Amy Annette Leonard, age 53 of Lexington, NC died Monday, August 19 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 24 at Jackson
Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Billy Joe Yates. .Interment
will follow in the Church Cemetery. Family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs
Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence of the sister
Vickie Yates on Jarrell Road. Born June 29, 1960 in Davidson County to Nession Leonard
and Frances Summey Leonard. Survived by her sons, Shaun Smith and Chad Smith both of
Lexington; sisters, Vickie Yates and husband Billy Joe, Donna Harrison
and husband Mickey all of Lexington and Judy Bryant and husband Darrell
of Thomasville.

Jack Dempsey Hunt Sr. passed Sunday afternoon at 5:25p.m. in the Hospice Home of High Point. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 3:00p.m. from the Chapel of
Cumby Family Funeral Service on Eastchester Dr. by the Rev. Steve Smith
and Rev. Don Duncan. Interment will follow in the Floral Garden Park
Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at 1:30p.m. until the
hour of the service.
Born July 23, 1935 in Randolph County a son of Jessie
Williams Hunt. On October 25,
l955 he was married to Nancy Armentrout who survives of the home. Also surviving are 2 daughters; Mrs. Randy (Patti) Russell and Mrs.
Salvatore (Karen) Matthews both of High Point; 1 Son Jack D. Hunt Jr. of
Thomasville; 2 Brothers; Gene Hunt and wife Leslie of Kernersville and
Buster Hunt of High Point; 6 Grandchildren; Courtnee Swaim and husband
Silas, Nicholas Hargrove and wife Kaila, Maigan Sanders and husband
Charles; Jack Hunt III , Corey Hunt and Evan Hunt; 3 Great
Grandchildren; Julian Hunt, Jacob Sanders and Nicholas Grant Hargrove.

Ruth Jane Small Surratt, age 90, of Trinity died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Randolph Hospice House. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00
a.m. at Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, Ross Wood Rd., Trinity
with Elder Ted Morton and Rev. Johnny Ray Gardner officiating. Burial
will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on
Friday, August 16, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro. Born on
March 6, 1923 in Trinity, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Small. In addition to her parents,
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Edward Surratt. Survived by her son, Edward "Eddie" Surratt, Jr. and his wife Sheila
of Trinity; granddaughter, Michelle Surratt Sarvis and her husband Mike
of Trinity; great grandson, Justin Woody of Trinity; and sister, Lois
Jordan of Greensboro.

Beta Testing for Radio Network Complete!
Beta testing for the Briles Information Radio Network is complete, which
brings us to phase II of the project. Many thanks to SamVibe for the
free service during the testing process. The beta testing consisted of a
24-hour loop of pre-recorded programming with no live content. We now
move to the actual implementation of the radio station to allow for live
broadcasting with a toll free line for requests and interviews, remote
broadcasting, and SKYPE contact capabilities. Final phase should be
complete within the next two months. Stay Tuned!

C. Wayne Loflin, passed away at his home on August 13, 2013. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 at Marlboro Friends Meeting, 2668 Marlboro Church Rd., Sophia with Rev. A visitation will be held in the Sunday School wing after the services.Born in the Edgar area of Sophia on September 28, 1927 to Alva E. and Ethel Davis Loflin. Preceded in death by his parents: Alva and Ethel Davis Loflin; wife, Louise Webster Loflin; daughter, LuEllen Loflin Morgan; sisters, Iris Cashatt, Edith Wagoner, Virginia Parks and Treva Pearman. Survived by son: Clifford W. Magalene McDowell Cook, 87 of Archdale died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at High Point
Regional Hospital. Funeral
services for Mrs. Cook will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday at Fairview United
Methodist Church with the Reverend Harold Shives and the Reverend Nancy
Krall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The
family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at
Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale. Born March 26, 1926 in Guilford County she is a
daughter of the late Alfred Levi McDowell and Mamie SIlman McDowell .She was married to Paul Thomas
Cook who preceded her in death on February 23, 1986. Also preceding her
in death are her parents and sisters Eloise Reid, Dorothy “Dot”
McDonald and Betty Davis and brothers George McDowell, Riley McDowell
and Reverend Garland McDowell. Survived by one son Gary
Paul Cook and his wife Sherrie of Trinity and two wonderful
grandchildren, Tyler Paul Cook and Travis Lee Cook whom she loved and
cared for very much. She is also survived by siblings, Julius McDowell
of Trinity, Terry McDowell and wife Margie of High Point, Lera Owen of
Archdale, Martha Shives and husband Reverend Harold Shives of Archdale
and Irene Parks and husband Richard of St. Lucey, FL.

Justin Thomas Parrish Passes at Baptist Hospital
Justin Thomas Parrish, 23, of
Denton, died Saturday, August 3, 2013 in the Wake Forest Baptist Medical
Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 4 P.M. in Cid
United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandy Young and Rev. Robert Hedrick
officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the
service.
J.C. Green & Sons is assisting the family.
Born February 19, 1990 in Guilford County a son of Phil Steven
Parrish and Pamela Kearns Parrish. He was preceded in death by a brother, Baby
Michael.
On March 12, 2010 he was married to Shannon Hedrick, who survives of the
home.
Also surviving are his parents, Pamela “Pam” Parrish and Steven “Steve”
Parrish, both of Thomasville; a daughter, Keely Parrish of the home;
son, Ryan Parrish of the home; step-daughter, Hannah Stacy of the home;
step-sons, Jordan Stacy and Skylar Stacy of Archdale; sisters, Alysha
Parrish of Lexington and Gracie Parrish of Thomasville; brothers,
Michael Parrish and wife Kerry of Troy, Xzavier Parrish and Landon
Parrish, both of Thomasville; maternal grandmother, Jane Edwards of High
Point.
