Velma Bulla McGill Passes Away

ASHEBORO-Velma Bulla McGill, age 85, passed Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 11:00 at Forest Park Baptist Church; Rev. Jon Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park. Native of Asheboro; preceded in death by her husband, Robert Scott McGill. Survived by daughter Martha McCollum and her husband Tim McCollum of Randleman; son, Randy McGill of Asheboro; brothers, Frank Bulla and Don Bulla both of Asheboro; sister, Marie Lewallen of Asheboro; grandchildren, Kasey Crotts and husband Derick of Sophia, Shae McGill of Yadkinville, Jacob McCollum and his wife Ashley of Randleman, John McGill of Florida; great grandchildren, Emery Crotts, Maddie Crotts, Sawyer McCollum, Kayla Ledbetter.

Mary Mildred Hoover Hunt Passes

ASHEBORO-Mary Mildred Hoover Hunt, 87, passed Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at her home. Funeral services 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church; Dr. Dewey Cheek officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born January 14, 1923, Randolph County the daughter of the late William Harris and Millie Yates Hoover. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Paul Hunt. Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Lowrance, Wanda Woolard, both of Asheboro; sons, William Lloyd Hunt, Paul Douglas Hunt, both of Asheboro; brother, Nathan Bill Hoover, of High Point, fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Emmogene Gordon Pearce Passes

TRINITY-Emmogene Gordon Pearce, passed Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Hospice Home at High Point. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 2 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Douglas Stevens and Retired Bishop William Curlin officiating. Burial will be in Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Born March 4, 1918 in Randolph County the daughter of the late Ernest Lee Gordon and Lillie Mae Hicks Gordon. Preceded in death by her husband Hosea W. Pearce on January 29, 2002; a daughter Linda Kaye; four brothers and three sisters. Surviving are three daughters, Joyce Hedrick and husband Bobby; Faye Hill and husband Jerry, both of Thomasville and Carolyn Sabates of Charlotte; four sisters; Lena Kearns of Asheboro, Lois Summey and Evelyn Lambeth both of Thomasville and Jackelyn Davis of Greensboro; one brother, Carl Gordon of Lexington; five grandchildren; Mimi Fitz, Chany Sabates, Keith Hill and wife Kristie, Monica Underwood and husband Edwin and Mario Sabates, ten great-grandchildren; Carly, Victoria, Isabella and Armando, Jr. Fitz, Maggie and Keifer Hill, Chany IV and Pearce Sabates, Madalene and Elizabeth Underwood.

TRINITY-Dorothy Carscaddon Small, 88, passed Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 in Trinity, NC. Funeral services 2:00 PM Monday, January 18, 2010 at High Rock Baptist Church (Randolph County); Rev. Ray Swaney and Rev. Darrell Summey officiating. Interment will follow Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Born April 24, 1921 in Rowan County to William Alonzo Carscaddon and Mary Florence Robbinson Carscaddon. Preceded her in death was her husband Fred Small on August 30, 2004. Survivors include, son; Robert (Buddy) Small and wife (Donna) of Denton, daughter; Linda Vuncannon of Asheboro, brother; William R. "Bill" Carscaddon of Salisbury, sisters; Ruby Kluttz of Salisbury and Ruth McDermott of Milford, OH, grandchildren; (4) Kevin Vuncannon, Crystal Purswell, Jenny Jensen, and Cheryl Key, great grandchildren; (4) Kristen Jensen, Riley Key, Gavin Key, and Ashton Purswell, step great grandchildren; (2) Daniel and Steven Jensen.

TRINITY-Billy Ray Walker, 74, passed Friday, January 15, 2010 at the High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service; Reverend Hoyle Harrison and Reverend Brian Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Born March 12, 1935 in Randolph County, a son of the late William Robert and Eula Rush Walker. Surviving is the former Pauline Hunt (m. December 2, 1960); two daughters, Sharon Trogdon and husband, Rickey and Tammy Hicks and husband, John (Corky), all of Archdale. Four grandchildren, Jennifer and Ashley Hicks and Kaylee and Jason Trogdon; Three brothers, Charles B. Walker and wife, Mozelle and Otis Walker, all of Trinity and Jackie Walker & wife, Priscilla of Archdale. One sister, Ruth Wall and husband, Melton of Randleman.

Funeral Services Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11:00a.m. in the High Point Friends Meeting; Pastor Kelly Kellum and Pastor Billy Britt officiating. Interment will follow in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Born July 15, 1921 in Guilford County, son of Gurney and Bessie Sawyer Pierce. Preceded in death by his wife Frances Jones who preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 2004 (married Dec. 21, 1946). Surviving are 2 sons; Mark Pierce and wife Kathryn of Graham and Clark Pierce and wife Carol of High Point; 2 grandsons; Jason Pierce of Greensboro and Jonathan Pierce of High Point.

TEXAS-Mark Walker Briles, Sr., 80, passed Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Fortress Health and Rehab in College Station. Funeral Services 3 p.m., Saturday, January 9, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan; Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Kansas at a later date. Born on July 19, 1929 in Fredonia, Kansas, to E.C. and Zoe Briles. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Mark Jr. and Renee Briles, of College Station, Texas, Dave Briles, of Joshua, Texas; and grandchildren, Grace, Madison, Dallas, Brenna, Chase, and Aimee.

Vernon Auman Passes Away

HIGH POINT -Vernon L. Auman, 86, passed January 4th, 2010, at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Born August 7th, 1923, in Montgomery County, a son to Wiley Wade and Callie Barnes Auman. Surviving is wife, the former Helen Marie Briles; five children, Leon Auman and wife Ruth of Richmond VA, Melvin Auman and wife Rhonda of Archdale NC, Rita Bodenheimer and husband David of Fairfax Station VA, Tim Auman and wife Terri of Archdale NC and Carl Auman and wife Jennifer of High Point NC; two brothers, June Auman and wife Joyce of Asheboro NC and Wiley Auman and wife Barbara of Jamestown NC; and ten grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Christopher, Kristen, Tracy, Annette, Tom, Jennifer, Brad and Callie.

LEXINGTON-Lula Woodrow "Woody" Cline Crotts, age 94, passed Sunday Dec. 27, 2009 in the Nursing Center. Private Family services will be conducted. Born June 13, 1915 in Sikeston, MO daughter of the late Henry Cline and Belle Leigh Cline. Preceded in death by her husband Charles Wilson Crotts; three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are, One daughter, Debbie Jennings and husband Cary of Winston-Salem; One son, Charles Crotts and wife Jan of Thomasville.
