A Radio Icon Passes

Although not the normal procedure for posting death notices, The BIN would like to reflect on the passing of an icon, Paul Harvey who died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the age of 90.

Paul Harvey was the most listened-to broadcaster in America having an audience of over 22 million people. His career began in 1933, which last well over 76 years. I was blessed with the sounds of Paul Harvey back in 1981 when I was radio broadcaster for WRNC in Reidsville, NC. His famous news casts each day and the nail-biting "The Rest of the Story" segments were the trademark of Harvey. Every broadcaster I crossed paths with wanted to emulate Paul Harvey who seemed to captivate his audiences with folksiness and disjointed style of presenting the world events.

Paul Harvey's legacy has already had a profound affect on me as a former broadcaster and the curator of this web site and as a Producer/Director for Video Impressions. The BIN would like to extend condolences to the Harvey Family as we celebrate the life of Paul Harvey during this time of sorrow and say goodbye with his famous closing..."Good Day"
