Corrina Sue Durst

Corrina Sue Durst, 66, passed on August 5, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, Friday, August 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Bynum officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Friday.

She was born on October 4, 1957, to Dennis Thomas and Naomi Pearl Briles.

Corrina is proceeded in death by her daughter, Amber Varian; parents, Naomi Pearl and Dennis Thomas Briles; mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Nellie Durst.

Corrina is survived by her loving husband, Dale Durst; her daughter, Diana (Bryan) Varney; grandchildren, Zachary Fields, Madison Varney, and Mikayla Varney; brother, Paul (Love) Briles; nephews, Andrew and Ezra Briles.

Clyde Lee Hunt

Clyde Lee Hunt, 78, of Lexington, passed away August 3, 2024, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Lexington.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 5 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Shiloh Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Paul Perkins officiating. The family will receive friends in the church one hour before the service.

Clyde was born August 28, 1945, in Davidson County, to John Thomas Hunt and Sallie Story Hunt. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Tom Hunt, sisters, Josphine (Sissy) Rowland, Margaret (Handsome) Wall, Judy (Dumpy) Berrier.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Berrier Hunt, of the home, sons, C.L. Hunt and wife Lisa, Mark Hunt and wife Susan, both of Lexington; grandchildren, Bailey, Austin, Clay, and Chase, brother, Ellis (Fuzzy) Hunt and wife Debra of Holden Beach, NC, sister, Lorine (Noodie) Gobble of Mocksville.

Harold Lee Briles, age 87, of Ellettsville, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024.

Mr. Briles was born in Linton, Indiana on June 22, 1937 to the late William Edgar & Ruth Shoufler Briles.

A gathering of family and friends for Harold will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Ellettsville First Assembly of God, 115 W. Association St., Ellettsville, Indiana 47429, followed by a memorial celebration of life at 1:00 PM.

JoAnn Barnes Rogers


JoAnn Barnes Rogers, 91, of Asheboro, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Hospice Home of High Point.


A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024, at New Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Thomas Rogers officiating.


Born in Randolph County, NC on June 27, 1933, Mrs. Rogers was the daughter of the late Lee and Lydia Barnes. 


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Houston Thomas "H.T." Rogers; sisters, Jewell Barnes, Leta Morton, Mary Louise Barnes; and brothers, Morrison Barnes and John Wesley Barnes.


She is survived by her daughter, Tammie Rogers Swaim (Randall) of Thomasville; son, Thomas Anthony "Tony" Rogers (Ann) of Monroe; grandchildren, Chad Rogers (Melissa) of Weddington, Ashley Swaim Morgan (Tyler) of Maiden, Scott Swaim of Thomasville, Steven Clayton, Shawna Clayton both of Wingate, Chad Herd, Ashley Herd, both of Florida; great grandchildren, Dela Rogers, Maya Rogers, Chloe Rogers, Waylon Chase Morgan, Caden Herd, Dylan Herd, and Sander Clayton.

Linda Wells

Ms. Linda Wells, age 79, passed away peacefully, on July 20th, 2024. 

A memorial committal service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville with Rev. David Emery officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville from 10:30 to 11:30 am.

Linda was born May 29, 1945, a daughter of the late Alliene Pierce Smith and Charles Joseph Smith, in Thomasville, NC. 

She is survived by two children, her son Todd Wells of Apex, NC, and her daughter Dawn Zheng of Durham, NC; three grandchildren, Emma Wells, Adam Wells, and Bridgett Zheng; her sister, Jean S. Haigler, her brother-in-law, Henry Haigler, her nephew, H. James Haigler, Jr., her niece, Elizabeth (Haigler) Sodano, her great nephew, and two great nieces.

Burl Keith "Junior" Davenport, Jr

ARCHDALE - Burl Keith "Junior" Davenport, Jr. 50, died Friday, July 19, 2024, at Thomasville Medical Center.

Memorial service celebrating Burl's life will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, July 26, 2024, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Trinity.

He was born June 11, 1974, in Davidson County and was the son of Carolyn Diane Hulin Curry.

Burl is survived by his daughter, Becca Davenport of Archdale; three step-daughters, Rhiannon Gallimore, Bridgette Gallimore and Talia Gallimore, all of Salisbury; his mother, Carolyn Hullin Curry, and her husband, Marvin, of Archdale; sister, Angie Hunt (John) of Thomasville; brother, Tim Davenport of Cartersville, Georgia; nephew, Charlie Hunt; and two nieces, Haleigh Hunt and Kaleigh Hunt.

Leila Jane Donnelly

Leila Jane Donnelly passed July 14, 2024, in Keller, Texas.

Born on August 13, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, Leila was the daughter of Gerald Emmet and Mildred Leila (Briles) Roberts.

In 1974, Leila married Peter J. Donnelly. Leila is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mildred Roberts, as well as her older brother, Terry Shelton.

She is survived by her loving family - her husband Peter J. Donnelly, her children, Robert J Dorband,Jr., David Alan Dorband (LiRong), and Kathleen E. Simms (Clif), grandchildren, great grandchildren,her sisters Shirley Kozlow, Rae F. Byington, and Gerilyn Behan, along with her brother, Eddie Roberts.

A rosary and reception celebrating Leila's life will be held from 5PM-8PM on July 29th at the Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Tx.  A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 10:30AM July 30th , followed by an Inurnment.

Lois Evelyn Kindley Summey, 83, formerly of Cunningham Rd., Thomasville, NC passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Thomasville Medical Center.

A private burial will be held at Tom’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lois was born on August 6, 1940, in Randolph County to Arbulus Kindley and Stella Hughes Kindley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Clayton Summey, son, Toney Summey, a brother, Leo Kindley, and her sister, Shirley Kindley Summey.

She is survived by a brother, Dallas Kindley and wife Shirley of Denton, 2 grandchildren, Andrew and Megan; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Nellie Lois Parrish Bailey

Mrs. Nellie Lois Parrish Bailey, age 90, of Thomasville, NC passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at the Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County.  

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Pastor Dr. E. Keith Carroll officiating.  Interment will follow in Heath Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM. 

Born, October 6, 1933 to the late Howard and Bessie Cody Parrish. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Aderhold; her brothers, Alton, Austin, and Bruce Parrish; and her sisters, Marie Embler and Virgie Kennedy.

On November 30, 1973, she married Oscar Bailey, Jr., who survives of the home; also surviving in addition to her husband of 50 years, is her son, Evan Aderhold; step-daughter, Abby Browe (Ricky); grandson, Forest Aderhold; granddaughters, Shiloh Holley (Mike), Bethany Vigilante (Blaine), and Tiffany Parrish (Derrick); great-grandchildren, Penelope (Nell) Holley and Daeson Gaines; and special nieces.
