Brother of Coach Art Briles Dies in Fall
Edward Duane “Eddie” Briles resident of Haskell, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Haskell with Mr. John Greeson and Rev. Jim McCurley officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Cemetery. Visitation is planned for Saturday evening, November 30 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 304 N. 2nd Street. Born March 6, 1954 at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA to Dennis Ray Briles and Wanda Nelle McCain Briles. He married Teresa Ann Rhoads on May 26, 1973 in Rule, Texas, preceded in death by his father, Dennis Ray Briles; mother, Wanda McCain Briles; grandparents, George Abe Briles and Irene Felton Briles, OJ McCain and Ada Belle Place McCain, W.O. (Bill) Kittley and Elsie (Tottie) McCain Kittley, father-in-law, Eugene Rhoads. Survived by his wife, Teresa of Haskell; daughter, Brandi Beard and husband Jon of Lubbock; son, Jason Briles and wife Jennifer of Graham; brother, Art Briles and wife Jan of Waco. In addition, he is survived by 6 grandchildren, Trinity and Brieley Anthony, Kash Beard, and Braylee, Brenna, and Brett Briles; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Serving as pallbearers for Eddie are Keith Briles, Dale Carroll, Keith Everett, Johnny Fouts, Andy Gannaway, and Jimmy Lisle.

Paul Cletus Hulin
Paul Cletus Hulin, 65, died Thursday morning, November 21, 2013 at his residence. A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 2 P.M. in Pleasant Union Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Clayton Stoneman officiating. Mr. Hulin will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until the service hour. Born September 12, 1948 in Randolph County, a son of the late Charlie Cletus Hulin and Annie McDowell Hulin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons, Larry Hulin and Clint Hulin and a great-granddaughter, Grace Ann Gayheart. Surviving are a daughter, Rose Ann Gayheart and husband Danny of High Point; a son, Glenn Cletus Hulin of Greensboro; step-daughter Tammy Lankford and husband Curtis of Lexington; step-son, Alfred Malson, Jr. and wife Penny of Bennettsville, S.C.; sister, Rosa Lee Hulin of Thomasville; granddaughter, Paula Ann Moore of High Point; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jonah, Mia and Americus.
Mr. Hulin is the grandson of the late Josie Briles Hulin

Allene Ella Crotts Summey
Allene Ella Crotts Summey, 85, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Mountain Vista Health Park. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Randolph Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum with Rev. Billy Joe Yates officiating. Native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Summey was born August 17, 1928. She was the daughter of the late William Thomas Crotts and Covie Ella Hunt Crotts. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Summey was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Allene Summey. Survived by her husband, William Astor Summey, of the home; son, William Lee Summey and wife, Harriett, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Dana Moose and husband, Whit Jr., of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Brent Summey and wife, Kimrey, of Asheboro, NC, great grandchildren, Jacob Moose, KayDee Summey; several nieces and nephews.

Charles Samuel Briles Passes
Charles Samuel Briles, 63, of Asheboro, NC, passed Saturday, November 16, 2013, at his residence. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Randolph Memorial Park with Dr. Richard Crider officiating. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Briles was born July 15, 1950; preceded in death by his father, Charles Dalton Briles. Survived by his daughter, Leanna Giles and husband, Bob, of Burlington, NC; mother, Ruth Gallimore Tedder, of Asheboro; sister, Bonnie Blue and husband, Leighton, of Fayetteville, NC; granddaughter, Mary Chandler Giles; one niece and one nephew.

Jewel Pierce Watford Passes
Jewel Pierce Watford, 78, passed Thursday morning, November 7, 2013 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 3 P.M. at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. David Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Watford will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8p.m. and other times at the home. Born October 11, 1935 in Randolph County, a daughter of Royce Pierce and Millie Barnes Pierce. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Allen Watford; a sister Pauline Gordon and a brother Don Pierce. Surviving are her husband John Benjamin Watford of the home; a daughter, Kay Watford and her husband John Collett, III of Thomasville; sons, Sam Watford and wife Karen, Frank Watford and wife Robin, Ben Watford and wife Mitzi and Luther Watford, all of Thomasville; sisters, Louise Elberson and husband Jim of Thomasville and Mary Hughes of Denton; brothers, Charles Pierce and wife Glenda of Lexington and Dolan Pierce and wife Bonnie of Thomasville; Eight Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildren.

Ronald (Ronnie) Austin Parrish, 62, of Thomasville, NC, passed Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington, NC. A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Park Baptist Church with Dr. Steven Chipps officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Cemetery. Born March 26, 1951, in Davidson County to Austin and Gladys Parrish. He is preceded in death by his father, Austin Parrish, and granddaughter, Savannah Joseph. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Benfield Parrish of 45 years; daughter, Tammy Joseph of New York; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Gladys Parrish; and sister Judy Shipton (LeeRoy) of Lexington, NC.
