Geraldine "Gerri" Small Sumner Passes
ASHEBORO-Geraldine Small "Gerri" Sumner, age 68, passed Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 4:00 PM at Forest Park Baptist Church in Randleman, NC; Pastor Jon Ferguson and Pastor Rusty Small officiating. Burial followed in Randolph Memorial Park. Native of Randolph County, preceded in death by her parents, Glenn V. and Sadie Black Small, brothers, Dolan Small and Ralph Small, and sister, Mary Lou Briles. Survived by her husband, Dwight Kenneth Sumner of the home; sons, Chris Sumner and his wife Kim of Asheboro, NC, Eric Sumner and his wife Anita of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Zach Schwarz, Gregory Moore, Maxx Sumner, and Emily Sumner; great granddaughter, Clara Moore; sister, Pat Walker and her husband Bobby of Randleman, NC; brother, Jerry Small and his wife Donna of Appomattox, VA; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.-Pugh

Gertrude Davis Lomax, 85 Dies
LEXINGTON-Gertrude (Nana) Davis Lomax, 85, passed Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Wake: 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, April 3, 2009 at Davidson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Churchland Baptist Church; Rev. Ray Howell IV officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Born October 5, 1923 in Davidson County to Lloyd G. Davis and Lena Crotts Davis. Surviving: her husband of 68 years, Ben Hollis Lomax of the home, sons, Gary Lomax and wife, Jody, Ricky Lomax both of Lexington, four grandchildren, Todd Lomax and wife, Melissa, Scott Lomax, Alan Lomax and wife, Mandy, and Shannon Yarbrough and husband, Josh; and six great-grandchildren.
Nellie Disher Briles Passes
MIDWAY-Nellie Mae Disher Briles, 73, passed Monday, March 30, 2009, at Lexington Memorial Hospital from a brief illness. There will be no services. She was married to Howard Gray Briles.
