Irvin Clarence Brown

Irvin Clarence Brown, 94, of Asheboro, died Friday, April 1, 2022, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Mr. Brown will lie in repose from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro. The family will recieve friends on Wednesday following the graveside service. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Randleman, with Rev. Mark Hall officiating.

Born in Cedar Falls, NC on March 29, 1928, Irvin was the son of the late Colvin Clarence Brown and Ethel Caroline Laughlin Brown. 

In additon to his parents, Irvin was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Martha Ellen Glenn Brown; sister, Betty Bowers and brothers, Ray Brown, J.B. Brown, Jimmy Brown and Allen Brown.

Surviving are his daughter, Lynn Brown Barham and husband, Don of Cornelius; sons, Mike Brown of Winston-Salem, Reid Brown and wife, Terri of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Virginia Brown of Asheboro; brother-in-law, Don Hill of Dekalb, IL; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Lewis Jeffrey Loflin Passes

 


Lewis Jeffrey Loflin passed away December 17, 2021. 

A service to celebrate Lewis’ life will be held on Tuesday, December 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Marlboro Friends Meeting, with Pastor John Sides and Ricky Sessoms, Minister, officiating. The committal service will follow in the Meeting cemetery. His family will receive friends on Monday, December 20, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.

Mr. Loflin was born August 5, 1938 to James Clyde and Cora Laone Davis Loflin. He is survived by his wife of 61 years; Linda Patton Loflin; his sons, Lyle Loflin and his wife, Kelly, Les Loflin and his wife, Ovelia, Lyndon Loflin and his wife, Lisa; his sister, Jessie Loflin Small and her husband, Paul. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Hayley Brown and her husband, Michael, Kayla Nichols and her husband, Elijah, Holly Bissette, Natalie Cannon and her husband, Will and 6 great grandchildren.

Carl Junior Laughlin

Carl Junior Laughlin, 83, of Randleman, NC, died Monday, March 23, 2020 at his residence.
No services are scheduled at this time.
Mr. Laughlin was a native of Randolph County, veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Laughlin was preceded in death by his parents, Shelly and Mattie Wright Laughlin.
Survivors: wife, Juanita York Laughlin, of the home, son, Carl J. Laughlin, wife Lynn, of Randleman, granddaughter, Courtney Laughlin, of Randleman.

James "Allen" Brown Dies

James "Allen" Brown, age 83, of Randleman died Sunday, March 1, 2020 at North Pointe.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Pugh Funeral Home, Rev. J. Arnold Luther officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
Born October 9, 1936 the son of Calvin and Ethel Laughlin Brown. Native of Randolph County; inaddition to his parents, Allen is preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Brown and long time companion Marie Pugh.
He is survived by his brother, Irvin Brown of Asheboro; grandchildren: Carrie and Butch Craven of Franklinville, Terrie and Ben, Starla and Rick Turpin of Randleman and Darla and Buddy Allred of Randleman; several great grandchildren.

Leona Laughlin Cox, 93, of Randleman, died Monday, October 7, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, at Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur and other times at the residence. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 11, 2019, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Ramseur, Rev. Jeffery Maness officiating. Burial to follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.
Native of Randolph County, Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie R. Cox, parents, Shelly and Mattie Wright Laughlin, sisters, Ola Johnson, Nelia Craven, Aretta Hill, Beulah Gray, brothers, Grady Laughlin, Worth Laughlin, Leslie Laughlin, George Laughlin, son in law, Cecil Henry Maness.
Survivors: daughter, Betty C. Maness, of Asheboro, son, Ray Cox and wife, Marie, of Randleman, brother, Carl Laughlin and wife, Juanita, of Randleman, eleven grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren.

ELK CREEK, VA-John William Loflin, age 64, of Elk Creek, Virginia, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at his residence. Memorial service held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Summerfield United Methodist Church, Elk Creek, VA; The Rev. Gleanna Dixon officiated. Born July 19, 1950 at High Point, North Carolina to William Theodore Loflin and Annie Pearl Hewitt. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survived by his wife Elizabeth (Beth) Loflin of the home; mother Annie Hewitt Loflin of Thomasville, NC; sister and spouse Bonnie and Herman Powell of Trinity, NC;  nephew Jeff Highfill and wife Laura of Charlotte, NC; a niece Amie Davis of Jamestown, NC. Native of Randolph County, the daughter of the late Edgar and Lillie Laughlin Loflin. Preceded in death by her son, Marty Kennedy and grandchild, Harry Wade Staley, Jr. Survivors: daughters, Sabrina Kennedy Black, and husband, Chris, of Siler City, Rhonda Mashburn, and husband, Tony, of Sanford, sons, Harry Staley, and wife, Betty, of Asheboro, Greg Kennedy, and wife, Donna, of Siler City, sister, Virginia Foley, of Asheboro, thirteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur. Officiating will be the Rev. Bruce Johnson and the Rev. Wayne Pugh. Burial will follow at Pleasant Cross Christian Church, Asheboro. Native of Randolph County, She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Johnson; her parents, Shelley and Mattie Wright Laughlin; brothers, Grady Laughlin, Worth Laughlin, Leslie Laughlin; and sisters, Beulah Gray and Aretta Hill. Survivors include daughters, Becky Pugh and husband, Rev. Wayne of Sophia, Carla Hazelwood of Randleman; sons, Roy Johnson and wife, Stephanie of Asheboro, Rev. Potty Mouth!

SOPHIA-If you can't buy the stuff why not grow it! All 152 lbs of it! Arthur Dale Loflin, who ties go back to Elizabeth Briles Laughlin (his great grandmother X2)got busted with the goods, which is valued at over $122,000! Loflin, 56, and Thea Gail Malicoat, 54, of 3664 Beckerdite Road, were both charged with two counts of trafficking in marijuana, maintaining a place for a controlled substance, conspiring to traffic in marijuana, three counts of simple possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing, selling or buy a gun with an altered serial number and possession of a firearm by a felon. Loflin and Bailcoat being held under $50,000 secured bonds, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday. Christopher Oliver Moore, a neighbor, was charged with charged with two counts of trafficking in marijuana, conspiring to traffic in marijuana, maintaining a place for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. YIKES!!!!

C. Wayne Loflin, passed away at his home on August 13, 2013. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 at Marlboro Friends Meeting, 2668 Marlboro Church Rd., Sophia with Rev. Ricky Sessoms officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held in the Sunday School wing after the services.Born in the Edgar area of Sophia on September 28, 1927 to Alva E. and Ethel Davis Loflin.  Preceded in death by his parents: Alva and Ethel Davis Loflin; wife, Louise Webster Loflin; daughter, LuEllen Loflin Morgan; sisters, Iris Cashatt, Edith Wagoner, Virginia Parks and Treva Pearman. Survived by son: Clifford W. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. Native of Randolph County and born May 1, 1959 to the late Thomas Arthur Loflin and Shirley Routh Griffin who survives. Preceded in death by her grandmother, Clara Routh. Survived by her son, Brandon Moser; mother, Shirley Griffin of Sophia; brothers, Dale Loflin and his wife Thea of Sophia, Ricky Loflin and his wife Karen of Trinity and Scott Loflin and his wife Rachel of Asheboro; nephews, Josh Loflin and his wife Veronica of Randleman, Issac and Matthew Loflin both of Asheboro; niece, Dasha Oxendine and her husband Jeremy of Trinity; great nieces, Emily and Cheyenne Oxendine of Trinity; and faithful canine companion Jasmine.
