Samuel Tex Hoover

Samuel Tex Hoover of Randleman, age 70, passed away on Monday, September 29th, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

There will be a funeral service for Tex on Saturday, October 4th, at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro, NC at 2:00 p.m. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, October 3rd, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro after the service.

Preceding Tex in death are his wife, Nancy Luck Hoover, his parents, Wade and Ina Hoover, his brother, Tommy Hoover, and his sisters, Bonnie Barfield and Cathy Robbins.

Surviving are his brother, David (Rhonda) Hoover, Asheboro, and Rick (Rebecca Cranford) Hoover, Asheboro, sister, Judy (Greg) Hamilton of Asheboro, his stepdaughters, Sheryl (Tom) Pugh, Randleman, Tonya Cain, Randleman, Rhonda (Ronnie) Allred, Randleman. His grandchildren, Shay Coble (Greensboro), Aaron Cain (Martinsville, VA), Taylor Ingold (Level Cross), Stormy Jones (Level Cross), Joshua (Jeff Costa) Pugh, Jordan (Felicia) Pugh, Sara (Kenneth) Johnson, Amanda Allred. His great grandchildren, Brayden Mason, Remi Johnson, Zeva Pugh, Jasper Pugh, Hollis, Grayson, Brantley, Keegan, Titus, and Asher.

Thomas Nathaniel Adams


Thomas Nathaniel Adams, 85, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Mountain Vista Health Park.

A funeral service for Thomas will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Fairview United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Higgins and Rev. Sandy Young officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:30 until 2:00 PM at Fairview United Methodist Church prior to the service.

Born in Davidson County on November 12, 1939, he was the son of Earlie Adams and Sallie Ann Kearns Adams. Veteran, United States Army. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Haydee Torres Adams, and a sister, Nancy A. Dunn.

He is survived by his sisters, Rebecca Rivero of Winston Salem, Diane Bell (Curtis) of Kernersville, and Rosa Melton (James) of Angier.

Bonnie Louise Hoover Barfield, 80, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at High Point Medical Center, High Point, NC.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at God Outreach Ministries Cemetery.

Bonnie Barfield was born in Randolph Co., NC, on August 3, 1944, the daughter of the late Wade Hoover and Ina Routh Hoover.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Barfield, Sr.; brother, Tommy Hoover and sister, Cathy Robbins.

Surviving are her daugther, Teresa Tate (Ezio Filippini); son, Michael Brady of Asheboro; stepdaugther, Bonnie Mae Barfield; stepsons, Johnny Ray Barfield, Jr., Matthew Barfield (Michelle); sister, Judy Hamilton (Greg) of Asheboro; brothers, Tex Hoover (Nancy) of Randleman, Rick Hoover (Becky Cranford) of Asheboro, David Hoover (Rhonda) of Asheboro; grandchild, Ashley Davis; great grandchildren, Abbie Davis, Maddie Davis, Payton Davis, Jack Davis, Isaiah Davis; and great-great grandchild, Asher Creel.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Kinley Saunders, 80, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro, NC.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 18, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. James P. Upton III officiating. Burial will follow at Back Creek Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Saunders was born in Davidson Co., NC, on October 14, 1944, the daughter of the late David Kinley and Treva Kinley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Saunders was preceded in death by her siblings, Magdaline McDowell, Dorothy "Dot" Sluder, Emma Jane Hunt, and Homer Kinley.

Mrs. Saunders is survived by her husband Lonnie Saunders of the home; daughters, Annessa Davidson (Tommy) of Randleman, Regenia Ligon (Hayley) of Thomasville, Wanda Ligon Booth (Kenny) of Archdale; sons, Waylon Saunders (Sarah) of Asheboro; brother, Benny Kinley (Lou) of Lexington; grandchildren, Anna Fountain (Jared), Luke Davidson, Jonathon Booth, Kaleb Booth, Brandon Rillo (Cassie), Josh Rillo (fiancée Meredith); great grandchildren, Brooks Fountain, Briggs Fountain, Naomi Rillo, and Olivia Rillo.

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Kay Kindley Lilly


Mrs. Elizabeth (Lizzy) Kay Kindley Lilly, 61, of Thomasville, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Hospice Home at High Point. 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Mitchel Hayworth officiating.  Interment will follow in the Zion Church Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. 

She was born on November 1, 1962 in Davidson County, Denton, NC to Albert Clemon Kindley, Sr. and Dorothy Alline Miller Kindley.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Jennifer Midkiff; her brothers, Albert (AC) Kindley, Jr. and Darryl Kindley; and her step-son, Dakota Van Lilly.

On September 6, 2008, she married Rodney Van Lilly, who survives of the home; also surviving is her daughter, Ashley Midkiff (Johnny Todd); her sisters, Brenda Blanchard (Tommy), Barbara Riffe (Marcus), Sylvia York (Darrell), Irene Land, and Donna Tansey (Gerry); her brother, James Kindley; 6 grandchildren, Joe, Eve, Tyler, Destiny, Xavier, and Dakota; 1 great-grandson, Desmond; sisters-in-law, Linda Kindley and Tammy Snow; father-in-law, Van Lilly, Jr. (Linda); brother-in-law, Terry Lilly (Lori) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gurney Allen Davis


TRINITY- Gurney Allen Davis, 82, passed on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

A service to celebrate Gurney’s life will be held on Saturday, July 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Church with Reverend Dr. Caroline Franks officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard. His family will be at the residence.

He was born on May 5, 1941 in High Point, the son of the late Stanley and Esther Kearns Davis. US Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years; Nancy Cook Davis; his children, Julie Davis Smith and her husband, Allen and Joshua Davis and his girlfriend, Jessica Thompson; his grandchildren, Hailey Rae Smith and her husband Kade, Cody Davis and Reece Thompson.

Betty Ruth Kearns Wilson

 

ARCHDALE – Betty Ruth Kearns Wilson, 91, died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Randolph Hospice Home.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Pastor Kenneth Reaves officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the funeral home.

She was born June 27, 1931, in Guilford County and was the daughter of the late Emory and Blanch Folwell Kearns. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Betty is survived by her husband, James Arnold Wilson, whom she married on March 22, 1968; son, Philip “Phil” C. Wilson (Angie) of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Andrew Craig Wilson and Hannah Rose Wilson; brother-in-law, Darrell Wilson of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

Grace Harris Koontz

Grace Harris Koontz, 73, of Thomasville, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC.
 
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at The Well Church, 906 Oaklawn Drive, Thomasville, NC 27360, with Rev. Huey Turner officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

Born March 8, 1949 in Davidson County to the late Marvin Harris and Venie Kinley Harris. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by a daughter Tonya Marie Koontz; two brothers, Oscar Harris and Gurney Harris.

Surviving is a son, Steve Koontz of Thomasville; two sisters, Margaret Simmons of Mocksville, Roella Jones of Lexington; a grandson, Ethan Koontz; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Margaret Louise Hill Trotter, 92, of Asheboro, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 at TerraBella in Asheboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Crestview Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Gary Mason and Pastor Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Margaret was born on September 9, 1929 in Randolph County to the late Virgil Hill and Corrinna Kearns Hill. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Trotter; son, Jimmy Ervin Trotter; daughter, Patricia Ann Trotter; sisters, Alberta Poole, Edith Sears, Maxine Pugh; brothers, Ritsel Hill, Henry Lee Hill; and granddaughter, Missy Wilson.

She is survived by her sisters, Anna Mae Robbins, Betty Sarah Greene, Ava Routh, Faye Carol Phillips, Alene Jarvis; brother, Oscar Hill; several step-siblings; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Larry Quinton Kindley, 73, of Asheboro, passed away, Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Randolph Heath in Asheboro.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Victory Church in Asheboro.

A native of Randolph County, Larry was born November 21, 1948, to the late Quinton Kindley and Monnie Spencer Kindley Caviness. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Kindley Brady.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home; son, Quinton Kindley (Jessica) of Asheville; daughters, Lynnette Kindley (Robert) of Asheboro, Kimberly Wolffis (Chuck) of Asheboro, Traci Andrews (Scott) of Asheboro; and grandchildren, Justin, Jasmine, Blake, Hannah and Laurel.

Betty Jane Spencer Carter Dies

Mrs. Betty Jane Spencer Carter, 74, resident of Trinity, died May 25, 2022 at her home.

Betty was born April 4, 1948 in Guilford County, a daughter to Grayson L. and Arlene Brookshire Spencer. In 1996 she married Von Carter who survives of the residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

Also surviving are two sons, Chuck Byrum and Michael Byrum both of Trinity; three step sons, Randy Carter (Destiny) of Liberty, Rodney Carter, and Jesse Carter (Sarah) of Trinity; a half-sister, Alice Lee; two grandsons, Joe and Jeffrey; and her former daughter-in-law, Joann Byrum of Greensboro.

Ernest Grover Kinley, 79, of Thomasville passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. 

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Parr officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home.

Ernest was born November 27, 1942 in Randolph County to the late Lonnie Kinley and Lucille Hogan Kinley. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Johnson; one brother, Gary Thomas Kinley; and one grandson, Austin Grant.

 Surviving is his loving wife, Sylvia Marie Persiani Kinley of the home; two daughters, Sharon Kinley Alford and husband Gary, Teresa Grant and husband Danny; one son, Danny Kinley and wife Kim; two sisters, Linda “Susie” Beck and husband Charles, Patsy Cagle and husband Gerald; eight grandchildren, Hailey Grant (Cole), Haley Hinkle and fiancĂ© Jacob, Jalen Woodrow, Levi Kinley (Payton), Collin Grant, Samantha Alford, BJ Alford, Austin Workman; one great-grandson, Brandon Alford; he also leaves behind his fur baby, “Sweet Pea”.

Catherine Ann "Cathy" Hoover Robbins, 75, of Asheboro, died Monday, November 29, 2021 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021, at West Bend United Methodist Church Cemetery, Asheboro, with Pastor Charles Moses officiating.

Born March 18, 1946, in Randolph Co., NC, Mrs. Robbins was the daughter of the late Wade and Ina Routh Hoover. 

Mrs. Robbins was also preceded in death by her brother Tommy Hoover.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Dennis Robbins; daughter, Catherine A. Robbins; sons, Kerry Harris, Rodney Harris; sister, Judy Hamilton, Bonnie Barfield; brothers, Tex Hoover, Ricky Hoover, David Hoover; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

James Franklin Kinley Dies

Mr. James Franklin Kinley, 69, of Lexington passed Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 7 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons chapel in Thomasville. The family will greet friends in the chapel one hour prior to the funeral.

James was born on January 15, 1952 to the late Wade Dennis Kinley and Dorothy Glascoe Kinley in Guilford County.  In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Farmer Kinley in 2014; two siblings, John Kinley, Louise Elberson; a son-in-law, Troy Wilson.

Surviving is his daughter, Desa Lee Wilson of Lexington; three siblings, Judy Thompson (William), Billy Allen Kinley (Randy), Larry Wayne Kinley; three grandchildren, Jeffery Kinley, Misty Kaye Kinley, Aahlyaa Kinley; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kayelee; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mrs. Nancy Adams Dunn, age 80, of Mountain Vista Health Park, Denton and formerly of Asheboro passed away on September 29, 2021 at Mountain Vista Health Park.

A graveside service will be held at 4:30 PM Sunday, October 3 at Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Troy. The family will see friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday, October 3 at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.

Mrs. Dunn was born November 15, 1940 in Davidson County to Earlie Adams and Sallie Ann Kearns Adams. She was married to Ronald Alvin Dunn, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Haydee Adams.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald Dunn and wife Carolyn of Calhoun, Ga and Ricky Dunn and wife Tina of Sophia; Grandchildren, Hannah Dunn, Noah Dunn, Jeffrey Dunn and Ronnie Dunn; great grandchildren Caitlin, Harrison, Julian and Maddox; brother, Thomas Adams of Denton; sisters Rebecca Rivero of Walkertown, Diane Bell and husband Curtis of Kernersville and Rosa Melton and husband James of Angier. She is also suvrived by several nieces and nephews.

Arthur Lee Beck, III, 70, Dies

Mr. Arthur Lee Beck, III, 70, passed Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington. He was born on November 17, 1950 in Thomasville to Arthur L. Beck, Jr. and Willie Pearl Kindley Beck, who preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the JC Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Rodney Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cecelia Myrick Beck; and two sons, “Art” Beck, IV and wife Kasey Spivey Beck, and Rodney Adam Beck and wife Allyson Sprinkle Beck. Also surviving are five grandsons, Art “Will” Beck, V, Sam Beck, Cooper Beck, Charlie Beck, and Tucker Beck; two brothers, Larry Wayne Beck, Sr. and wife Kathy Jones Beck, and Steven Dale Beck and wife Kathy Payne Beck.

Mrs. Lillian Louise (Lou) Kinley Elberson, 65, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 at her home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Jamie Draughn officiating.  Interment will follow in Hughes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. 

She was born on August 10, 1955 in Guilford County, High Point, NC to Wade Dennis (Junie) Kinley and Dorothy Glascoe Kinley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 brother.

On November 6, 1973, she married Randy Wayne Elberson, who survives of the home; also surviving are her son, Scotty Elberson and wife Kristen of Denton; daughter, Jennifer Peninger and husband Chad of Lexington; cherished grandmother of, Lorelei Elberson, Laken Elberson, and Temperance Bowers; 1 sister; and 3 brothers.

Barbara Jean "B.J." Kindley Brady, 77, of Asheboro, passed away, Thursday, May 6, 2021 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Cannon officiating. Entombment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021, prior to the service.

Mrs. Brady was born on April 27, 1944 in Davidson County, NC, to the late Quinten Kindley and Monnie Spencer Kindley Caviness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Franklin Brady, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, April McCormick and husband Mark; brother, Larry Kindley and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Abigail Snow and husband Will, and Rebecka McCormick; great grandchildren, Lillian Payne, Brookelynn Payne, and Weslee Snow. Also surviving are her stepsons, Scott Brady, Jeffery Brady, Eric Brady and their families; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

James Lee Kinley Dies

Mr. James Lee Kinley, 69, of Charles Mountain Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Kinley will lie in state at Briggs Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, April15 at New Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Lorton officiating.

Born in Randolph County on August 21, 1951 to Joseph R. Kinley and Iva Summey Kinley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by grandchildren, Faith, Savannah, and Jessica Arnette; brothers, Stephen, Harold, and Don Kinley; sister, Ruth Ann Kinney.

He is survived by his wife, Neta Yow Kinley of the home; son; Douglas Kinley of Denton; daughters, Teena Royal and husband Michael of Denton and Jamie Arnette of Winston Salem; brothers, Larry and Winfred Kinley; sisters, Helen Shelley and Rebecca Lanier; 4 grandchildren, Michael James Royal, Victoria Brackett (Kevin), Joseph Dustin Arnette, and Dalton Lee Arnette; 2 great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Kynden Brackett.

Leona Ruth Loflin Ingram, 84, of Denton, died Thursday, March 11, 2021 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Mrs. Ingram will lie in repose from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Randolph Memorial Park, with Dr. Brent Tysinger officiating.

Leona was born on February 28, 1937, in Randolph Co., to the late Henry Clay Loflin and Edith Hoover Loflin. 

In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelia Denette Creed.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Ingram; daughter, Cynthia Hunt (Kevin); sons, Allen Creed (Renee) Andy Creed (Tammy); sister, Gerline Sawyer; grandchildren, Ashlee Martin, Jaxon Snider, John Allen Creed, Ashton Creed; great grandchildren, Zander, Paige; step grandchild, Chase Hunt.
