Shirley Bailey Briles, 83, of Hurt died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Autumn Care of Altavista. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14,
2015 at New Bethel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. R.A. "Dick"
Daily with interment to follow in the church cemetery.The family will
receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Friday at Finch & Finch
Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the
residence. Preceded in death by the late Garland W. Briles. Born July 12, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late William Herbert Bailey and Lena Compton Bailey. She is survived by a son, Ronald C. Briles of Hurt; her best friend and sister-in-law, Susie D. Bailey of Hurt; a niece, Sharon B. Rowland and her husband Danny of Gretna; two nephews, Herbert E. (Herb) Bailey and his wife Joann of Hurt and Winfred P. Bailey and his wife Kathy of Spencer; four great nieces, three great nephews, four great great nieces, and three great great nephews. Also preceded in death by a a sister, Virginia T. Gordon and a brother, William Paul Bailey.
