Wife of Robert R. Briles Passes

Elizabeth F. (nee Oates) Briles, beloved wife of the late Robert R. Briles Sr. passed away April 26, 2014. Family will receive friends on Wednesday morning 9:30am to 11am (at church) followed by Mass of Christian Burial 11am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Lawrence Campus, 135 N. White Horse Pike, Lindenwold, NJ 08021. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Berlin, NJ.Survived by son Robert R. (Betty) Briles Jr. of Franklinville, Betty Ann Briles (Farrell) of Pine Hill, six grandchildren, Robert Briles III, Thomas Farrell III, Sean Farrell, Kevin Briles, Timothy Briles, Kristine Carlson, 9 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Robert Macdonald of Norristown and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Robert R. Briles passed away in 1989. He is the son of the late Gaither Ellsworth Briles.

Grandson of Bertha Briles Dies

Bobby Baker Hill, 85, of Trinity, NC, died unexpectedly Monday, April 28, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home.A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, May 2, 2014, at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting with Pastor Brian Donley and Pastor Dave Mercadante officiating. Burial will follow in the meeting cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Hill was born November 14, 1928. He was the son of the late John Albert Hill and Lena Mae Baker Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clementine Louise Monroe Hill who died in 2011 (Married 1950); Two brothers, William (Bill) Hill and Albert Hill also preceded him in death. Survived by daughters, Carolyn Hill-Fotouhi and husband, Nader, of Ringoes, NJ; Mary Lynn Fancher and fiancé, Rob Janson, of Frisco, TX; stepdaughter, Janet Dow and husband, Louis, of Trinity; and stepson, John Harrell and wife, Pam, of Eddy, TX; brother, Kenneth Hill and wife, Gladys, of Burlington, NC; grandsons, Lucas Fancher and Pars Fotouhi. Tildon George "Slab Man" Floyd

Tildon George Floyd (Slab Man), 84, went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 16, 2014 at his home with his family by his side following two years of declining health. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM at High Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Summey and Rev. Jr. Summey officiating. Burial will follow in Cid United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Floyd will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Born on September 8, 1929 in Randolph County, a son of George H. Floyd and Minnie Moore Floyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Odessa Grubb Floyd on December 28, 1996; two brothers, Roy and Archie Floyd; and two sisters, Louise Summitt and Virgie West. Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Summey and husband Wayne and Wanda Parrish and husband Ralph, all of Lexington, and Janet Grubb and husband Wayne of Trinity; five grandchildren, Angie Owens and husband Neil, Shanda Swaney and husband Carl, Shaneil Parrish, Thad Parrish and wife Cassie, and Misty Hughes and husband Scotty; eight great-grandchildren, Candice, Jessica and her husband Jason, Preston, Haley, Aneil, Chasen, Haven, and Brianna; three great-great grandchildren, Talynn, Jaycie, and Journee; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Reba Nobles of Lexington. You can pay using Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express. At this time, paypal is not accepted. RANDLEMAN — Ola Laughlin Johnson, 86, of Randleman, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur. Officiating will be the Rev. Bruce Johnson and the Rev. Wayne Pugh. Burial will follow at Pleasant Cross Christian Church, Asheboro. Native of Randolph County, She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Johnson; her parents, Shelley and Mattie Wright Laughlin; brothers, Grady Laughlin, Worth Laughlin, Leslie Laughlin; and sisters, Beulah Gray and Aretta Hill. Survivors include daughters, Becky Pugh and husband, Rev. Wayne of Sophia, Carla Hazelwood of Randleman; sons, Roy Johnson and wife, Stephanie of Asheboro, Rev. Johnsie Pierce Brantley, age 66, of Asheboro died Monday, April 7, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston- Salem. Family will receive friends Friday, April 11, 2014 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Shook and Pastor Jim Pearman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Born September 3, 1947 in Asheboro to John and Golda Pierce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Brantley and sister, Gail P. Connor. Margaret Cameron Tavendale Passes

“If tears could build a stairway, And memories a lane, I'd walk right up to Heaven And bring you home again.” Our beloved Margaret Cameron Tavendale has walked the righteous stairs and into the arms of thy savior. Her homecoming came Saturday night, April 5, 2014 at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, Scotland. Born June 13, 1927 in Montrose, Scotland the second eldest of eight to the late Charles Millan & Beatrice Hampton Cameron. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon Tavendale, brothers Charles & Tommy Cameron and her sister Elizabeth Bushnell "Betty" Morrison. It is the wishes of Margaret to be cremated and no services are planned, at her request. “Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.” Those who are left to mourn until the coming of the Lord are her children, Douglas & Beryl Tavendale; sisters Sheila Cameron Spellman (Johnny Spellman), Catherine Cameron Briles (James Rex Briles); Brothers James Hampton "Mickey" Cameron and Garry Cameron (Mary McLean); and three grandchildren. Margaret is my aunt and sister to my mother Catherine Cameron Briles. We are deeply saddened at the passing of Margaret and ask for prayers for our family. May God place his hands on our grieving family and give us strength to carry on with precious memories of Margaret God Speed!

George Talmadge Briles Dies

The Briles Information Network has received word of the passing of George Talmadge Briles who passed on March 16, 2014 in Guilford County, NC. Born on July 27, 1939, he is the son of the late John William "Buck" Briles and Sara Ellen Williams. This death has been verified through the Register of Deeds in Guilford County, however no formal death notice is available. The BIN will obtain a copy of the DC to see which funeral home handled the arrangements. Surviving is his step sister, Gail Smith Beck and half sister, Bonnie Briles Henry.
