Rita Redding Craven

Rita Cleo Redding Craven, 87, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at GrayBrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Monday, October 22, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home. A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Monday, October 22, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Armstrong and Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Born July 31, 1925 in Randolph County, NC; the daughter of the late Sidney Redding and Ruth Anderson Redding. Survived by her daughters, Shirley Smith, of Phoenix, AZ, Brenda Craven, of Los Angeles, CA, and grandchildren, Sharalee Smith and Thomas Smith. No direct line to Briles

Brent Varney Hill

Brent Varney Hill, 50, a resident of Ellicott City, MD died Monday, August 27, 2012 at his residence. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 11 A.M. in Bethany United Church of Christ; Rev. James W. Whitley officiating. Mr. Hill will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville, until the service hour. Born June 28, 1962 in Guilford County, N.C., a son of the late John Edward Hill, Jr. and Barbara Grimes Hill. Surviving are his brothers, John Edward (Eddie) Hill, III and wife Sandra of Concord, N.C. and Steven M. Hill and wife Pamela of Summerfield, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Kelly Hill of Concord, Angela Lynn and husband Dan of Keller, Texas, and Millie Joiner and husband David of Wake Forest; great niece Megan Marie Lynn; great-nephews Brian and Adam Joiner and Ryan Lynn; aunts, Joyce Lucas and husband Ed, Joy Everhart and husband Ford, Lorraine Crotts and husband Bennie and Sue Bowman and husband Woody, all of Lexington; a uncle, Joe Robert Morris and wife Charlene of Lexington. Ben Howard Davis

Ben Howard Davis, 80, of Asheboro, NC, passed Monday, July 30, 2012, at Randolph Hospital. Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, August 1, 2012, in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Native of Randolph County, NC, born August 3, 1931. He was the son of the late Robert Lester Davis and Elbie Florence Kearns Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wade Davis and sister, Edna Davis. Survived by his wife, Rozine Hurley Davis, of the home; daughters, Denise Beane Williams, of Asheboro, NC, Ginger D. McClellan, of Dale City, VA; grandchildren, Jeremy Beane and wife, Tonya, Melissa Johnson and husband, Keith; great grandchildren, Amber Johnson, Levi Johnson, Bethany Beane, and Lydia Beane. Eunice Leigh Sargent Kearns

Eunice Leigh Kearns, 63, passed Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday July 30,2012 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Born August 23, 1948 in Davidson County to Johnny and Kathleen Edge Sargent; preceded in death by her parents, in addition to sisters Barbara Boles and Katherine Frizzel. Survived by a son, Earnest Kearns and companion Tonya of the home; brother Charles Sargent of Silver Valley, and sister, Martha Ray Tysinger of Lexington. No direct line to Briles.

Lena Ruth Gordon Kearns Dies

Lena Ruth Gordon Kearns, 87, of Asheboro, NC, passed Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Carillon Assisted Living. Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Native of Randolph County, NC, born May 8, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee Gordon and Lillie Mae Hicks Gordon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Kearns. Survived by her daughters, Brenda Kearns Brigman, of Asheboro, NC, Linda Kearns Richardson, of Savannah, GA; son, Lindley Charles Kearns and wife, Brenda, of Asheboro, NC; sister, Evelyn Lambeth, of Thomasville, NC; brother, Carl Gordon, of Thomasville, NC; grandchildren, Lynn Brigman, Eddie Brigman, Mitchell Brigman, Brenda Wall, Veronica Craven, Tonya Reyes, Paul Brigman, Doug Brigman, Dean Cox, Stephanie Witzens, Lura Booth, Sabrina Simmons; step grandchildren, Donna Mason, Tammy Swaney, Terry Richardson, Harold Richardson, Jr., Kevin Richardson; 28 great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Ida Trotter Kearns

Mrs. Ida Trotter Kearns, age 94 of Denton, NC passed Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Hospice House of Randolph County. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 27 at Hoover’s Grove Wesleyan Church conducted by Rev. Roger Riffe and Rev. George Sheppard. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Union Community Church Cemetery. Born April 15, 1917 in Randolph County to Roby Trotter and Nellie Tysinger. Married & preceded in death to Glenn C. Kearns who died May 24, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother George Trotter and a sister Martha Swaney. Survived by sons, James Kearns and wife Belen of High Point, Donald Kearns of Asheboro, and Edwin Kearns and wife Estella of Denton; daughters Glenda (Susie) Morgan of Asheboro and Janice Kearns of Denton; sisters Grace Smith of Denton and Eunice McElreath of Denton; grandchildren, Lynette Graves and husband Chris, Daniel Kearns and wife Cathy, Doug Kearns and wife Barbara, Edwina Ashworth and husband Steven, Starlet Gwynn and husband Timmy, Brian Kearns and wife Karen and Lori Owens and husband Laurin and 10 great grandchildren.
