Barbara Ann Blount Briles

Barbara Ann Briles passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 in Katy, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Katy Bible Church, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 with Rev. Matt Mancini and Rev. Ron McDonnel officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Born on August 14, 1930 in Houston, Texas to Julian and Bessie Hamilton Blount. On June 7, 1947, she married Robert Nathan Briles. 
She is survived by her sons, Floyd N. Briles of Spring and Julian F. Briles and his wife Barbara of Katy; sister, Margaret Mehr and her husband Louis of Katy; grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie, and Michelle; and six great grandchildren.

Jack E. Briles, Sr., 85, Dies

Jack Edward Briles, Sr., 85, of Jeffersonville, IN,  passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 PM on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Legacy Funeral Center in Jeffersonville, IN. 

Born on September 21, 1933 in Corydon, IN. to Daniel Edward and Pearl Carpenter Briles. Along with his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Briles; son, Jay Robert Briles; son-in-law, Jack Goodhue; and siblings, Lloyd Wilkinson, Anna Lea Byrnes, and Kathryn Head.

He is survived by his children, Jack Briles, Jr. (Alma), Virginia Goodhue, and John Briles, Sr. (Dawn); daughter-in-law, Sheril Lynn Briles; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

William "Gerald" Kinley Dies

William (Gerald) Kinley, 71, went home to be with Jesus, on Saturday July 27, 2019 at Duke University Hospital surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at 11:00 AM at Hillside Park Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Kinley and Bro. Randy Kinley officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, on Monday and Tuesday at Gerald’s home from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Born on April 21, 1948 to the late Paul and Blanche Kinley in Guilford County. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Louise Beckom Kinley on June 4, 2017; three siblings, Gene Kinley, J. R. Kinley, Helen Hill; step son, David Fowler; step daughter, Theresa Fowler Buchanan Surviving are his two sons, Randy Kinley and wife Amanda of Thomasville, Pastor Dale Kinley and wife Heather of Salisbury; his step son, Bobby Fowler of Trinity; four brothers, Larry Kinley and wife Norma Jean, Barry Kinley and wife Darlene, Richard Kinley and Lloyd Kinley; two sisters, Glenda Beckom and husband James, Rachel Kinley, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; mother in law; Evelyn Stevenson of Thomasville; extended family and church family.

Philip Raymond Briles, 82, of Asheboro Dies

Philip Raymond Briles, age 82, of Asheboro died Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 1:00-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Browder officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Born in Asheboro on June 25, 1937 to Raymond and Mattie Kinley Briles. In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Douglas Mack. He is survived by his sister: Beth Mack of Snellville, GA; nephew, Timothy Mack of Snellville, GA.

George Herbert Briles

George Herbert Briles of rural Neodesha, KS passed on July 11, 2019 at his home at 81 years old. Graveside service was held at Hatler Cemetery, Friday—July 19th at 11:00 am. He was born in Buffville, Kansas. George's parents, Arlo and Rose Briles of Neodesha passed before him as well as one sister, Arlene Reaves of Cherryvale, Kansas. He is survived by his other sister, Aleta Jackson, and brother-in-law, Bert Jackson of Cherryvale, Kansas.

Michael D. “Mike” Herring, 70, Passes

Michael D. “Mike” Herring, 70, of Keystone, passed away Thursday evening, July 11, 2019. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16, 2019, from 1 until 8 p.m., at the Bluffton Church of the Nazarene.  Services will be Wednesday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m., also at the church, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Jody Mounsey and Daniel Herring will officiate. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton. Born in Hartford City on Aug. 17, 1948, to Robert E. and Beverly J. (Briles) Herring; his father survives in Upland. He married Carol S. Tucker in Wells County at the Chester Center Church on Nov. 22, 1969; she survives. He was preceded in death by his mother. In addition to his father and wife, Mike is survived by two daughters, Christina (Chad) Yencer of Poneto and Shawna (Craig) Neuenschwander of Liberty Center; two sons, Daniel (Mandi) Herring of Decatur and Philip (Victoria) Herring of Marion; 13 grandchildren, Meghan, Jessica, and Jadyn Yencer, Madison, Payton, and Gavin Herring, Cheyenne, Aubree, Noah, Avery, and Ada Neuenschwander, and Logan and Nolan Herring; a sister, Susan (Bob) Southworth of Florida; a brother, David (Cheryl) Herring of Hamilton, Ohio; along with several nieces and nephews.

Richard Harold "Rich" Willis, age 67, Passes

Richard Harold "Rich" Willis, age 67, of Asheboro passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 1:00-1:45 pm at Sunset Avenue Church of God, 900 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Sunset Avenue Church of God with Dr. Boyd Byerly officiating. Burial will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Born in Asheboro on August 4, 1951 to Harold "Buddy" Willis, Jr. and Carolyn Sowder Willis. In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his former wife, Sandra Dickerson Willis and one sister. 
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Briles Willis, daughters, Melissa Willis of Greensboro, Jessie Willis of Mooresville, and Amanda Willis and fiance Adam Fongemin of Greensboro; son, Tim Willis and wife Lisa of High Point; grandchildren, Caylee Willis, and Lizzie and Logan Fongemin; one sister; and one brother.

Andrea is the daughter of the late Joseph Lafeyette & Mozelle Lucas Briles.

Frances Harriet Briles Abbadusky, age 83, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois, passed awayThursday, May 23, 2019 at Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care in Roseville, Illinois. A graveside funeral service is planned for 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Monmouth Cemetery in Monmouth, Illinois. No visitation is planned. She was born on August 23, 1935 in Bald Bluff, Henderson County, Illinois, the daughter of John Frank and Alwilda Margaret (Obenour) Briles. On February 24, 1956, she married Herbert Owen Abbadusky in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1992.She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert, her parents, and siblings.

Margaret “Peggy” Briles

Margaret “Peggy” Briles, passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side on July 10, 2019 at the age of 61. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Minister Pamela Panek officiating.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Peggy will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery in Leroy. Born on April 28, 1958 to Wayne and Theresa (Carter) Briles in Grand Rapids. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wayne Briles Jr. and Ken Briles; and daughter in law, Chana Messer. Peggy is survived by one son and four daughters:  Tony (Maria) Messer of Big Rapids, Conie (Garry) Stewart of Arkansas,  Kandy (Howard) White of Stanwood, Stacey (Charlie) Beemer of Mecosta, April (Mike) Hansen of Mecosta; siblings Katie Clements of Grayling, Hazen (Diana) Briles of Lansing, Dale (Alice Carrier) Briles of Belmont, Shelly Briles of Hersey, Edith Briles of Mecosta, Mark Briles of Tennesee; a sister-in-law, Irene Briles of Howard City; grandchildren, Amanda, Kaylin, Tony Jr., Seth, Emily, Kymberly, Katie, Eva, Jacob, Kamren and Tyler; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way as well as many step and adopted grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mabel Hepler Clinard, 100, died on July 10, 2019 at Piedmont Crossing. A funeral service will be held on July 13, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Peggy Finch officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 PM at Christian Enrichment Center at the church. Born January 31, 1919, a daughter of the late Lacy Evert Hepler and Ella Howard Hepler. Mrs. Clinard was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Aaron Brown Clinard; her grandchildren Kristian Scott Clinard and Emily Helen Clinard; and her brothers and sister Howard Hepler, Lois Hepler Sink and Stokes Hepler. Surviving: three sons, Aaron Neal Clinard and his wife Lyl MacLean of High Point, Rodney Hepler Clinard and his wife Annette West of Greensboro, and Don Brooks Clinard and his wife Julie Eanes of Thomasville; and then her “fourth son” Rusty VanLandingham; grandchildren, Lyl MacLean Clinard Kluttz of High Point and her husband Bill Kluttz, Aaron Neal Clinard, Jr of High Point and his wife Betsey Mendenhall, and Ella Brooks Clinard of Thomasville. She is also survived by her five very special great-grandsons (the Boys) (GG) Neal Clinard, William Kluttz, Rudduck Clinard, Hector Clinard and Whatley Clinard; and her brother Bobby Lee Hepler and eight nieces and nephews.

Mr. Homer Ray Hill, 90, resident of Trinity, died July 5, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Tim Cole officiating.  Interment will follow at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Born November 2, 1928 in Randolph County, a son to the late Walter T. and Martha Crotts Hill. U. S. Army veteran Surviving is a sister, Elizabeth Enyart and husband John of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; two brothers, Loyd Hill and wife Bernice of Lexington, North Carolina and J.D. Hill and wife Tiney of Springfield, Virginia; and his twenty one nephews and nieces including his caregiver, Nadine Jones of Trinity.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Crotts and Maxine Coltrane; and two brothers, Gilbert and Leonard Hill.
