Jimmy Lee Floyd
Jimmy Lee Floyd, 59, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, October 28, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Sawyersville Wesleyan Church with Rev. Jeff Garner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Sawyersville Wesleyan Church and other times at the home of his parents.
A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Floyd was born October 19, 1954.Survived by his daughter, Leesa Perdue and husband Joe, of Trinity, NC; sons, Donnie Floyd, Danny Floyd, both of Randleman, NC; parents, Thurman and Reba Hoover Floyd; sisters, Judy Albright and husband, Carroll, of Asheboro, NC, Sandra Willoughby and husband, Jim, of Denton, NC; brother, Gerry Floyd and wife, Rebecca, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Kara, Allie, Braxton, Thurman; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jack Dawes Pierce Dies
ASHEBORO — Jack Dawes Pierce, 88, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013, at West Bend United Methodist Church with Rev. Drew McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Native of Guilford County, NC, Mr. Pierce was born Oct. 30, 1924. He was the son of the late Frank Melvin Pierce and Nancy Ellen Peele Pierce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rayford Pierce. Survived by his wife, Ruby Cain Pierce, of the home; daughter, Jackie Pierce Vuncanon and husband, Tim, of Raleigh, NC; son, Aldy Richard Pierce and fiancee, Teresa Morton, of Asheboro, NC; sisters, Allene Yow, Frances Tesh, both of Asheboro, NC, Ina Mae Hill and husband, J.D., of Thomasville, NC; grandchildren, Azure Rudd and husband, Seth, Josh Vuncanon, Amanda Pierce and fiancĂ©, Michael Yow, Hannah Poston and husband, David, Daniel Pierce, T. J. Anderson, Josh Anderson and wife Rhona, April Anderson and fiancĂ©, Paul Walker; great grandchildren, Riley Poston, Mattie Poston, Eli Poston, Braxton Walker, Caleb Anderson and Kaylah Anderson.

Marion Summey Briles, 80, Dies in Lexington
Marion Summey Briles, 80, died Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. James Simonds and Rev. Dr. Joe D. Coltrane officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Born on February 27, 1933 in Davidson County to Russel J. Briles and Zola Summey Briles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mock Hilton Briles on February 9, 2001, whom he married on December 19, 1953. Surviving are his sons, David N. Briles and wife Carolyn of Monroe, GA, Joseph A. Briles and wife Patty of Smithfield, NC, and Jonathan H. Briles of Thomasville; brother, Lee Briles and wife Ruth of Jamestown; sister, Rusaline Cassidy of Trinity; and four grandchildren, Michael Briles, Megan Briles, Stephanie Briles, and Beth Briles.

Pauline Pierce Gordon, 75, of Denton, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at her residence. Funeral Service will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Old Fashioned Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeremy Pierce, Rev. Daniel Little and Rev. David Price officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born November 30, 1937 in Randolph County, the daughter of Royce Reese “Bill” and Millie Frances Barnes Pierce. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Gordon in 1994 and a brother, Don Pierce. Survived by a son, Roger Gordon of Denton; 4 daughters, June Gailey and husband Conrad of Lexington, Janice Hughes of Asheboro, Cindy Peacock and husband Stephen of Denton and Tara Clontz of Denton; 2 brothers, Charles Pierce of Lexington and Dolan Pierce of Thomasville; 3 sisters, Jewel Watford and Louise Elberson, both of Thomasville and Mary Hughes of Denton; 11 Grandchildren; 16 Great-grandchildren.

Pauline Lambeth Simpson, 92, passed Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Starbuck, Rev. Bob Briggs, and Rev. Elton Wilborne officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Born on January 20, 1921 in Randolph County, NC to Alvin Henry Lambeth and Claddie Yates Lambeth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Simpson on October 22, 1965; step-mother, Lula Lambeth; brother, James Arthur Lambeth. Surviving are two sons, Bobby Simpson and wife Nancy of Thomasville and Ricky Simpson and wife Cindy of Lexington; sister, Irene L. Staley of Asheboro; three grandchildren, Michelle Simpson King and husband David of Denton, Sarah Elizabeth Simpson, and Mary Paige Simpson; and great-grandson, Clint David King.

Shirley Ann Hoover Hunt, age 75, died on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Brookstone Nursing Home in Lexington. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 4, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph St., Thomasville NC with Rev. Donnie Lundsford officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Community Church Cemetery, 2415 Hoover Hill Rd. Trinity NC. Born on March 3, 1938 in Randolph County, a daughter to Dave and Sally Ann Younts Hoover; preceded in death by her husband, Earl Richard Hunt. Surviving Mrs. Hunt are her three sons and their wives: Donald and Kathy Hunt, Dale and Pansy Hunt and Ricky and Wendy Hunt; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
