The Briles Information Network has learned of three deaths this past weekend. The first involve two Crotts. Elizabeth Jenkins Crotts who passed August 14, 2009 in Lexington. The second is Brenda Hardister Crotts who passed on August 16, 2009 in High Point. And last, Paulette "Paula" Swicegood Swing who passed on August 15, 2009 in Chapel Hill, NC.

LEXINGTON-Elizabeth Jenkins Crotts, age 84 passed Friday, August 14, 2009 at her home. Graveside service was held at 1:00 pm Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at Forest Hill Memorial Park; Rev. Dr. Joe D. Coltrane officiating. Born in Guilford County, December 21, 1924 to Robert Calvin Jenkins and Ursula Garrison Jenkins. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Gilmer Crotts, November 18, 1990, a son Tim Crotts in 2003, one sister Lena Jenkins and two brothers, Sam and Bob Jenkins. Surviving are; three daughters, Carolyn Darnell and husband Jerry, Cynthia Beck and husband Dennis all of Lexington and Margaret Crisp and husband Terry of Fancy Gap, VA; one son, Ronald Crotts of the home; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.-Cumby
ASHEBORO- Paulette "Paula" Swicegood Swing, age 42, passed Saturday, August 15, 2009 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. Graveside service is Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the West Bend United Methodist Church Cemetery; Rev. Drew McIntyre officiating. Native of Randolph County. Survived by her son, Ethan McCain Swing of Asheboro, NC; father, Ed Swicegood of Asheboro, NC; brother, Ted Swicegood and his wife Penny of Asheboro, NC.-Pugh
HIGH POINT-Brenda Hardister Crotts, 62, passed Sunday, August 16, 2009 at her home. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale; Pastor Steve Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery. Born April 29, 1947, in Randolph County, a daughter of the late Elsie "Doc" Hardister and Beulah Tysinger Hardister. Preceded by her husband Garry W. Crotts and brother Earl Hardister. Survivors include her daughter Shanda Vickers and husband Kevin of Trinity; sister Evelyn Shaw of New Hope and three brothers Elsie Hardister and wife Colleen of New Hope, Wayne Hardister and wife Carolyn of Greensboro, and Rick Hardister and wife Mary of New Hope; and two grandsons Seth Vickers and Ian Vickers.-Cumby

Mildred Briles Larrabee Passes
The Briles Information Network has received word of the passing of Mildred Briles Larrabee, who passed July 30, 2009 at Ellsworth Care Center in Wisconsin. Mrs. Larrabee is the daughter of the late George and Hallie Arbogast Briles. Below is her death notice for Mrs. Larrabee. The databases have been updated to reflect this passing.
ELLSWORTH, WI-Mildred Daphine Larrabee, 92, passed Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Ellsworth Care Center. Funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 3, at the River Falls United Methodist Church; Rev. Janet Ellinger officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery.Born on Sept. 24, 1916, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of George and Hallie (Arbogast) Briles. Preceded in death by her husband Willard Larrabee (m. June 14, 1936) and four brothers. Survived by her son, Larry (Myrna) Larrabee of Ellsworth; four grandchildren: Lori (Will) Smith of Menomonie, Debbie (Scott) Feuerhelm of Ellsworth, Allan (John Fetzenburger) Larrabee of St. Paul, and Jason (Kristi) Larrabee of New Market, N.H.; five great-grandchildren: Analicia Frandrup, Tiffany Feuerhelm, Shawn Frandrup, Brandon Frandrup and Brady Feuerhelm; sisters-in-law: Mary Briles of River Falls and Delores Briles of Hudson.

Hazel Farlow Braun Passes
ASHEBORO-Hazel Farlow Braun, age 91, passed Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Hospice Home of High Point. Funeral Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 4:00PM at Marlboro Friends Church; John Sides officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery. Born January 29, 1918 in Randolph County, daughter of Frank M. and Nora Stout Farlow. Survived by brothers; D. B and Michael Farlow both of Asheboro, Byron Farlow of Sophia. Many nieces and nephews.-Pugh

Murder in Florida; Dr. Briles' Wife Slain

UPDATE:
MANATEE, FL-It appears blunt force trauma killed Kathleen Briles, wife of Palmetto Dr. James Briles, Manatee Sheriff Brad Steube said today at a news conference. Sheriff Steube declined say what was used to kill Briles, but said detectives did recover the murder weapon. Steube said the doctor has been cleared as a suspect in the case by confirmed alibis. DATELINE FLORIDA-The Briles Information Network has received word of a murder in Manatee, Florida. Kathleen Briles, wife of prominent Dr. James Briles, was found slain sometime Monday, August 3rd in the couple’s home. Florida police have confirmed that Mrs. Briles died a violent death and the case is under investigation. You can follow this breaking story here.

BIO:Dr. Briles was born in Corning, Iowa. He attended Northwest Missouri State University from 1970-1971. He then transferred to Grinnell College in Grinnell. Iowa, where he earned his bachelor's degree in psychology in 1975. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1980. Dr. Briles completed his internship and residency at Mercy/St. Luke's Hospital from 1980-1983.
