Jewell Nance Ridgeway

ARCHDALE-Jewell Ridgeway, age 89, of Archdale passed away Saturday May 19, 2012. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday at Floral Gardens Cemetery in High Point. Preceded in death by her husband Delmar Ridgeway; brothers, Glenn Nance and Reitzel Nance and sister, Veva Lewallen. Survivors include her son Ray Ridgeway (Billie) of Eden; brother, Max Nance of High Point; sister-in-laws, Peggy Nance of High Point and Joyce Nanceof High point and several nieces and nephews. Bill Ray Kinley Dies

Bill R. Kinley passed away May 17th, 2012 at the Graybrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 21st, at Archdale Friends Meeting, 114 Trindale Rd. Archdale with Pastor Dave Mercadante and Pastor Scott Wagoner officiating. Born in Guilford County, a son of the late Grady J. and Nannie Kinley on October 20th, 1932. Surviving is his wife Barbara Byrum whom he married on November 24th, 1955.Also survived by a son, Ronnie Kinley of Clayton, two daughters, Tanya Lambeth and her husband Keith of Trinity and Gayle Lambeth and her husband Steve of Trinity; five grandchildren, Rachel Lambeth, Corey Lambeth, Adrian Lambeth, Lauren Kinley Mohajer and Kate Lambeth; one great grandchild, Camden Kinley; one sister, Sara Leonard and her husband Harold of Thomasville; two nieces and one nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Kinley. 

Bill's Grandmother is Queen Briles Kinley and also a direct line to another Briles via Shadrach & Margaret Briles Kinley.

Hearth Esmond Kennedy

Hearth Esmond Kennedy, 72, resident of Trinity, passed May 15th, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 Friday at New Grace Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC with Rev. Michael Mabe, Rev. Bobby Robertson and Rev. Greg Lentz officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Born February 10th, 1940 in Randolph County, a son to the late C.H. (Duck) and Kate Burge Kennedy. In 1965 he married the former Jacqueline (Jacky) Setzer who survives of the residence. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Samuel “Peety” Kennedy in 1994 and a brother, Harold Wayne Kennedy in 1991. Also surviving are two sons, David Scott Kennedy and wife Carey of Colfax and M. Brett Kennedy of Trinity; and two grandchildren, Jason Scott Kennedy and Claudia Rose Kennedy.

Mozelle Kearns Rafferty Dies

Mozelle Kearns Rafferty, age 90, died on May 16, 2012, at the Oaks at Mayview Convalescent Center in Raleigh. Family will receive friends Saturday, May 19, 2012, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, in Asheboro. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM and burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. Preceded in by her husband Bill Rafferty. Survived by three children: Patricia R. Collins (Chuck), Jacksonville; Michael E. Rafferty (Beth), Midlothian, VA; and Kathy R. McGehee, Raleigh; four grandchildren: Page Collins, Newport Beach, CA; Katharine C. Friedrick, Raleigh; Blake R. McGehee, Raleigh; and W. Michael Rafferty, Arlington, VA; one great grandchild: Isabella R. Friedrick, Raleigh; and two sisters: Jewell K. Coffey, Kannapolis; and Doris K. Frost, Louisville, KY.

Kathleen Robbins McCarn, 88,passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 17, 2012 in the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Born July 14, 1923 in Thomasville, NC a daughter of the late Jacob R. Robbins and Mae Haines Robbins; preceded in death by her husband Grover Franklin McCarn who died February 18, 1986. Surviving is her son Gary F. McCarn and his wife Donna of Thomasville; her daughter Patricia Harris of High Point; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Annie Cornelia Robbins Newby, age 88, of Sophia passed Monday, May 14, 2012 at her home. Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman, NC and other times at the home. The funeral will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 4:00 pm at Sophia Baptist Church in Sophia with Rev. Bill Barnes and  Ashton Loyd officiating. Burial will follow at Old Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sophia. Preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Alma Bridges Robbins. Survived by her husband: Garland Newby of the home; children: Jerry Newby of Sophia, Louise N. Brim and her husband R.J of Sophia, Paul Newby and his wife Ramona of Sophia, Bonnie N. Laughlin of Asheboro, and Peggy N. Hinshaw and her husband Gary of Randleman; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters: Treva Browder of Winston- Salem and Betty Ogle and her husband Bruce of Randleman; brother: Aaron Robbins and his wife Claudia of Randleman.

Zada Edna Beck Conrad Dies

Zada Edna Beck Conrad, 98, passed Monday, May 14, 2012, at Lexington Health Care.Funeral will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Holly Grove Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Mocko officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service. Born August 22, 1913, in Davidson County, to James Edward Beck and Jennie Florence Sechrest Beck. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Justice Brown “JB” Conrad, who died November 12, 1969. Also preceding her in death are her brothers, Liston Calvin Beck and Leo McCoy Beck; and sister, Eulala Beck Byerly. Surviving are sons, Larry Conrad and wife, Judy, and the Rev. C.R. “Butch” Conrad and wife, Elizabeth, all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Larry B. Conrad Jr. and partner, David Smith, DeeDee Conrad Shook and husband, Steve, Timothy James Conrad, Christopher Ray Conrad and wife, Sheena, and Jennifer Elizabeth Conrad; five great-grandchildren, Stephen Walser Jr. and wife, Katie, Matthew Walser, Sarah Shook, Brooklin Trantham, and Ian Conrad; and four great-great-grandchildren, Noah Walser, Katelynn Walser, Jacob Walser and Savannah Walser.

Emma Kinley Hunt, age 70, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 in High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM in J. C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville, NC. The interment will be at The House of Hope Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Born Dec 19, 1941 in Davidson Co. NC daughter of the late David Lee Kindley and Treva Hughes Kindley; preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin Wayne Garner and one brother, Homer Kinley She was married Sept 11, 1960 to Harvey Lee Hunt who survives of the home. Also surviving are, one daughter, Susan Jane Garner and husband Kirby of Thomasville; one son, Harvey Milton Hunt, Sr. and wife Sammie of Thomasville; three sisters, Magdaline McDowell and Dot Sluder and husband Autry all of Thomasville and Shirley Saunders and husband Lonnie of Asheboro; one brother, Benny Kinley and wife Lou of Lexington; two grandchildren, Derrick Garner of Thomasville and Harvey Milton Hunt, Jr. and wife Amy of Thomasville; two great grandsons, Wilson Lee Hunt and Devin Garner.

Anne Cecil Hepler passed at Forsyth Medical Center on Sunday, May 13, 2012. A simple service to celebrate and remember her life will be held at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 5 P.M. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.Born March 12, 1944 in High Point, a daughter of the late Hammett Andrew Cecil, Jr. and Theda Pleming Cecil; preceded in death by an infant sister on March 11, 1950. Survived by her husband Randy H. Hepler and her daughter Christy Thomas and her husband Kevin and her two grandchildren, Austin and Jordan Thomas; a sister-in-law, Lou Hepler and her son Bart Hepler.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home. Born June 2, 1948 in Davidson County to David Jasper Underwood and Ruth Alice Welborn Underwood. Her brother, Marvin Ray Underwood, and sister, Shelvia Randall, preceded her in death. Survived by her husband of 32 years, Dennis Butts of the home, her daughter, Becky Walser and husband, the Rev. Jeff Walser, of Lexington; her sons, Jesse Howard and wife, Diane, of Lexington, and Keith Allen and wife, Julie, of Rural Hall; her brother David Jasper Underwood, Jr. of High Point; her sister, Carleen Branson and husband, John, of Lexington; and her grandchildren, Zachary Ryan Howard, Dustin Craig Walser, Ashley Elizabeth Walser, Trent Wayne Allen, and Wesley Hunter Allen.
