Virginia Lee Briles Gardner Dies

Virginia Lee Briles Gardner, 87, Hartford, died on December 19, 2016, at the Life Care Center in Burlington. Memorial Services were held Monday, January 2, 2017, at the Hartford United Methodist Church. Inurnment followed in the Lena Valley Cemetery. Born on January 13, 1929, at Richter, Kansas, to John Charles and Dessie Duvall Briles. On June 9, 1951, she married Daniel R. Gardner, who survives; preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dorothy Apgar and Beth Gentry, and a grandson. Also survived by four sons, George (Sharon) Gardner, St. George, Fred (Jackie) Gardner, Garnett, David (Nancy) Gardner, Newton, Vernon Gardner, Luellen, NE, two daughters, Mary Hoover, Lyons, and Elizabeth (Kevin) Fox, Syracuse, a sister, Beverly Swenson, Broomfield, CO, 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Alberta Elizabeth "Beth" Briles Gentry

While checking death notices around the county I came upon one with direct ties to Briles in Randolph County, specifically the granddaughter of John & Elizabeth Welborn Briles. Alberta "Beth" Briles Gentry, daughter of John Charles & Dessie Duvall Briles passed away January 24th of this year in Ottawa, Kansas. Beth, her parents, and husband are buried at Highand Cemetery in Ottawa, KS. We have updated Dessie's information and added the cemetery. We apologize for missing this earlier. Alberta Elizabeth "Beth" Briles Gentry passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 in Ottawa, Kansas. Family and friends will meet for a Graveside Service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 28, 2013, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, with a Memorial Service at Trinity United Methodist Church Ottawa, 1:30 P.M. Monday, January 28, 2013. Born on Wednesday, February 18, 1925 in Richter, Kansas, the daughter of John Charles and Dessie (Duvall) Briles. On June 1, 1947 Beth was united in marriage to Kenneth Neil Gentry at her parents' home. After forty-four years of marriage he preceded her in death on December 13, 1991. Preceding Beth in death are her husband Kenneth Neil Gentry; parents John and Dessie Briles; grandson Tyler Bogert; and brother-in-law Chuck Swenson. Surviving family members include son Michal N. Gentry and his wife Linda, son Alan D. Gentry and his wife Lori, daughter Elisa A. Bogert and her husband Mark; grandchildren Ben Bogert and Chris Gentry; sister Dorothy Apgar and her husband Pat, sister Virginia Gardner and her husband Dan, and sister Beverly Swenson; sister-in-law Anna Marie Darbro and her husband Benny; and many nieces and nephews.
