all of Lexington; a uncle, Joe Robert Morris and wife Charlene of Lexington. Robert Lee Hill, 70, of Asheboro, NC, passed Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Harrison, Rev. Claude Harrison and Rev. J. T. Byerly officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home. Born May 9, 1942. He was the son of Euvenia Clara Kindley Hill and the late Thomas Gilbert Hill. Preceded in death by his brother, Roy Hill. Surviving is his mother Euvenia Clara Kindley Hill. in addition to his mother, sons, Duane Hill, Dwight Hill and wife, Kim, Robert Hill, wife Hillary, all of Asheboro, daughters, Rebecca Scott, of Germany, Jennifer Banfield, of California; sisters, Amelia Hill, Charlene Jarrell and husband, Donnie, all of Asheboro; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. HIGH POINT-Anne Hill Fries, age 90, passed Saturday, April 21, 2012 at her residence in the arms of her daughter, Debbie. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 28th at 2:00 p.m. in Sechrest Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Micah Ray officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Mrs. Fries will be taken to Harrisonburg, Virginia on Monday for a visitation from 2:00 until 3:00pm in the Kyger-Trobaugh Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted Monday, April 30th at 3:00 p.m. in the Eastlawn Cemetery in Harrisonburg. Born September 27, 1921 in Thomasville to the late Cicero and Mary Lambeth Hill. Preceded in death by her husband Ward M. Fries on November 13, 1998. (m. May 23, 1944); four sisters, five brothers, and her husband on November 13, 1998. Surviving are her daughter; Deborah McDonald and husband Bob of Warrenton, Virginia. She is survived by many loving family members on both the Hill and Fries sides of the family, including her sisters-in-law: Doris Shifflett and Vera Acker. She is also survived by a special “grandson”, Hunter Scott, and wife Laura of Holmen, Wisconsin.

Rafael Francis “Ray” Hill Passes

HIGH POINT-Rafael Francis “Ray” Hill, 76 of High Point passed away Wednesday, February 15th at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday in the Berean Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Baity officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm (one hour prior to the service) at the church. Native of Guilford County, Ray was born August 7th, 1935 and had been a resident of this area most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace Carter Blair and Marqious Merdith Blair(NOTE: father is Andrew Jackson Hill Jr.). Surviving are his wife of twenty nine years, Betty Sue Beck Hill of the home; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Royal and Charlie Carroll of Kernersville and a host of nieces and nephews.

Hazel Hill Crotts, 88, of Trinity, passed Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at High Point Regional. A funeral service will be held 2pm, Friday, February 17th at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting, with Mr. Brian Donley and Mr. Randy Quate officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16th from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home. Born June 29, 1923, in Randolph County a daughter of the late Walter and Martha Crotts Hill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wayne Crotts and a brother, Gilbert Hill. Survived by three daughters, Doris Trotter of Archdale, Nadine Jones and her husband, Larry, and Kay Bartlett and her husband John all of Trinity; four brothers, Jack D. Hill and his wife Tiney of Virginia, Lloyd Hill and his wife Bernice of Lexington, Homer Hill and Leonard Hill both of Trinity; two sisters, Maxine Coltrane of Asheboro and Elizabeth Enyart and her husband, John of ST. Lucie, FL; one sister in law, Euvenia Hill of Asheboro; three granddaughters, Sonja Smith, Lynne Jones, and Sarah Bartlett; and one great granddaughter, Hannah Smith.

John Henry Skeen Dies

John Henry Skeen, 93 of Trinity passed Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Hospice Home at High Point. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Trinity Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Faye Herbin officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale. Born May 5, 1918 in Trinity he is a son of the late Thomas Matthew Skeen and Angie Wall Skeen; preceded in death by his wife Nelva Myers Skeen in 2003. He is survived by four children: Nancy Reed of Thomasville, Hallie Jessup and husband Terry of Jamestown, Stanley Van Skeen and wife Cathy of Swannanoa and Emily Bish of Banner Elk. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Emily Hughes, Loretta Weese, Matthew Skeen, Lucy Skeen, Jennifer Dosher, Cade Jessup and six great grandchildren; Scott Loflin, Angel Weese, Mattison Skeen, Carter John Skeen, Will Dosher and Halle Claire Dosher and many loving nieces and nephews.
