Ellie Chappell Welborn
TRINITY-Ellie Chappell Welborn, 58, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family Tuesday, June 21st, 2016. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 25th, from 6 until 8 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Born on August 2, 1957 in Greensboro, to the late Rufus D. and Johnsie Farlow Chappell. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 34 years, Jody Welborn of the home; her sons, Matthew Welborn and Adam Welborn of the home; her brother, Steve Chappell and his wife Diane of Chapel Hill.

Clayton “Tubby” Ray Hulin of Delk Road, Lexington, NC died Wednesday, June 15 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Pastor Josh Gentle. Interment will follow at Tom’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Delk Road. Mr. Hulin was born on October 8, 1935 in Randolph County to Percy Watson and Josie Indonia Briles Hulin. Preceded in death by his wife Alreta Snider Hulin; a sister, Edna Pennington; 2 brothers, Tommy Hulin and Billy Hulin; and a grandson, Darin Guevara. Survived by a son, Harold Glenn Hulin and wife Debra of Lexington; daughters, Shelia Bess of Lexington and Patricia Gayle Guevara and husband Victor of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Jesse Bud Hulin and wife Martha and Terry Hulin and wife Sue both of Lexington; sisters, Eleanor “Lucy” Noah and husband Buck of Lexington and Hazel Hoover of Denton; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Actor Charles Briles Dies, played Eugene Barkley on Big Valley
Charles Briles, actor and United States Veteran, passed away unexpectedly yesterday in Oregon. Charles played Eugene Barkley on the popular show Big Valley. Charles in the son of the late Rudolph Valentino & Emma Grey Briles. Funeral arrangements and memorial services are pending. Please check back for additional information. Dorothy Lee Briles McDonald
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Dorothy Lee Briles McDonald, 86, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed December 6, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, Myrtle Beach, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 1:00 PM until 1:50 PM at the church. Preceded in death by her husband Weyman Texas McDonald in 1960; both parents William Lee and Pauline Griffin Briles. Dorothy is survived by her 3 daughters, Paula Miles (David Miles), Janice McDonald, and Anna Boyce, and one stepson, Weyman McDonald, Jr. (Patricia). She had six grandchildren, Ryan Miles, Paul Miles (Britteny), Morgan Batts (Henry), David McDonald (Buffy), Heather Grubb (Jeff) and Weyman McDonald III (Lauren), as well as 8 great-grandchildren.

Donna Marie Duke, 71, Corydon, died Saturday, April 30, 2016, at her home. Visitation: Wednesday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon and Thursday, May 5, after 10 a.m. at Calvary Wesleyan Holiness Church. Funeral: Thursday, May 5, at 1 p.m. at the church with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery west of Corydon. Officiants: The Revs. Lewis Smith and David Dicken. Born June 23, 1944, in Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Belva McCullum Briles. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord Delbert Duke; a son, Dennis Duke; a grandson, Sam Hughes; and two brothers, Jesse and Harry Briles.Survivors include four sons, Vincent Duke (Nanetta) of English, David and Delbert Junior Duke, both of Corydon, and Daniel Duke (Sherry) of Pekin; two daughters, Teresa Hughes and Donnetta Oates (Shane), both of Corydon; a sister, Hazel Smith (Lewis) of Texarkana, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jay Robert Briles Dies
Jay Robert Briles, 62, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Visitation will be 12 PM to 2 PM Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home with cremation to follow according to Jay’s wishes. Born on October 8, 1953 in New Albany to Jack Briles, Sr. and the late Betty (Lear) Briles. Jay was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth Briles Cardona. Along with his father, Jay is survived by his wife, Sherilynn (Springer) Briles; children, Katherine Cardona (Adam), Beth Briles Hampton, Jacquline Schulz (TJ); step-children, Adrian Ramos (Nicole), Anthony Ramos (Danielle), Natalie Hernandez (Luis), Lorrin Ramos, Mariah Ramos; siblings, Jack Briles, Jr. (Alma), Virginia Goodhue, John Briles, Sr. (Dawn); 14 grandchildren with one on the way; and 2 great-grandchildren.
