Larry Wayne Walker

TRINITY – Larry Wayne Walker, 72, died Sunday, January 1, 2023, at his residence.

Funeral service celebrating Larry’s life will be private. Private burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.

There will be no formal visitation but the body will lie in repose from 12:00 to 2:00PM Saturday, January 7, 2023, in the Chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

He was born May 5, 1950, in High Point and was the son of Barbara Ann Hurst Walker and the late Glenn Lee Walker. 

Larry is survived by his daughter, Tracy Zimmerman of Virginia; grandson, Landon Zimmerman; mother, Barbara Hurst Walker of Archdale; sister, Carolyn “Carol” Taylor of Jefferson; two nieces, Sherri Powers and Karen Bell (Darren), both of Hamptonville; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jackie Walker Dies, Grandmother is Sarah Briles Walker

ARCHDALE-Jackie T. Walker, 82, passed Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

A service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Bishop Steve Rich officiating. The committal service will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Monday, October 11, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

He was born on October 15, 1938 in Randolph County, a son of the late William Robert Walker and Eula Rush Walker.
 In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his brothers, Rayford, Robert, Paul, Charles, Odis, Benson, Dale, Glenn, Roy and Billy.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Priscilla O’Brien Walker; his children, Renee Walker and Timothy Walker; his sister, Ruth Wall and her husband, Raymond; his grandchildren, Chris, Kayla, Lexi and Jake. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Eli, Ezra and Eden and a number of nieces and nephews.

His grandmother is Sarah Briles Walker (Paternal) Also seven generations back to Mary Briles Rush (Maternal)

Elsie Mae Sumner White

Elsie Mae Sumner White of Archdale, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 16, 2021.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sophia, NC.

Elsie was born on April 22, 1925 in Level Cross, NC to the late Robert Nelson Sumner and Ida Walker Sumner. 

She was married to Worth Peace White on December 19, 1942 and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2003. Elsie was preceded in death by six brothers; Robert Nelson Sumner, Jr., Carl Sumner, Paul Sumner, Wayne Sumner, Doak Sumner, Don Sumner, and two sisters; Ruby (Bea) Sumner and Louie Sumner Walker.

She is survived three children, Janice (Jan) White Burge of Archdale; Joyce White Gamarra of Greensboro and Donald E. White and wife Maria of Archdale; two sisters Ruth Sumner Ives of Bowie, MD and Lea Sumner Donovan of Bethlehem, PA; seven grandchildren, Debbie Burge Cecil and husband Danny, Renee Burge Blake, Todd Ridge and wife Angie, Stephanie White Bailey and husband Wyatt, Dakota White, Kathryn White and Olivia White; four great grandchildren, Isabella, Lily and Lucy Ridge and Ewan Felder.

Odis Baxter Walker

Odis Baxter Walker, 96, of Archdale, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Hospice Home at High Point. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Deep River Church of Christ with Evangelist David Galloway and Evangelist John Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church. Born June 29, 1922, in Randolph, County, he was a son of the late Robert Walker and the late Eula Rush Walker.  Mr. Walker is survived by his children, James Leroy Walker and wife Cathy of Trinity, Judi Farlow and husband Joel of Trinity, Keith Morris and wife Judy of Tennessee, Brenda Luther of High Point, and Glenda Voigt and husband Robert of Wake Forest; brother, Jackie Walker and wife Priscilla of Trinity; sister, Ruth Wall and husband Melton of Randleman; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Morris Walker; daughter, Diane Amos; and nine brothers.

Reverend Charles Branson Walker Dies

TRINITY-Reverend Charles Branson Walker, 97, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Hinkle Hospice Home, with his wife and family by his side. A celebration of Charles’ life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, 4736 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Sophia, NC. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 17, at the church.Born January 18, 1920, in Trinity, NC.  He was the fourth of twelve children of the late William Robert Walker and Eula Melita Rush Walker.  He is survived by his wife, Mozelle Smith Walker (they would have been married 75 years on February 23); his children, Ann Walker Allnutt of Archdale, Janice Walker Allred and husband Craig of Lexington, and Debra Walker Siler and husband Billy of High Point; grandchildren, Toni Snyder (Jay), Kimberly Bekat, Cynthia Phelps (Dean), Branson Allred, Kyle Siler (fiancĂ©e Trina Crawford), Kristen Lawlor (EJ), and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his only sister, Ruth Wall, and brothers, Odis Walker and Jackie Walker, as well as many close friends. He is predeceased by his parents; an infant daughter, Jeanette Kay Walker; and eight brothers.

Rev. Walker's grandmother is Sarah Briles Walker. His mom has six direct lines to Mary Briles Rush.
