Catherine Beck Leonard, age 92, passed Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Alston Brook Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held 4 pm Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Dr. Walter Patten officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. Born in Davidson County, August 13, 1917 to Walter J. Beck and Alice Shirley Beck. Preceded in death by her parents; husband James "Roy" Leonard on March 2, 1994; six sisters, Savannah Younts, Eunice Wright, Nina Sledge, Elsie Everhart, Florence Beck and Ora Beck; two brothers, Oscar Beck and Howard Beck. Surviving are; one sister Velna Beck Swing of Lexington; special Nephew and Niece, Richard and Martha Swing of Lexington; other nieces and a nephew; long time friends, Eddie and Doris Sigmon of Hickory, NC and Al and Ruby Thomasson of Garden City, SC.
Clois Gilmer "Shorty" Beck, 89, passed Monday, August 9, 2010, at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at Hedrick's Grove United Church of Christ, Revs. William Sowers and David Crook officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born September 8, 1920, in Davidson County, to John Henry and Iva Lohr Beck. His wife, Della Mae Davis, preceded him in death October 30, 1996. Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Lohr Beck, Cromer Beck, Odell Beck and Lawrence Beck; and a sister, Kathleen Beck Thompson. Surviving are three sons, Larry Gilmer Beck and wife, Sue, Johnny Shelton Beck and wife, Sydney, and Tommy Davis Beck and wife, Kay; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Beck Cross, Julie Christie Beck, Ashley Beck Gentry, Johnny Shelton Beck Jr., and Lisa Beck Edwards; six great-grandchildren, Mikayla Simone Cross, Austin Davis Cross, Sydney Paxton Gentry, Davis Aidan
