Joan Muriel Lucas-Conner

HARTFORD CITY – Joan Muriel Lucas-Conner, 83, died at 5:44 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from injuries she sustained from an automobile accident in Hartford City.

Funeral service for Joan will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, with the Rev. Bobby Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011, and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Keplinger Funeral Home.

She was born on May 6, 1928, in Upland to Glen Briles and Beatrice (Stevenson) Briles. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Ann Marie "Annie" Lucas and Michelle Rae "Shelly" Lucas, grandson, Lucas Adkins, and brothers, William "Bill' Briles and John Briles.

She married Paul Marion Lucas on July 4, 1946, and he precedes her in death in 1967. She married her second husband, Herschel Conner, on May 24, 1981, and he precedes her in death on October 11, 2001.

Surviving, her daughter, Paula J. Lucas of Hartford City; grandchildren, Heidie Norris, Kori Winger, Melissa Winger-Richards; great-grandchildren, Quentin Smith, Sierra Adkins, Maria Adkins, Matao Adkins, Michelle Norris, Michael Norris, Cameron Cansler and Rilynn Richards; step-children, Betty L. (husband: Frank E.) Brackin and Phillip D. (wife: Ann I.) Conner; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly (husband: Robert) Herring; Rita (husband: Jerry) Morris, and Beth (husband: Ron) Bennett; brother, Steve (wife: Linda) Briles; sister-in-law, Marianne Briles; several nieces and nephews.
