Donald Lester Hughes Passes

THOMASVILLE-Donald Lester Hughes, 79, passed Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Britthaven of Davidson Nursing Home. Funeral services Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2 PM at Southgate Baptist Church; Rev. Chuck Garner and the Rev. Brian Butler officating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Born in Davidson County, January 6, 1930 a son of Clyde Hughes and Sadie Kinley Hughes Surviving are his wife, Betty Harris; son, Ron Hughes and his wife Jane of High Point; four grandchildren, Erin T. Hughes, Miles Giacomo, Kelley Hughes Morgan, and Jeanette Hughes Lylery and her husband Jay; two sisters, Carolyn Hughes of Thomasville and Jewel Dean Kinney and her husband David of Lexington; two brothers, Frankie Hughes and his wife Juanita and Odie Hughes and his wife Linda, both of Thomasville; nine sisters-in-law, Brenda Hughes, Evelyn Darr, Hope Sechriest, Jessie Sellers and her husband Bobby, JoAnn Allred, Mildred Cooper and her husband Bobby, Carolyn Owens, and her husband O’Neal, Helen Briles and her husband Lawrence, and Leslie Harris; two brothers-in-law, Ross Harris and his wife Betty and Arthur Harris. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Evelyn Hughes, Elizabeth Hughes, Shelby Hughes, and Shirley Hughes; a brother, G.B. Hughes; sisters-in-law, Beulah Harris and Jean Harris; brothers in law, John Lee Harris, Bobby Harris, and Paul Harris; two nephews, Michael Harris and Dwight A. Sluder.
