Velna Beck Swing Dies

Velna Beck Swing, 97, passed Friday morning, Nov. 5, 2010, at Alston Brook. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Mike Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Born in Davidson County on July 27, 1913, to Walter J. Beck and Alice Shirley Beck. Preceded in death by her parents; husband Howard L. Swing; seven sisters, Savannah Younts, Eunice Wright, Nina Sledge, Elsie Everhart, Florence Beck, Ora Beck and Catherine Leonard; and two brothers, Oscar Beck and Howard Beck. Surviving are one son, Richard Swing and wife Martha of Lexington, and two nieces.
