Christina Louise Briles

 

Christina Louise Briles passed away on November 8, 2025, in Ventura, California.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2026.

Born Christina Louise Schwarz on August 16, 1944, in Los Angeles, California the daughter of Rev. Homer Schwarz AND Barbara W. Schwarz.

Christina was married to Charles Briles. and they had two sons, Jason and Michael.

Christina was preceded in death by her husband Viq Mccaslin.

She is survived by her brother Skip and his wife Joyce; sister Lynette and her husband Pete; daughter Jill and her husband Jon; son Jason and his wife Malaika, son Michael; grandchildren Kayla and her husband Ryan, Kirsten and her husband Jake, Maxwell and his wife Rainn, Alexandra, Jacoby, Ashlynn, Serenity, and Sebastian; as well as great-grandchildren Cade, Rhett, Remi, and Lucy-Lila, and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry Dean Briles

Jerry Dean Briles, age 77, passed away on October 28, 2025.

A visitation at the Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, Iowa, will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1-4 PM with family present. No funeral will be held per his request, but a private family burial will be held in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Born on October 23, 1948, to the late Herschel “Pete” and Wilma (Telfer) Briles. 

He married Sharon Kay Bell on August 31, 1968. They have 2 sons, Brian Dean (the late Stacey) and Kurt Alan (Alicia), and four grandchildren, Joslin, Brooke, Brody, and Kinsley Briles.

Surviving include his loving wife of 57 years, Sharon, his two sons and daughter-in-law, his four grandchildren, his two brothers Jim (Judy) and Randy (Polly).

Byron Chester Farlow

Byron Chester Farlow passed Wednesday morning, October 29, 2025.

 
Visitation and service will be Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 1:15pm at Marlboro Friends Meeting in Sophia, NC.

 
Born March 2, 1932, the son of Frank M. Farlow and Nora Stout Farlow.

 
Byron was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Davis Farlow (m. January 17, 1953), his parents, brothers Maurice and Bryce Farlow and sisters Hazel Braun and Geraldine Haithcock.

 
He is survived by his daughters Denise Jones and Debbie Surratt, son-in-law Scott Surratt, “daughter” Alicia Yee Perez, grandchildren Lindsey Sommers (Chris), Tyler Surratt, Tara Gainey (Addison), Ben Jones (Lisa), Blair Bresson (Joey), and four awesome great grandchildren, Charlotte and Eliza Gainey, Arlo Jones and Henry Byron Bresson.

 
He is also survived by his brother Michael Farlow, nieces and nephews.

Keith Miller

Keith Miller, passed away on October 21st, 2025 at the age of 80.

A private family graveside service will be held Sunday, October 26th at 2:00pm at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home at Thomasville from 12:00pm - 1:30pm.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Dora Peace Miller; his father, William Walker Miller; and his sister, Beverly Miller Kirby of Gastonia, NC. US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Keith is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Linda Hedrick Miller; his beloved children, Lisa Miller Sexton and her husband Jeff Sexton, along with their daughter Emilie Sexton; Alanna Miller Thornbury and her husband Neil Thornbury, and their children Reece Thornbury and Walker Thornbury; and Jessica Miller Clem and her husband Eric Clem, and their children Blake Clem, and twins, Josie and Elle Clem. He also leaves behind cherished nieces, Melanie Splawn and her husband Scott of Gastonia, and Windy Gibson and her husband David of Cherryville.

Clifford Briles

Clifford O. Briles, 85, passed away on October 7, 2025. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Born May 26, 1940 to the late Charles Briles and the late Marguerite (nee Hansen); Clifford was a Navy veteran. 

Preceded in death by his brother Charles (Nancy) and the late Carol Briles McHale.

Surviving, his children: Erin (Chris), Cara (Jeff) and the late Douglas (AImee);  grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Kirsten, Rachel, Claire and Tyler; great grandfather of Benjamin; many nieces and nephews.

Betty Kinley Shackelford, 79, of Asheboro passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Funeral Services, 1:30 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church in Ramseur with Rev. Chris Smith officiating. Visitation, 6 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, Loflin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ramseur.

Burial, Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.

Native of Randolph County, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Shackelford, her son, Shanon Dale Shackelford, her parents, Lester and Roxie Wall Kinley, and her brother, William Eugene Kinley.

Survivors: son, Brian Lane Shackelford and wife Kim, of Asheboro, sister, Sharon Jane Jones, of High Point, brother, Wayne Kinley and wife Samantha, of High Point, grandchildren, Zachary Clark and wife Caroline, Payton Beeson and husband Christian, Ashley Garbarz and husband Michael, Parker Shackelford, Hunter Shackelford, great-grandchild, Wylder Beeson.

Cathy Sharon Brower Schober-Briles

Cathy Sharon Brower Schober-Briles, 73, of Trinity, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at her home.

A private graveside service will be held at New Hope Memorial Gardens.

Born on September 9, 1952, in Annapolis, Maryland. Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Franklin Brower; and daughter, Jennifer Leigh Schober.

She is survived by her husband, Don Briles of the home; mother, Dorothy Floyd Brower; brothers, Baxter Brower and wife Deborah, Foster Brower and wife Debbie; son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Chris and Emily Hancock, grandchildren, Jordan Pruitt and fiancé Chris Tyson, Gabriel Hancock; and great grandchild, Jacob Tyson.

Samuel Tex Hoover

Samuel Tex Hoover of Randleman, age 70, passed away on Monday, September 29th, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

There will be a funeral service for Tex on Saturday, October 4th, at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro, NC at 2:00 p.m. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, October 3rd, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro after the service.

Preceding Tex in death are his wife, Nancy Luck Hoover, his parents, Wade and Ina Hoover, his brother, Tommy Hoover, and his sisters, Bonnie Barfield and Cathy Robbins.

Surviving are his brother, David (Rhonda) Hoover, Asheboro, and Rick (Rebecca Cranford) Hoover, Asheboro, sister, Judy (Greg) Hamilton of Asheboro, his stepdaughters, Sheryl (Tom) Pugh, Randleman, Tonya Cain, Randleman, Rhonda (Ronnie) Allred, Randleman. His grandchildren, Shay Coble (Greensboro), Aaron Cain (Martinsville, VA), Taylor Ingold (Level Cross), Stormy Jones (Level Cross), Joshua (Jeff Costa) Pugh, Jordan (Felicia) Pugh, Sara (Kenneth) Johnson, Amanda Allred. His great grandchildren, Brayden Mason, Remi Johnson, Zeva Pugh, Jasper Pugh, Hollis, Grayson, Brantley, Keegan, Titus, and Asher.

Reva Snider Young

Reva Snider Young, 95, of Davidson County, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Hinkle Hospice House.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, Sunday night, September 28, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

A funeral will be held the following day, September 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Hedrick’s Grove UCC, officiated by Rev. William Sowers and Rev. Alex Nance, with burial concluding the services in the church cemetery.

Reva was born on April 13, 1930, in Davidson County, to the late David Harris Snider and Algene Velera Snider. 

Preceded in death by her husband, Ray Von Young; son, Gene Ray Young; daughter, Vonetta Floyd; brother, David Allen Snider; and sister, Joyce Young.

Surviving are daughter, Regina Humphrey (Tony Tysinger), of Lexington; sister, Teresa Smith Franks (Terry), of Trinity; six grandchildren, Marty Floyd (Audrey), Shane Floyd (Michelle), Ashley Young, Kevin Young (Kallie), Cassie Miller (Chris), Chad Coppley (Angela); fourteen great grandchildren, Zachary and Dillon Floyd, Jessica and Austin Floyd, Hayden and Kylee Coppley, Tyler, Chase, Riley Miller, and Kayla, Gene, Ciara Young, and Kenslie and Kaden Young; great great grandchild, Asher Miller; and special roommate, Linda Dillard.

Mrs. Young's great, grandmother is Elizabeth Rebecca Briles Robbins.

Kathy Dianne Kinley Patty

Kathy Patty, age 71, of Archdale, North Carolina, passed away at home on September 21, 2025.

A memorial service celebrating Kathy’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, NC.

Kathy was born on July 10, 1954, in High Point, NC, to the late Lossie Belle Brann Kinley and George Bulla Kinley. She was also preceded in death by her beloved maternal grandfather, Robert Nickey Brann; her brother, Nickey Cicero Kinley; husband, Darrell Patty. In 1972, she married Johnny Wayne Floyd, Sr.

Kathy is survived by her three children, Angela Marie Watts, Johnny Wayne Floyd Jr., and Paul Harrison Floyd. Grandchildren; Jacob, Jackson, Brittany, Colton, Ryan, Haleigh, and Haven, and was blessed with six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her devoted siblings: Martha Bernice Gray (Larry), Judy Gayle Canter (Melvin), George Terry Kinley (Bessie), Barbara Ann Atkins (Kenneth), Dee Lois Holt, Lisa Karen Roberts (Danny), Velvet Loretta Walker (Tommy), Glenn Adams Kinley (Carolyn), and Kimberly Dawn Bryan (Randy).
