Marjorie " Margie"  Heughins Briles passed November 15, 2019. Born February 8, 1929 in Winthrop, Massachusetts. A private Graveside service with Family will be held at a later date.

She was preceded in passing by her husband Leon Briles.

She is survived by her three children; Dorothy Huiett Tessler Sam, Glenn Huiett, Jr and Nancy Huiett McKenzie Dale Williams; grandchildren Amy Lietz, Erica Wood, Daniel McKenzie, Jennifer McKenzie Stanek, Ashley McKenzie Zapien, Ron McKenzie and Lisa McKenzie Bitikofer, Glenn Huiett III, Meredith Huiett and several great-grandchildren.

Joel Rai Copple, 66, Dies

Mr. Joel Rai Copple, 66 a resident of Thomasville passed away on November 14, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 23, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the J C Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Born in Guilford County on September 21, 1953 a son to the late Joe Ross Copple and Colleen Gibson Copple. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Betsye Downing Copple of the home; daughters, Christina Nichole Copple and her husband Andrew Crawford of Golden, Colorado and Kathryn Rae Copple and fiancĂ© Matthew McKinley Cox of High Point; sister, Marjy Copple Lambeth and husband Ray Lambeth of Winston Salem; granddaughter, Adelaide Gale Crawford and special grand pup, Luna Copple Cox.

Justin Mark Hinesley, 40, of Ramseur, died Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Loflin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ramseur. 
Native of Randolph County, preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leo Hinesley and maternal grandfather, Jake Briles.

Lloyd Lee Kearns Dies

Lloyd Lee Kearns, age 72, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 1:00-2:30 pm at Bethel Baptist Church, 4836 Robbins Circle Road in Asheboro and other times at his home. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 3:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Jody Harrison officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.Born in Randolph County on September 9, 1947 to Sherman and Susie Robbins Kearns.In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his son, Todd Lee Kearns.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Earnhardt Kearns; son, Anthony Scott Kearns of Asheboro; grandchildren, Sierra Kearns Routh and husband Luke, Stetson Lee Kearns, Tylor Kearns and wife Elizabeth, Kristy Kearns, and Branson Kearns; great granddaughter, Ava Everly; daughter-in-law, Sandra Kearns of Asheboro; sisters, Ruth Whitt and husband Rick of Randleman and Nora Colson of Asheboro; brothers, Randall Kearns and wife Sandy of Asheboro and Jerry Kearns and wife Ann of Asheboro; and sister-in-law, Peggy Kearns of Denton.

Mr. Kearns great grandmother is Elizabeth Briles Robbins.

Janet Gail Hoover Smith, 69, a resident of Gibsonville passed away on Monday October 28, 2019 at the Hospice Home of High Point. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Kevin Barbour and Pastor Mark Hurt. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m,

Born June 4, 1950 in Denton, the daughter of Harlan Clifford and Hazel Hulin Hoover. Preceded in death by her parents and step-daughter, Misty Gayle Smith. She is survived by her husband, Rodney Franklin Smith of the home; her daughter, Robin Smith of Brown Summit; sisters, Barbara Hoover Lambeth of Denton, Vickie Hoover Atkins and husband Tony of Lexington and brothers, Kenneth Hoover and wife Kay of Denton, Reese Hoover of Denton and Phil Hoover and wife Brenna of Trinity.

Bobby Darrell Pierce, 73 of Thomasville passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 at his home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Derald Smith, Rev. Claudie Harrison and Rev. Byron Barker officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary United Church of Christ in Thomasville. The family will greet friends at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM. 

Born January 06, 1946 to the late John Hal Pierce and Nancy Lucille Lanier Pierce in Guilford County. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Pierce; one sister, Jan Nadine; one nephew, Johnny Pierce; one niece, Jamie Lucinda Pierce. Surviving is his loving wife, Martha Sue Black Pierce of the home; two daughters, Vonda Byerly and husband Brent and Kim Pierce; he also leaves behind four grandchildren, Caylin Byerly, Jacob Byerly, Brandon Eason, and Austin Eason; two great-nieces, Brittany Pierce and Pierce Ashley Snowdon; he also leaves behind many beloved cousins.

Joseph Phillip Johnson

Mr. Joseph (Phil) Phillip Johnson, 75, of Lacy Hepler Road passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at his home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville with full military honors. There will be no formal visitation. Mr. Johnson will lie in state at the J.C. Green and Sons funeral home in Thomasville on Friday until the service time. 

Born on September 11, 1944 in Randolph County to the late Joseph Briles Johnson and Elizabeth H. Johnson. Surviving are his loving wife of 25 years, Faye Overton Johnson of the home; two daughters, Melissa Barham and husband Darrell of Thomasville, Gina Compton (Chad Varner) of High Point; his sister, Gayle Murdock of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Zackary Johnson, Collin Cecil, Kade Compton, C.J. Compton; two step children, Tammy Surratt and husband Dennis of Denton, Johnny Bescher and wife Ashley of Asheboro; five step grandchildren, Nathaniel Bescher, Summer Bescher, Colby Avery Bescher, Haden Bescher; extended family and friends.

Leona Laughlin Cox, 93, of Randleman, died Monday, October 7, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, at Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur and other times at the residence. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 11, 2019, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Ramseur, Rev. Jeffery Maness officiating. Burial to follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.
Native of Randolph County, Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie R. Cox, parents, Shelly and Mattie Wright Laughlin, sisters, Ola Johnson, Nelia Craven, Aretta Hill, Beulah Gray, brothers, Grady Laughlin, Worth Laughlin, Leslie Laughlin, George Laughlin, son in law, Cecil Henry Maness.
Survivors: daughter, Betty C. Maness, of Asheboro, son, Ray Cox and wife, Marie, of Randleman, brother, Carl Laughlin and wife, Juanita, of Randleman, eleven grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN; Rev. Aaron Arnold Robbins, age 76, of Randleman died Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 1:30-3:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm at Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church, 3335 Wesleyan Rd., Randleman with Rev. Harold Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born June 17, 1943 the son of Irvin and Alma Bridges Robbins.Aaron was a native of Randolph County. In addition to his parents, Aaron is preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Jester Robbins; children: Martha Robbins, Arnold Robbins and Ginger Robbins; sisters, Annie Newby, Mary Strickland, Irene Browder and Alma Robbins; brothers: Buster, Sonny, Jones Howard and Joseph Robbins.
He is survived by his son: David Robbins and wife Theresa of Randleman; daughters: Charlene Helms and husband Andy of Pleasant Garden, and Sharon Culbreth and husband Jim of Randleman; grandchildren, David, Christopher, Austyn, Brayden, Savannah, Erin, and Peyton; sisters: Treva Browder and Betty Ogle; and his special canine companion, Sheeba.

Rev. Robbins' great great grandmother is Hollen Briles Gregson.
