Doris Marie Small Whitaker, 82, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at High Point Medical Center in High Point. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Destination Heaven, 1796 Old County Farm Road, Sophia, NC, 27350, with Pastor Benny Smith officiating. Burial will follow at West Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Born July 17, 1936, in Randolph Co., NC, Mrs. Whitaker was the daughter of the late Lindsay and Lizzie Tysinger Small. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Thurman Whitaker. Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her sons, Tony Whitaker and Terry Whitaker, both of Asheboro; sisters, Thelma Harris, Ruth Wilson, Edith "Cookie" Cutshaw, all of Asheboro; brother, Buck Small of Asheboro; grandchildren, T.J. Whitaker, LeAnn Phillips, Amber Wilson, Stacey Hussey, Terri Cardwell, Dustin Whitaker, Calob Whitaker; 16 great grandchildren.

Bobby A. Pierce, age 50, of Randleman passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 12:30-1:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A graveside service will follow on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 3448 New Hope Church Road in Asheboro. Born in Randolph County on November 23, 1968 to Basher Bryant Pierce, Sr. and Nora Lee Yow Pierce. He is survived by his brother, Basher Pierce, Jr. and wife Delane of Sophia; sister, Crystal Pierce of Corpus Christi, TX; nephew, Basher Pierce III; niece, Brandy Pierce; and many loving aunts and uncles.

Mr. Troy Henry Pierce age 100 of Cid Road, Lexington, NC died Sunday, February 10 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 13 at Walter’s Grove Baptist Church; conducted by Rev. Chris Simpson. Burial will follow in the Walter’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times will be at the residence.
