Gladys Mae Hulin Brown 86 passed away on Thursday May 29, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in J.C.
Green & Sons Chapel with Rev. Elton Welborn officiating. Entombment
will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Born on January 26, 1928, a daughter of the late Henry Hulin and Adie
Gordon Hulin. She was preceded in
death by her husband of 70 years, Daniel Charles Brown, as well as two
daughters; Carroll Gray and Edith Ann Brown.
Surviving is her daughter; Janice Cranford of Thomasville, a son; Jerry
D. Brown and wife Linda of Holden Beach, NC; a sister; Donna Mabe and
husband Steve of Thomasville; also surviving are grandchildren; Tabitha
Mickey, Kendra Koontz, Barry Cranford, Daniel Cranford, Tara Cranford,
Jeffrey Brown, Timothy Brown, Jeremy Brown, and Kimberly Brown. Gladys
was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren.

Norman Austin Briles Dies
YELM, Wash.-Norman Austin Briles, 85, formerly of Plainville, passed
away peacefully at home on May 8. A graveside service, Rev. Alfred Helms
officiating, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Plainville Cemetery in
Indiana. Born Sept. 29, 1928, in Epsom, to the late Austin and Helen
(Scott) Briles. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Survived by
his wife of 60 years, Verda M. (Burkhart) Briles; a daughter, Cathy E.
Briles of Overland Park, Kansas; a son, Douglas J. (Mary) Briles of
Yelm; and a half brother, Bill Dawson. Preceded in death by his sister,
Ramona Smiley; two half brothers James and Gene Dawson; and a half
sister, Nancy Hinkle.

Charlie Odell Nance Died Today
Charlie Odell Nance, 86, of Piedmont Crossing, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Graveside service will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 at Holly Hill Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Pete Bumgarner and Rev. Joe Beane officiating. No formal visitation will be held. Born June 17, 1927 in Randolph County to John Nance and Mary Wall Nance. Veteran in the U. S. Navy serving with the Seabees during World War II; preceded in death by his parents. Married October 9, 1946 to Ruby Wardlaw Nance, who survives of Piedmont Crossing. Also surviving are sons, John Nance and wife Marilyn of Trinity, and Tom Nance and wife Kim of Thomasville; daughters, Sherry Bumgarner and husband Pete of Thomasville, Martha Jo Hill and husband Jimmy of Denton, and Gina Fidler and husband Scott of Raleigh; one brother, John Nance, Jr. of Thomasville; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Born February 13, 1933 in Davidson County to Walter Lee Hill and Eva Jane Pierce Hill. Interment Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Born December 2, 1953 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Wayne and Sheldrick (Carter) Briles. Surviving are his wife, Irene whom he married on April 20, 1974; children, RoxAnne (Joe) Heasley, Bryson (Lisa) Briles; grandchildren, Mista, Jerzy, Kaleb, Meisha, Cody, and Megan; great grandchildren, LaTaya and Lilliana; eight brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Charles Moses. Born October 7, 1944 in Randolph County to Charles Lester Parrish and Annie Mae Loflin Parrish, preceded in death by her husband; James A. Parrish and by a son; Patrick Neil Kindley. Survivors include, son; Nathan Kindley of Denton, step brother, Edward Loflin (Susan) of Denton, sisters; Bonnie Swaney (Donald) of Asheboro and Kathy Bowers (Dwight) of Thomasville. Mrs. Parrish's great great grandmother is Elizabeth Briles Robbins.
