HILDEBRAN-Jo Ann McAdams Briles, 79 passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. The family will receive friends Monday, December 5, 2016 from 1:00pm to 1:45pm at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 2:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bruce Dayton officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Alex Brittain, Brent Cook, Dwayne Carswell, Bob Gordon, Wesley Helton and Hunter Thompson. Born August 29, 1937 in Alamance County to the late John Alvis and Myrtle Stine McAdams. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Lloyd Briles; her daughter Vicki Ann Briles. She is survived by her daughter Sandi Briles Wagner of Taylorsville; her son Rick Briles and wife Cindy of Catawba; grandchildren Amanda Briles of Phoenix, AZ , Haley Walker and Wesley Helton of Mt. View and Tyler Wagner Charlotte; great grandchildren Alexzandar Green, Lacie Helton and Waylon Helton; niece Terri Hoke and Buster; nephew David Cook and Terri; cousin Donald Owens; two very dear friends Dwayne Carswell and Bobbie Allen; special friend Nancy Keller; a special thank you to caregiver Cindy Schronce and very much thank you to David Lawrence.

Burial will follow in the Meeting Cemetery.Born June 10, 1947 the son of the late Wade Talmadge and Audrey Pierce Rich. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2016, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Anderson Funeral Home, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown. Interment will be in the Apgar Family burial plot, at Riverside Cemetery, in Marshalltown. Born December 29, 1920 to Dessie and Charles Briles on a farm north of Ottawa, Kansas. Survived by her husband, Pat and a son, Tom Apgar both of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by a son, John at age 28, and a sister, Beth.

MADISON -Max J. Briles passed Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, in Madison, Wis., Max succumbed to complications of anorexia. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Parrish was born October 30, 1962, the son of the late Vernon and Esther Parrish. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Boggs; and a son-in-law, Chad Howard.

Darrell Troy Parrish, 86 of High Point died Monday, September 19, 2016 at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday September 23nd at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point. with the Reverend David Umphlett officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Born October 14, 1929 in Randolph County he is a son of the late Troy Harriss Parrish and Frankie Lohr Parrish. He graduated from Allen Jay High School and attended High Point College. Mr. Parrish is a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Terry L. Parrish and Van M. Parrish. Mr. Parrish is survived by his wife Ruby Workman Parrish of the home and two children; Jan Marie Parrish Pugh and husband William H. Pugh, Jr. of Fairfax Station, VA and Darrell Troy “Dee” Parrish, Jr and wife Mena of High Point. Also surviving are five grandchildren; William H. She was born on July 15, 1944 and was the eldest daughter of the late Lewis Edward Wood and Leona Rush Wood. Mrs. McLeod is survived by her husband, Ray Von McLeod, of the home; children, Reneé Brower and husband Rickey of Randleman, Todd McLeod and wife Charlene of Trinity, and Chris McLeod and wife Wendy of Denton; grandchildren, Macie, Madison, Tyler and Dawson. Jay Robert Briles, 62, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Visitation will be 12 PM to 2 PM Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home with cremation to follow according to Jay’s wishes. Coach Art Briles Fired at Baylor, Ken Starr Demoted

Baylor University has fired Coach Art Briles amid several sexual assault investigations involving his football players. Baylor also demoted school President Ken Starr from the Clinton impeachment days. Briles was fired Thursday after a report by Pepper Hamilton, a law firm hired by Baylor last fall, found the school "failed to take appropriate action to respond to reports of sexual assault and dating violence reportedly committed by football players. The choices made by football staff and athletics leadership, in some instances, posed a risk to campus safety and the integrity of the University." Briles coached the Bears to 50-15 during the past five seasons under Briles, 65-37 over all, winning a pair of Big 12 Conference championships. It appears Briles' son, Kendall Briles will remain with the team as offensive coordinator. Coach Briles is the son of the late Dennis Ray & Wanda Nelle McCain Briles.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, Jan. 10 at First United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Tammy Talbert and Rev. Sandy Young. Interment will follow at Tom’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Born August 15, 1959 in Randolph County to Paul Edgar Apple and Colleen Snider Apple. In addition to her parents Diane was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Thomas Apple. Surviving are sons, Chris and Danny Cook of Denton, sister, Paula Apple of Denton, brother, Neil Apple of Seagrove.
