John Clay Gallimore Dies

John “J.C.” “Jake” Clay Gallimore, 74, passed Wednesday, August 16, 2011 in the Lexington Health Care Center. No visition. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11 A.M. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with Rev. Alan Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Born July 27, 1937 in Davidson County, a son of G. Clay Gallimore and Bessie Kindley Gallimore. Preceded in death by a sister, Velna Hedrick and brothers, Raymond Odell Gallimore and Edward Ray Gallimore. Surviving are a brother, Albert Lee Gallimore and wife Peggy of Thomasville and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Carter Hedrick Passes

Dorothy Carter Hedrick, age 91, passed August 19, 2011, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC. Funeral services will be at Holly Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Born October 23, 1919 to the late William & Alice Kindley Carter; preceded in death her husband, Jacob Thad Hedrick; sister Edith May and brother Luke Carter. Surviving is her son, Philip Hedrick.

George Clinton Cashatt Dies

George Clinton Cashatt of Trinity passed away on August 14, 2011 at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, August 17th at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth B. Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. Born on May 12, 1920 to James and Lou Etta Pierce Cashatt of Randolph County. Clinton was preceded in death by his wife, Annie, and eight brothers and sisters, Beaulah Mae and Charles Clifton Cashatt, Arvle Cashatt, Magalene Bailey, Hazel Lowe, Glenn Cashatt, Percy Cashatt, and Sidney Cashatt. Survived by his daughter Donna Overcash and son-in-law, Larry of Trinity; his son Rick Cashatt and daughter-in-law, Margie, of Clayton, Georgia; four grandchildren, Cindy Neal and husband Jerry of Archdale; Marcie Cates and husband Chris, of Charlotte; Matthew Cashatt, and wife Monica, of Seattle; and Christy Overcash of Asheboro. Clinton is also survived by his ten great-grandchildren whom he loved very much, Catie, Alec and Zachary Neal; Jackson, Max, Charlie, and Sophia Cates; and Amelia, Avery, and Corinne Cashatt. In addition, Clinton leaves behind four siblings, Elmer Cashatt of Gastonia, Pearl Hunt of Asheboro, Rosie Austin of Lexington, and Christine Tucker of Glenola and several nieces and nephews.

Donald Reese Yow, the son of Herbert & Rena Hollingsworth Yow passed on August 11, 2011. Family will receive friends Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman, NC. Funeral service will be held Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist in Randleman with Rev. Carol Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born in Randolph County and was married to Ann H. Yow in 1961 and is survived by her and two children; Donald Gregory Yow of Randleman and Trisha Ann Henderson and her husband Todd of Franklinville; brothers, Glenn Yow, Bobby Yow and his wife Evelyn all of Asheboro; sisters; Jean McCollum, Peggy Brookshire and her husband Joe all of Randleman; three grandchildren, William Reece Henderson, Kynley Anna Henderson and Macey Nikole Henderson all of Franklinville. In addition to his parents Donald is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jack Mccollum and sister-in-law Kitty Yow.

Ernest McCain (Bud) Richardson Dies

Ernest McCain (Bud) Richardson age 85 died Thursday, August 11 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. Graveside service with military honors will be held 1:00 pm Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Taylor’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Tommy Tysinger. The family will see friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Born October 27, 1925 in Randolph County to Grady Richardson and Anna Belle McCain Richardson. Survived by his wife, Mildred Hogan Gallimore Richardson of the home, a son Steve Richardson and wife lee of Midland; brother Tom Richardson of Sophia; sisters, Anna L. Staley, Dot Hill and Maxine White all of Asheboro and grandchildren Anna and Stacy, and great-grandchild Ethan.

Doris McLeod Bulla Dies

Doris McLeod Bulla, 85, of Archdale, NC, passed Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Funeral service will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale on Friday, August 12, 2011, from 6 to 8 pm. Born on July 21, 1926 in Montgomery County, a daughter of the late Daniel (Kim) and Phoebe McLeod. Surviving are her children, daughters, Joyce Kivett and her husband, Craig, and Linda Clark and her husband, Darren, her son, Don Bulla; grandchildren, Julie Kivett Whitt, Brian Kivett, Molly Clark; and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Irene Hayworth and Allene Coggins and her brother, Donald McLeod, of IL. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Doyle McLeod.

Was married to Alexander Bulla Jr. (Divorced in 1979). His lineage dates back to Conrad & Margaret Rush Briles.

Vera Young, age 88, of Lexington passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at High Point Regional Cancer Center.  Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday August 9, 201 at Memorial United Church of Christ; Rev. David Burgess and Tim Floyd officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial UCC Cemetery. Born in Davidson County August 29, 1922 to William Christopher Burkhart and Lilly Crotts Burkhart.Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, Woodrow Young on December 22, 2001 and a sister, Ruth Briggs. Survived by two daughters, Patricia Floyd and husband Clifton and Martha Jane Rash and husband Charles all of Lexington; three sons, Rodney Young and wife Nancy, Craig Young and wife Michele and Jeffrey Young and special friend Kathy Musgrave all of Lexington; grandchildren, Michele Allred, Renee Adkins and husband John, Tim Floyd and wife Theresa, Todd Young and wife Michelle, Amy Larson and husband John, Jason Rash and wife Crystal, Eric Young, Spencer Young and Bradley Young; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Briggs, Theda Smith and Kitty Ann Greene all of Lexington; two brothers, Clayburn and Bryce Burkhart of Lexington.

SALISBURY - Jesse Wade Parks, 21, of Salisbury, passed Monday, July 18, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral service was held at at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2001 in the Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home chapel, conducted by Pastor Sherri Barnes. Burial followed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Born May 27, 1990, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of Craig Dean and Marnita Rogers Parks of Salisbury. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Norma Rogers of Salisbury and Donald and Peggy Metters Parks of Lexington. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Jacob Franklin Parks of the home

Joel Pierce is running for City Council of Thomasville, NC. The Nonpartisan plurality election is set for November 8, 2011 where seven seats are up for grabs. Joel Pierce is a Briles descendant, twice! He is the son of Nolan Irvin & Bonnie Grubb Pierce. His lineage dates back to Ansel & Mary Briles Pearce (Mary, Frederick Briles, Conrad Briles) and through his grandmother's family, Millie Barnes Pierce. Her line also goes back to Conrad & Margaret Rush Briles because her grandparents are Henry and Elizabeth Kindley Barnes (Elizabeth Kindley, Jacob, William, Shadrach and Margaret Briles Kindley, Michael Briles, Conrad Briles).
