Ruth Geraldine Ogan Briles

Ruth Geraldine Briles, 86, passed Jan. 13, 20015. At Ruth’s request, there are to be no services. Born May 20, 1928, to the late Dan and Josephine Ogan in Tacoma, Washington. On March 2, 1947, Ruth married Edmund J. Briles who passed before her. Also preceded by sons Ernest and Thomas Briles; sisters MaryAnn Tami and Nadine Evans; and brothers Dan and Carl Ogan.Survived by her granddaughter, Angela Briles-Panak (Robert); her great-grandsons, Travis, Kyle, and Ryan; a nephew and many nieces, great-nieces and-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Aunt Ruth, as she was known, is also survived by her honorary family, and loving neighbors, Robert and Meg Losey, and their children Tolman, Kaitlyn, Jon, and Townie.

Edith Ring Nance

Edith Ring Nance, age 81 of Thomasville and formerly of Denton died Sunday, February 15 at Spring Arbor of Thomasville. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 18 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Jimmy Norred. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Born October 19, 1933 in Randolph County to Augustus Graham Ring and Ruth Pearce Ring. She was married to Glenn Nance who died September 30, 1987. Survived by a son, Randy Nance of Denton; daughter Janice N Hedrick and husband Lewis of Thomasville; half-brothers Lloyd McMahon and Jack McMahon both of Durham; half-sisters Alice Markham of Durham and Sue Barringer of Thomasville; 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchildren.

Shirley Bailey Briles

Shirley Bailey Briles, 83, of Hurt died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Autumn Care of Altavista. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015 at New Bethel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. R.A. "Dick" Daily with interment to follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Friday at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence. Preceded in death by the late Garland W. Briles. Born July 12, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late William Herbert Bailey and Lena Compton Bailey. She is survived by a son, Ronald C. Briles of Hurt; her best friend and sister-in-law, Susie D. Bailey of Hurt; a niece, Sharon B. Rowland and her husband Danny of Gretna; two nephews, Herbert E. (Herb) Bailey and his wife Joann of Hurt and Winfred P. Bailey and his wife Kathy of Spencer; four great nieces, three great nephews, four great great nieces, and three great great nephews. Also preceded in death by a a sister, Virginia T. Gordon and a brother, William Paul Bailey. 

Lacy Junior Hoover

Lacy Junior Hoover, age 89, of Asheboro died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro with Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Born November 9, 1925 to Ivy and Cova Hoover.US Army veteran; preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Clark Hoover. Survived by his wife, Doris Lewis Hoover; son, Jerry Hoover of Asheboro; brother, Roy Hoover of King; several nieces and nephews.

Leslie Stagg Briles Dies

Lesley Anne Briles, 44, died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015 due to a long battle with cancer. Memorial Service will be February 21, 2015 at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church in Bernie Mo. Born June 19, 1970, in Danville. Lesley was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wanda Overstreet and Bob and Elizabeth Stagg. Survived by her husband, Daniel Ray Briles Jr.; her parents, Sandy and Rick Gibson, and John and Pam Stagg; her grandfather, Jimmy Overstreet of Danville; three children, Kimberly Brandenburg, Will Brandenburg and Justin Smith; three siblings, Jamie Goodwin of Georgia, Alex Stagg of Danville and Elizabeth Sultzbach of Lancaster; two granddaughters, Lilly and Delilah Brandenburg; and nieces and nephews.

Jack M. Briles passed on February 8, 2015 in Oregon. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 13 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. Born in Stayton, Oregon, March 1, 1940 to the late Dewey S. and Bertha Leimkuhl Briles. He married Mary Emerson in 1967 who survives; daughters Kathlene (Geoff) Livengood, Suzanne Bigelow, two grandchildren, Casey Lee and Mackenzie Livengood, brothers James and Gerald Briles of Salem and sister Hazel Johnson of Raymond, WA.

Cynthia Mae Hulin Rose Dies

Cynthia Mae “Cindy” Hulin Rose, 44, passed Friday, February 6, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services for Cindy will be held, 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in the Chapel at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home 122 W. Main St. Thomasville, with the Rev. Jack Rose and Rev. Mary Miller officiating. Born July 23, 1970 in Guilford County a daughter of the late James Junior Hulin and Sylvia Christine Hooks Hulin; preceded in death by a sister, Janice Jarrett. Cindy was married October 4, 1991 to Joseph Blair Rose, who survives of the home. Also surviving are, two daughters, Flisha Rose of Thomasville, Eden Rose of Archdale; two sons, Ryan Blair Rose of Charlotte and Jordan Rose of Archdale; two sisters, Carolyn Curry and husband Marvin of Trinity and Jamie Tucker of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Shaylee Rose, Grayson Rose and Makynlee Latham. Betty Kindley Dunn

Betty Kindley Dunn, age 80, of Asheboro, NC passed Monday, February 2, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro, NC. A celebration of her life will be held, Thursday February 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Sawyersville Wesleyan Church, 157 Sawyersville Road, Asheboro, NC with Rev. Jeff Garner, Rev. Darrell Rabon and Rev. Matt Gunter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Travis Cooke officiating. Born December 2, 1934 to the late G.R. Kindley, Sr. and Lula Myers Kindley. She was also the granddaughter of the late Samuel Scott and Ada Williams Myers and the late Cicero and Celia Kindley. She is also predeceased by an infant son whom she is now reunited with. She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 62 years, David Brown Dunn of the home. She is also survived by three devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Celia Craven and husband, John; Carolyn Crawford and husband Randy; and Susan Butcher and husband Todd. Surviving are also five grandchildren who absolutely adored their Nanny and MomMaw-Phillip Crawford; Coral Moreno; Kathryn Watson and husband Frankie; Patrick Crawford; Sarah Cooke and husband Travis; and Lauren Smith and husband Jason. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Landon Thomas Watson; Zachary Matthew Cooke; John Luke Watson; and Anna Lucille Cooke. In addition, she is survived by her best friend and devoted sister, Polly Bunting and her husband, C.H. and brother and all-time hero, G.R. Kindley, Jr. and wife Mary Ellen of Rockingham, NC. Thomas Melvin Loflin Dies

Thomas Melvin Loflin 73, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Hospice Home of High Point. A memorial service will be held, at Gospel Light Freewill Independent Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Shetley officiating. Born on March 17, 1941, a son of the late Garfield and Vivian Briles Loflin. Mr. Loflin was married on November 27, 1985 to Judy Ann Bryant, who survives. Mr. Loflin was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Eason; and a brother, Gilbert Loflin. Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Joy Daigle of Woodland Park, CO, Kimberly Powers of Columbus, GA, Tammy Fritts and husband Craig of Columbus, GA, and Sherri Fretwell and husband Bubba of Midland, GA; three sons, Brian Smith and wife Michelle of Trinity, Jeffery Talley and wife Lisa of High Point, Greg Loflin and partner Steve of Kinshaw, GA; two sisters, Barbara Inscoe and husband Walter of Wilson, NC, and Linda Williams and husband Jerry of Fayetteville, NC; one brother, Garfield Loflin Jr. of Washington D.C.; eighteen grandchildren, Tesla, Katie, Hannah, Noah, Destiney, Bella, Lynn, Tommy, Jonathan, Ashton, Benjamin, Emily, Abby, Katie Ann, Austin, Brandon, Brooke, and Megan; and three great-grandchildren, Dakota, Benjamin and Tinnley.
