William Howard Hughes, 67, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital. Wake will be Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m. in J. C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Dan Downing officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. Born on September 25, 1947, in Davidson County, to Howard Pegram Hughes and Lillian Kindley Hughes. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Phillip John Hughes, Larry Gene Hughes, and Bobby Andrew Hughes. On November 26, 1966, he married Carolyn Kinley Hughes who survives of the home. Also surviving is his son, Robbie Hughes and wife Melissa of Thomasville; sisters, Nancy Ann Hughes and Ida Jane Kindley, both of Thomasville; brothers, John Thomas Hughes and wife Donna and Richard Lee Hughes and wife Pat, all of Thomasville, and Jerry Wayne Hughes and wife Nancy of New Hope; and grandsons, Holden Hughes, Halden Hughes, and Hilden Hughes.

Annie Sowers Freeman Passes
Annie Sowers Freeman, 77, of Lexington died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, December 7, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Dr. A. Lee Zehmer and Rev. Randy Hall officiating. A graveside service will be held following the service at the Sandy Creek Cemetery in Tyro. Born August 22, 1935, in Davidson County to Staley B. Sowers and Ultra Snider Sowers. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother, John Sowers, and his wife Betty of Churchland. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Leonard Allen Freeman, Jr.; a daughter, Cynthia Freeman Swicegood and husband, Tim, of Lexington; a son, David Allen Freeman and wife, Jennifer, of Garner; four grandchildren, Amber Elizabeth Swicegood and Troy William Swicegood both of Lexington, Alexandria Lee Freeman and Jonathan Allen Freeman both of Fuquay-Varina; her step-father, Gernie Badgett of Churchland; three sisters, Nancy Wells and husband Bob, Phyllis Sowers, and Neplus Hall and husband Ken, all of Churchland.

Born March 18, 1946 in Davidson Co., NC daughter of the late Charlie Dawes Kindley and Ruby Jewell Yarborough Kindley; preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bonnie Deweese and a brother, Terry Lee Kindley. Kenneth Leonard Phillips, 90, a long-time Lexington resident, passed away on Oct. 18, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice of Davidson County. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, Cotton Grove Road, with the Rev. Brian Rummage and Rev. Bill Sosebee officiating. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. at the church before the service and burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery at 3:30pm. Born in Lexington on Nov. 24, 1921, to Ira Lee Phillips and Minnie Esther Leonard Phillips.Ken married Josephine Farabee Phillips in 1943 and they were married for 49 years before she passed away in April 1992. They had four children – Dianne Phillips Campbell of Lexington, James Kenneth Phillips (Janie) of Clemmons, Michael Ira Phillips (Gail) of Winston-Salem and Joseph Farabee Phillips (Karin) of Charlotte. In addition to his four children, he is survived by nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Survived by a sister Hilda Phillips Smith of Charlotte and a brother B. Willis Phillips (Betty Carole) of Greensboro. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Josephine Farabee Phillips, and his brothers Bain Phillips, Morris Phillips and Blake Phillips. He also lost a sister, Marlene Phillips, who died at age five in 1941. Ken remarried and is survived by his wife Ruth Sharpe Phillips and family, Donna & George Washington Tesh of Arcadia and Barbara and Chuck Adams of Hickory.

Survived by his wife of 47 years and the love of his life, Charlene Hill Jarrell; daughter, Angela Hoover and her husband Randal of Asheboro; grandsons, Caleb and Seth Hoover; sisters, Shelby Patrick and her husband Kenneth of Asheboro, Phyllis Greene and her husband Eddie of Asheboro; brother, Kenneth Jarrell and his wife Brenda of Randleman.

He was the son of Euvenia Clara Kindley Hill and the late Thomas Gilbert Hill. Preceded in death by his brother, Roy Hill. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Doug Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Born on December 18, 1929 in Randolph County to Everette Charles Loflin and Mamie Summey Loflin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ross and Lespie Loflin; and sister, Edna Gordon. In September, 1972, he married Jo Ann Kindley, who survives of the home; also surviving are two step-sons, Todd Daniels and wife Murielle of Trinity and Tedd Daniels of Thomasville; step-daughter, Tamara Daniels of Archdale; sister, Eva Summey of Trinity; two grandchildren, Zane and Paige Daniels; sister-in-law, Virginia Loflin of Thomasville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was married to Faye Varner Pierce who died July 13, 1998 and was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Pierce on June 27, 1998. Survived by a daughter Donna Barringer and husband Ricky of Denton and a daughter-in-law, Amy Pierce of Lexington; brothers Dolan Pierce of Thomasville, and Charles Pierce of Lexington; sisters Jewel Watford and Louise Elberson both of Thomasville, Pauline Gordon and Mary Hughes both of Farmer; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Dr. James Summey officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. Born June 26th, 1931 in Davidson County, a daughter to the late Wilburn and Hattie Lookabill Kinney. In 1950 she married Carlie (Carl) Kindley who preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janice M. McKinnon in 2008 and twelve brothers and sisters. Surviving is a son, Charles L. Kindley and wife Brenda of Thomasville and three grandchildren, Amber Kindley, Aaron Kindley and wife Jessi and Tabitha McKinnon.
