Darlene Kindley Smith passed at her home on May 18, 2025.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Ridge Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Bethel Friends Meeting Cemetery, Asheboro, with Pastor John Gunter and Pastor Ricky Sessoms officiating.

Born September 1, 1940, in Randolph County, NC, Darlene was the daughter of the late Armal Thomas Kindley and Wilma Rush Kindley.

Preceded in death by her husband, Bob Snith; brother, Thomas Ray Kindley.

Survivors include her daughter, Dedie Weaver; son, Darin Smith (Kimberly); sisters, Beatrice Pierce, Nelia Ann Kennedy, Voncil Bescher, Reba Grubb (Ronnie), Wanda Teague (JT), Jane Yates; sister-in-law, Margaret Kindley; grandchildren, Aaron Weaver, Allison Weaver, Tanner Smith, and Curtis Smith.

Jerry Franklin Parrish


Jerry Franklin Parrish, age 62, passed away on May 17, 2025, in Randolph County.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Midstate Cremation & Funeral Service chapel, with Mr. Phillip Steed officiating.
He was born on September 18, 1962, in Davidson County to the late Arris and Bessie Hulin Parrish.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Snider Parrish; his daughter, Amanda Parrish, and her husband, Matthew Zorn; and his stepdaughter, Khoadie Marie Dunn, and her boyfriend, Trevor Staley. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Lexi Parrish and Brantley Zorn, along with his step-grandchild, Emory Rose Staley. Jerry leaves behind his devoted sister, Rita P. Steed, and her husband, Phillip, as well as his former wife, Dina S. Parrish Pirt. Many aunts and uncles.

Lori Rachele Sartore-Briles, 63, passed away on May 1, 2025.

A private memorial will be held by her family to honor her life.
 
Born on July 21, 1961. Pre-deceased by her mother, Barbara Faye Jones-Russell and her father, Raymond Sartore.

Surviving: her husband, Maynard Briles, son, Steven Black. Her granddaughters, Aaryana and Ava Black; sister, Lisa Wolfe, younger brother, Steve Sartore, and her nephews, Noah, Abram, Jonah, and Sam Sartore.

Julia (Judy) Snider Wiley


Julia (Judy) Snider Wiley, 94, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2025 at Pennybyrn.


A funeral service for Judy will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10 AM at Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations, 976 Phillips Avenue, High Point, NC. Rev. Brian Matherlee and Rev. David Emery will officiate. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 PM to 8 PM on Friday, May 9,2025.


Judy was born October 25, 1930, in High Point to the late Ernest Monroe Snider and Ressie Kinley Snider.


On December 22,1950 she married Thomas M. Wiley, Sr. They were married sixty-nine years until Tommy's death on March 28, 2020.


Surviving are her daughter Lynda Wiley Wright (Rocky), her loving sister Ernestine Hayworth, her granddaughter Laura Maness, her daughter-in-law Joann Wiley, her granddaughter-in-law Detra Morgan (Colt), great-grandchildren and three nieces. She also had a bonus daughter Phyllis Pierce who worked with Tom and Judy for many years. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her son Thomas (Tim) M. Wiley, Jr., son-in-law Roger McHenry, and grandson R. Brian McHenry.

Debra “Debbie” Bowman Thompson, 72, of Sophia, passed away in her home, Friday morning, May 2, 2025, in Sophia, NC. 


Service: Why Not Wesleyan Church in Seagrove (1402 NC-705) on Wednesday, May 7th at 11:00am.


The daughter of Allen Millikan Bowman and the late Lalah Marie Rush Bowman, Debbie was born December 31, 1952, at Randolph Hospital.


She was preceded in death by her mother, Lalah Marie Rush Bowman. She is survived by her father, Allen Millikan Bowman; husband, Michael “Mike” Ray Thompson of Sophia; sister, Beverly Bowman Hunt and husband Tom of Trinity; brother, James Allen Bowman and wife Ginger of Sophia; daughter, Angela Thompson Rowland and husband Mike of Pinehurst; son, Michael Leroy Thompson II and wife Ashley of Lexington; grandchildren: Madeline Rowland Nelson and husband Joshua of Pinehurst; Michael Clark Rowland III and fiancé Alexis Smith of Pinehurst; Michaela Marie Rowland of Pinehurst, Matthew Charles Rowland of Pinehurst, Megan Denise Rowland of Pinehurst, Miranda Ann Rowland of Pinehurst, Mitchell Cash Rowland of Pinehurst, Brooklyn Alexandria Thompson of Lexington, Michael LeRoy Thompson III of Lexington; great grandchild, Lalah Olivia Nelson of Pinehurst; and stepdaughter, Kristy Thompson Flowers; along with many other loving family members in Randolph County.


Her great grandmother is Aurelia Roella Briles Miller.

Joy Ruth Briles Small, 93, of Randleman passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Graveside services will be Thursday, April 17, 2025, 2:00 - 3:00 pm, at Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born September 14, 1931 in Randolph County, NC to Flake Armfield Briles and Edna Pauline Williams Briles. She is preceded in death by her husband, son, and several brothers and sisters.

Ruth is survived by her daughter-in-law, Helen Small; brother, Harold Briles of Trinity; sisters, Bertie Lemmonds of Pleasant Garden, Mary Lou Kindley of Lexington, and Barbara Briles of Julian.

Thomas Nathaniel Adams


Thomas Nathaniel Adams, 85, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Mountain Vista Health Park.

A funeral service for Thomas will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Fairview United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Higgins and Rev. Sandy Young officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:30 until 2:00 PM at Fairview United Methodist Church prior to the service.

Born in Davidson County on November 12, 1939, he was the son of Earlie Adams and Sallie Ann Kearns Adams. Veteran, United States Army. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Haydee Torres Adams, and a sister, Nancy A. Dunn.

He is survived by his sisters, Rebecca Rivero of Winston Salem, Diane Bell (Curtis) of Kernersville, and Rosa Melton (James) of Angier.

Mary Lou Briles, 87, passed away March 3, 2025.

The family will greet friends Monday, March 10, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mary Lou was born March 19, 1937 in Des Moines to DL and Thelma (Dawson) Brubaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, DL and Thelma Brubaker and her brother, Darrell Brubaker.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of almost 70 years, Marvin Briles; children, Stephen (Christina) Briles, John (Penni) Briles and Ellyn Briles; grandchildren, Benjamin (Taylor), Collin, Danielle and Darian; great-grandchildren, Emmett and Ellie; and her brother, Bill Brubaker.

Burial will follow in the Bumgarner Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2025, prior to the service at the church.

Born in Randolph County, NC, on January 6, 1951, Brenda was the daughter of Jack Lee Shortsleeve and Mary Esther Hoover Shortsleeve. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Bumgarner. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Derrick Bryan Bumgarner and great grandson, Greyson Hodge.

Surviving are her daughters, Stacey Hodge (William) of Asheboro, Jac Bumgarner of Asheboro; son, Matt Bumgarner (Wendy) of Knoxville, TN; sister, Susan Shortsleeve Hill (Kenneth) of Asheboro; 12 grandchildren, Logan, Liza Ray, Carrie, Laura, Drew, Hayley, Morgan, Luke, Jake, Bryanna, Journey, Ryker; nine great grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Jasper.

She was born on November 16, 1935 in High Point, NC to Irvin Daniel Robbins and Alma Louise Bridges Robbins.

Roy Harris Summey, 84, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

A graveside service will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville with his nephew, Pastor Mack Summey, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery. No formal visitation will be held.

Roy was born August 9, 1940 to the late Lewis William Summey and Evelyn Briles Summey in Davidson County. He married Shirley Ann Kindley Summey April 26, 1963. 

In addition to his parents and his wife, Roy was preceded in death by his son, Randy Summey; two brothers, Clayton and Wayne Summey. Surviving are his brother, Mack Summey and wife Thelma of Trintiy; three nephews and a niece.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in the Archdale Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with Pastor Roger Carmichael officiating. The committal will follow the service at Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery in Asheboro, NC.

A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Ruth was born on February 3, 1931, to the late William R. Walker and the late Eula Rush.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Raymond Wall; and her nine brothers: Wade, Raeford, Charles, Otis, Joe, Billy, Jackie, Benson, and Paul Walker.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Ronnie Wall (Tammy) of Mebane and Dean Wall of Sophia; five grandchildren, Jeremy Wall (Jennifer), Jason Wall (Melinda), April Ward, Keith Wall, Krista Nance (Aaron) and six great-grandchildren.
