Erman Eugene Black
Erman Eugene Black, 76, a resident of Tabernacle Church Rd., died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Hospice Home at High Point. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Myra Ward-Brown and Rev. Craig O’Hara officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Born on April 27, 1937 in Randolph County to James Lee Black and Nannie Alma Briles Black . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fallie Lou Hooks Black on May 23, 1983, whom he married January 29, 1955; sister, Kathleen Mabe; brother, James Black; and two grandsons, Donnie Nance and Steve Deatherage. Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Coleman and husband Robert of the home, and Teresa Nance and husband Billy of Lexington; one grandson, Ricky Nance of Polkton, NC; and one great-granddaughter, Skylar Nance.

Edward Forest Swicegood, II, age 71, of Asheboro died Monday, September 23, 2013 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation, Asheboro. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at West Bend United Methodist Church Cemetery. Born January 21, 1942 in Asheboro to Edward F. and Hazel McCain Swicegood; preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Kearns Swicegood and daughter, Paula S. Swing. Survived by his son, Ted Swicegood and his wife Penny of Asheboro; grandson, Ethan Swing of Asheboro; brother, Tommy Swicegood and his wife Peggy of North Myrtle Beach, SC; nephew, Ben Swicegood.

SOPHIA-If you can't buy the stuff why not grow it! All 152 lbs of it! Arthur Dale Loflin, who ties go back to Elizabeth Briles Laughlin (his great grandmother X2)got busted with the goods, which is valued at over $122,000! Loflin, 56, and Thea Gail Malicoat, 54, of 3664 Beckerdite Road, were both charged with two counts of trafficking in marijuana, maintaining a place for a controlled substance, conspiring to traffic in marijuana, three counts of simple possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing, selling or buy a gun with an altered serial number and possession of a firearm by a felon. Loflin and Bailcoat being held under $50,000 secured bonds, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday. Christopher Oliver Moore, a neighbor, was charged with charged with two counts of trafficking in marijuana, conspiring to traffic in marijuana, maintaining a place for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. YIKES!!!!

Mary Frances Kinley Luck, 70, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, September 13, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, September 15, 2013, at Ulah Church of God with Rev. Alex Shelton officiating. Wake: Family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Johnny and Alicia Luck.Burial will follow at Hopewell Friends Meeting Cemetery in Asheboro. Native of Davidson County, NC, Mrs. Luck was born October 22, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Fred Edward Kinley and Elsie Pauline Parks Kinley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Luck was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Ashley, Joyce Greene, Lorene Luck and her brother, Ray Gene Luck. Survived by her husband of 53 years, David H. Luck; of the home; sons, Johnny E. Luck and wife, Alicia, Timothy D. Luck, Kevin A. Irene Clifton Briles
Irene Clifton Briles, 96, died September 3, 2013 at Friends Home Guilford. A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 5, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with interment to follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Born in Patrick, VA to the late Mr. and Mrs. S. Lester and Lillie M. Martin Clifton. She married Philip F. Simmons who died in 1943 while in France serving in WWII. Her second husband, Austin Hughes Briles died in 1998. She is survived by her son, Doyle Simmons and wife Kathy of Greensboro; grandchildren, Clifton Simmons and wife Laura and Steven Simmons both of Greensboro; great grandchildren, Traci Simmons, Quentin Simmons, Stephanie Simmons, and Michelle Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.
