The BIN has received late word of the passing of Ola Mae Lambeth Pierce who passed on May 22, 2008 in Davidson County. Mrs. Pierce is the sister of Hazel Lambeth who married the late H. THOMASVILLE-Ola Mae Pierce, 91, passed on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Britthaven of Davidson. Interment was held in Fairgrove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rev. Fred Miller officiating. . Born on June 14, 1916, in Davidson County to the late David E. and Maggie Grubb Lambeth. Preceded in death by Beulah Pierce who passed in 2007. Suviving is her sister, Hazel Lambeth Briles.-Family Funeral Home.

Death Notice: Charles W, Briles

COLORADO-Charles W. Briles SR. "Chuck", passed May 18, 2008 at the age of 60. Funeral service Wednesdayat Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson in Castle Rock, CO.

UPDATE: The BIN has contacted the funeral home in Colorado and attempted to obtain a full death notice for Charles Briles. We learned that Charles' parents are Charles Franklin & Margarite Hansen Briles. The funeral home told us the local paper in Castle Rock runs once a week and should be posted next week. We have no files on Charles' family and thus we will keep searching for this lineage. The BIN will try to obtain an full death notice after the holiday.

UPDATE-We have no files on Charles' family and thus we will keep searching for this lineage. We can't obtain a full death notice on Charles and the census is no help. We have moved this to the "Current Issue" page and hope someone will assist in solving this issue.

Emeline Sada Goodrick Passes

LIBERAL, KS-Emeline Sada Goodrick, 89, passed April 29, 2008 at Wheatridge Park Care Center Liberal. Funeral services at South Church of God; Rev. Randy Barnett and Rev. Rusty Callahan presiding. Burial will at Liberal Cemetery. Born June 15, 1918 in Texas County, Okla., the daughter of the late Earl and Ella (Wininger) Briles. In August 1935, she married Rev. James M. Burns at Liberal. He died Oct. 24, 1965. In July 1967, she married Rev. Kirk Goodrick at Dodge City. He preceded in June 1988. Preceded in death by 2 step daughters Carol Boeke and Janice Lesher brothers William, Glen, Esten and John Briles.Survivors include, one son, James Burns, Oklahoma City; two stepsons, Darrel Trexler and Marvin Trexler; two Daughters, Anita Reynolds and husband, Melvin, Oklahoma City, Okla. and Kay Barnett and husband, Randy, Edmond, Okla.; two step-daughters, Donice Gass and husband, Paul, Dayton, Tennessee and, Merlene Jacobson and husband, Rich; 13 grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.-Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home

Date for Medlin Reunion Announced

Paul “Dickie” Medlin has announced the date for the annual Medlin Reunion. This year's reunion will be held Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Dickie's house in Thomasville. As always, everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing the family again. Dickie will be cooking a pig again with full chickens, just like last year. We ask that each bring a side dish or desserts and be prepared for a great time!

The Briles Information Network will be filming the reunion to record the event for the Randolph and Davidson Historical Society. We ask all family members to bring old photographs of your family and those of family members who have passed on. These photographs will be scanned at the reunion and returned to you by the end of the day. The video of the reunion will be given to both county libraries and kept in the genealogy room for viewing. Tosha Briles, RN, Recognized for Excellence

Novant Health Triad Region has recognized Tosha Medlin Briles for excellence as part of the 2008 Remarkable 45! Nurses. The program honors the top 45 nurses in the region based on their leadership and professionalism while working with patients.

Tosha works for Novant at the Thomasville Medical Center working in the ICU Department. Datra Delk-Patrick and Kathy Saintsing were also recognized at the award ceremony, which took place at Bermuda Run Country Club in Clemmons, NC. You can view the group picture by clicking on Tosha's picture.

Tosha is the daughter of Paul "Dickie" and Phyllis Holder Medlin and the mother to Zachary Flowe and Cameron Briles. Tosha is married to R. Trent Briles, curator of the Briles Information Network. Congratulations Tosha on this OUTSTANDING AWARD! YOU DESERVE IT!

GRAND JUNCTION-Cora Oliver Smyth, 95, Grand Junction, passed May 5, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Smyth in 2006. Clyde was Born to Albert Daniels Smyth and Hattie Ella Briles. Survivors include three sons, James Bradley of Carlsbad, Calif., and John Bradley and Jerome Bradley, both of Grand Junction; one daughter, Joan Raser of Grand Junction; one sister, Jessie Brown of Denver; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
